So i recently reserved a standard trim 2020 corsair from a third party dealer who's bought it from the ford/lincoln dealership directly (I've called and verified that the car is indeed brand new and purchased from them).
A few days ago i was there assessing the car. I pop open the hood and lo and behold the engine is without an appearance cover. The employees at the dealership claim they don't know how that is. I told them to open the hood of another 2020 standard corsair (which was already also sold) and i did infact see the cover there.
I did some digging around and saw some reviews on youtube. The 2021 corsairs (or at least some of the ones i saw reviews of) had no engine covers, yet aa of the 2020 reviews had them.
Any idea why this might be? I read on some forum somewhere that all corsairs produced after june 2020 came without the engine cover due to supply chain issues, but i wasn't able to verify that. If anyone has any idea/can point me to some official lincoln documentation as to why this may be, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm just about to click on "Place Order" for $92.xx online for the cover and bolt and shipping,....but I am hesitating.... Do I really need this, or am I just annoyed that Lincoln deleted it. I will likely only open the hood 2 or 3 times a year. How much sound will it really muffle? I can certainly afford it, but I can also afford many other things that I have bought and never use....

FYI, I showed my wife the engine with the missing cover. Her comment, "It looks like an engine"

I am more annoyed with its deletion, than feel I really have a need for it.

Depends if it will make you happy.

Get it.

Agreed 100% with your annoyance. When I drove mine home for the first time with that new car excitement, and I opened the hood I was...insulted. I bought a Lincoln for a reason, and looking at that really ugly engine wasn't it. You might rarely open the hood, but knowing its dressed properly will make you feel better, the $100 is well spent. That Lincoln/Ford should have included this, or that you shouldn't have to do this is besides the point. make the car yours, and let them know what you think of their decision.

This is a chance for Lincoln to change perceptions but things like giving the reserve the hard touch plastic on the doors, removing the temp LED screen, changing the rear cup holders to match the escape, removing the small net in the cargo area, not providing the cargo cover, making the spare donut an option without offering run flat tires, removing the engine cover, etc leave a bad impression
I recall saying the same thing on another thread.....

They can cost cut themselves right out of sales. Heck, if they want to save money, why not discontinue the car completely?

Right? They’re making a mistake.
We spoke about this before. I guess I’m glad
I got a 20.

Yes, I'm glad mine's a '20. And unlike "early builds", my Sept. build is flawless and w/o incident. And I really do love all those little things they deleted. The delight of pressing the edge of the rear armrest and having the cup holders slowly unfolding, or the little LED temp lights.

I basically feel the same way. Today is just a bad day. I made the final payment to the funeral home for my Mom's burial this coming Monday. VERY long story that led me to have to buy a new car, the Corsair...

For those who are interested: Mom (89) died. Four days later, while taking things from her apartment to the Goodwill in my 2019 Acura RDX Advance, I was rear ended (while stopped) by someone going about 35-40MPH. The RDX did its job, and neither myself or my daughter sustained any injuries. I live in Arizona. This "someone" was a Mexican National driving a Mexican plated vehicle with questionable Mexican insurance. The RDX sustained (by current estimate) $12,700 in damage, and was traded in for the 2021 Corsair. The Lincoln dealer saw the RDX after the accident and knows it is now in the body shop. They took $2,000 off the KBB and Edmunds amounts I expected to get for it. I hope to claim "diminished value" when the RDX is finally finished, but don't expect it will be easy. My insurance (Geico) is repairing it under the Uninsured/underinsured coverage and I paid a $500 deductible. They said it would take 24 business days to complete. I no longer own it. I don't carry rental car coverage, as I rarely need it as we do have anther car, but with the death in the family, I needed a second car. Normally, the responsible party's insurance would provide a rental.

Oh, my JB...I am so sorry for your loss! And all the other agita. My goodness. Really.

Get the engine cover, and while you're at it anything else you want, you deserve it. My go to comfort after trauma (or as a simple treat) is a new car, I hear you....I have 5 of them, not including my wife's. She smiles knowingly and understandably. The Corsair is really lovely, it's charms become more apparent and more meaningful the longer you experience them and get accustomed to

Unfortunately my January build had/has a few issues…

Back up cam replaced / Ford bought a bad batch / dealer dented up lift gate / dealer fixed dents in lift gate

Center and left tail lights replaced due to condensation build up

Rear lift gate rattled / fixed

Speaker has a short static sound when turned up to 30 when song is paused. They replaced the APIM. That didn’t fix it. They replaced a few other things that didn’t fix it. Ford wanted them to replace all the speakers. I decided against it. Wasn’t worth it. I’ll live with it. I give the dealer credit keeping it for 30 days and working with a Ford field tech.

TSB installed to stop gas fill from clicking early.

Ordered from Sunrise Ford Parts online. ~$90 shipped with both parts.

"Short static" sounds like a grounding issue. If my dealer dented or damaged my car I'd become apololeptic. Accidents happen, but most like that can and should be avoided.

As much as they try for uniform and consistent build quality, I suppose each car is really different. Maybe it's "New modelitis", maybe the pandemic..I could not imagine working on an assembly line anywhere with a mask and those plexiglass panels and observing distancing. Bu

Ford field tech and dealer mechanic couldn’t figure it out. They had the car a month. I quit.

I'm stunned to think anyone would not buy a car because of a lack of engine cover.

Wow. Flame away.

I don’t think anyone in this thread said they wouldn’t buy the car due to a lack of an engine cover. If that’s what you got out of this oh well.

I bought the car, without ever opening the hood! LOL When I got home and a neighbor wanted to see the car, I discovered it looked very odd under the hood. This site helped me alot! Thanks all!

Its absence would not have stopped me from buying, but I would have gotten it included in the deal. I bought it today online. No biggy. It just looks unfinished with out it.

Someone said he was surprised Ford/Lincoln would delete something that would save a significant amount of money with total sales but at the expense of future sales. Or something along those lines.

I think that poster (I may be incorrect) was stating that with all of the things deleted from the 21 that were on the 20 could impact future sales.

You could be right. Of course, I still think those things, while neat, shouldn't impact a decision to purchase. But hey that's just me. I respect what others feel, just to clarify.

I think you are correct, "That" poster was fairly clear to those with minimal reading comprehension. Wait... I'm sure of that.

Are you still mad because you think I referred to you as a troll in a post many months ago even though I made it almost immediately clear thereafter that I was not referring to you? Yet, you seem to be denigrating my reading comprehension.
