What are your likes and dislikes concerning the Lincoln Corsair?

2021 Corsair. Don't like the fact that if I want to turn off the auto start-stop or want to set the drive mode to conserve, I have to do it every time I start the car. No way to make either choice the default condition. It becomes a pain in the butt when I park the car, run into a store, and then have to start the car and fiddle around with the controls before I drive away---every single time.

Yeah, from my experience, most cars are the same way. I don't MIND the auto start stop, and I always leave my drive mode in Normal.

Hi Eric1GT. What is the current version loaded in your vehicle? The NA 1 19 maps were current to end of 1st quarter 2020 (as NA 1 18 maps were current up to 1st quarter 2019... and so on).
Yes, still 1 year old when you purchased, but at least not "2 years old".

When NA 1 20 is released, it will be current up to end of 1st quarter 2021.

This information is clearly spelled out on the Lincoln SYNC 3 map updates website, located here (where you can also check for the latest release): Lincoln - Sync3 Map Update

New map versions are usually released ~late June-early August. And yes, the update is free, if you download and install yourself. In the same manner as SYNC 3 update installations are free if you download and install yourself. (which you could have done yourself when you purchased your vehicle).

There may be some variation for SYNC 3.4 versus SYNC 3 vehicles, but the information is essentially the same.

bbf2530: Thanks for the additional information - I have Sync 3.4 and still have map 1.19 despite a recent update to the latest within the past 2 weeks. I did get help from the concierge on that download site, and that's why I mentioned my new map file dates are now Dec 2019, but my daughter's new home, and complete new subdivision are still not included, so I can't use the Lincoln nav system to help me get there from unfamiliar starting points, etc. BTW she moved in October 2019, so even a map that is supposedly current as of March 31, 2020 is still behind. But I get it that it's easier for Waze and others who have millions of helpful users to keep up to date better, and of course they do that frequently. Even Google and Apple Maps have her new address.

Final note, I wasn't expecting a secret code to determine release dates. If you are going to put an obvious 2 year date number in your release, and perhaps even include a month, to make it actually mean something else doesn't make any sense to me. They may as well use something completely cryptic such as v. 1.2.3.4 for instance. Although once you learn the code, it's better than completely cryptic. Even though I'd been to that map site, I didn't browse looking for the details you shared. Thanks again!

I also appreciate you mentioning that the updates are offered (per valid VIN) at no additional charge. My previous cars had the same map issues with being outdated, but they charged up to $350 for a more current update...

Exactly. I've asked for them to be configurable like many features such as the rear seat occupant reminder. I'm real glad the rear seat one could be modified, and turned off in my case. It's also cause for alarm fatigue even for those who could benefit from it. Absent-mindedness will still allow that to be ignored after it hits the driver every single time they shut off the engine. To do it better, they will need to manage it the same as the air bag on/off sensor when a person is in the front passenger seat... But that might require more expensive sensors to determine if a small child is there.

I'd like to meet them and get into it with them, they need much more than "Chimes" to change that bit of poor parenting and utter obliviousness.

You, Stu and others were helpful on the missing cover. I’m waiting for the ball stud to come in before I install the cover. Especially after I heard it may be an engine heat issue that precipitated the cover deletion from finished product. Although the cover I ordered was available for the Nautilus. And that begs the question, “Why no recall to remove early 2020 build Corsair engine covers?”

Therefore, I’m more inclined to believe there was a supply chain issue and the Corsair was the chosen model to lose the cover due to its lower selling price.

Engine heat issue? Covers are used throughout the industry and on the same engine installed in other Ford products. I'd accept the "Supply chain" explanation if all those other deletions weren't present. No, this was cost cutting pure and simple, and incredibly poorly thought out.

Ford needs to decide if it wants to be a player in the luxury market or not. If he answer is yes, they'd do well to add the content luxury car buyers expect. If not, they can save the most money simply by cancelling Lincoln as they did Mercury. But turning Lincoln into Mercury, the "Fancy Ford" didn't work out too well for that division, there's no reason to expect a discontented, stripped down Lincoln will fare much better. History often doesn't repeat itself, but it most often rhymes.

I'd like to know what people love about their Lincoln Corsair - and what they don't love about it. Let's hear it!

Well I like the way it looks, but that's about it. It drives very rough at low speeds--I imagine a transmission problem. Makes little surges forward and back at 12 to 20 mph. Very annoying when you are stuck in slow traffic. The bumps when the auto start/stop comes on just adds to it. Many report that function not working--I wish mine didn't and turning it off each time you start up the car is annoying. The inside circulation button will sometimes stay on like I like it but mostly has to be turned on after every engine stop.The door handles don't "chirp" to show if locked or unlocked so you have to look back as you walk away to see if the mirror closed. The rain sensing window wipers go crazy then calm then crazy again. The homelink won't program (and I've done plenty of them in the past). The audio sources will sometimes show my Pandora app but not at all lately. The non retracting rear cargo cover has to be disconnected completely to get a tall box in and then there is no place to put it.

- Back Up Camera died / Replaced at the dealer - apparently Ford bought a bad batch of back up cams
- Sync 3.4 can be "laggy" and not responsive at time even after numerous updates
- Right tail light filled with condensation / replaced at dealer
- Middle tail light filled with condensation / replaced at dealer
- Rear rattle in the lift gate / fixed at dealer
- Dealer service - car has been dented multiple times at the dealer for the numerous repairs. Some of the dents the dealer fixed. Some of the dents I had a guy who is a PDR specialist repair them.
- Transmission slips when downshifting between 12-20 mph when stuck in stop and go traffic. Dealer said there is no fix for this.
- Travel Link no longer works after the latest Sync 3.4 update
- Rear carpeted wheel well liners would not stay against the wheel well. Dealer added an extra pin to hold the wheel well liner in place.
- Dealer had my car a month working with a Ford tech for a static sound when a song is on pause connected by bluetooth and USB. They never found the solution. I am just living with it.
- The use of the piano black on the HVAC/radio control area makes it a finger print magnet.

Overall it's a nice car. Too many trips to the dealer will most likely have me turning this in early.

I've had some be of the be same complaints and some others. I've already called and got my payoff on my the car lease. Looking around.

Keep in mind if you go to another brand Ford dealers don’t always play nice with lease buyouts. The payoff has to be taken care of by your originating dealer. They may slow down the process. I think Ford is the only auto lease set up that makes the payoff go through the originating dealer.

I've mentioned this before, and it still irritates me...small thing...LOL....but I don't like the fact that I CANNOT turn off the doors auto locking when I reach a certain speed... The manual says it can be done in Settings, "or see your dealer". "shop foreman" says it cannot be changed.

Will any of you be willing to look at your "Locks" settings to see if this option is available on yours I have '21 Reserve. Thank you! Like I said, it is a small thing,

My owner's manual says the following about the autolock feature:

Autolock (If Equipped)

Autolock locks all the doors when all of the
following occur:

� All doors are closed.

� The ignition is on.

� You shift into any gear putting your
vehicle in motion.

� Your vehicle reaches a speed greater
than 12 mph (20 km/h).

Autolock repeats when:

� You open then close any door while the
ignition is on and your vehicle speed is
9 mph (15 km/h) or lower.

� Your vehicle reaches a speed greater
than 12 mph (20 km/h).

It says nothing about whether I can disable it. About auto*un*lock,
it says:

Enabling or Disabling

You can enable or disable the feature from
the touchscreen or an authorized dealer can
do it for you. See Settings (page 478).

(I find nothing about it in the settings section starting at page 478,
but that's another matter ...)

I have to admit that I've not looked for either on the touchscreen
in the car, because I wouldn't be inclined to disable either feature.

I can't promise to actually check, as I don't use the car very
frequently ...

I experience that with the 2.0 engine. You have to press the gas pedal at low speeds very lightly.
