Rear middle console

Is there any mod available for the 2023 to install the mini console once the “full console” has been removed?

I'm not aware of an official mod for the console swap. Do you have the full console and plan to remove it?
It seems some have replaced the mini with the full console and there was carpeting exposed. see Aviator Full Rear Console
If you want, you could start a conversation with Moondog66 and discuss this. Apparently, the full console also has wiring attached to it.

Hoping to bring this thread back up since I just was able to obtain a full console...Yay Looking at the new, full, console, it looks relatively easy to put in.

Now, what I thought was the easy part, I'm now a little stumped. How do you get the mini one out?

I took all of the rubber pieces out of the mini (red arrows) thinking I'd see some screws/bolts but nothing. Before I start prying, I was wondering how @Moondog66 or @capajamas72 was able to get it out? Did you put like a thin screwdriver and pry the cupholder out between the plastic and the chrome?

If I recall correctly, the mini console is held to the bracket with clips. It pulls straight up off the bracket, the bracket is held in with 4 bolts. The front 2 are fairly easy to access, the rear 2 are under the carpet at the back. Removal of the middle captain's chairs is required to complete the swap. Hope this helps, good luck.

Awesome Moondog. I'll give it a go.

Much appreciated

When I got my console, I didn't get the bracket, side trays, and wiring harness. If you didn't get that you'll need at least the bracket and wiring harness to complete the swap. The side trays cover the bolts for the console.

That part I'm good with. I was able to find one with brackets and the wiring. (And the correct trim) I did find a couple but they were not the correct trim. Once you start looking at adding the correct trim, prices do add up.

FYI, my 2020 has the low step-over console. I guess it's useful for getting to the 3rd row, especially if you have children. I don't have the 2022 Lincoln Order Guide yet so I am not able to check that out. On the 2022 Explorer, the 2nd-row console shows as a Deleted item.

My 2022 grand touring has same low ctr console. I like it that way because we can fit something long in trunk w/3rd row seat down & it fits all the way up to front ctr console w/o sitting on or scratching 2nd row ctr console.

Has anyone converted the full size console to a mini console in a recent year Aviator? I'm thinking of buying one with the big console with the plan to downsize to the smaller one. Would like to know if anyone has the process and parts numbers to do it. Also, is there big holes left in the carpet?

Welcome to the Forum. 👋
It would be very helpful if you were to add the year and trim of your Aviator to your profile so it shows in the margin.
As far as I know, you would have to source a complete mini console from a site like eBay or a wrecker's yard.
Reading this post, it seems that by removing the full console, you will have some carpet missing. Rear middle console

Peter - you're evolving to everyone's search assistant on this forum ;). Perhaps you should get a fee for such services!

I'm happy to do it. I'm retired and have the time to help out where I can. When I joined the Ford Explorer Forum back in 2010, I didn't know much about navigating these forums, so any assistance was welcome. A fee would only serve to put me in a higher tax bracket. :ROFLMAO:
