Town Car air suspension problems? Read this thread!

Could be solenoids, module, air line leak on the line, leaky air bags , bad o-rings ,etc..etc...these air ride suspensions can have 1 or multiple things go wrong with them at any given time, which is why I went with coil springs in the rear of mine. Cheaper than any major air suspension component and more reliable that will usually last the life of the vehicle.....the ride is exactly the same also to me.

Oh man I really want keep the air ride given it work normally .I thought maybe air bags ok if leak would stay constant down ...not as easy I want fix but can't keep driving in a low rider when it choose . Could out be a few easy things to check ..and hope the rest ok

You could spray your air bags and\or solenoids with a solution of dish soap and water to see if you have developed a slow leak, other than that, it's really either a bad module, a malfunctioning compressor, a faulty air dryer, or a combination of all of these, that's why I didn't choose to keep mine, my compressor was shot and my bags were leaking at the solenoids and dry rotted leaks developed on the bottom. Instead of chasing the problems and spending over $400.00, I went with a $60 set of Moog variable rate springs and Moog insulators and never had a problem since, and it stays at factory ride height so no trouble lights and no guessing which component has, or is failing. Whatever you choose, good luck.

Look on Rock Auto and EBay. Bags and compressor aren’t that much money. I bought some for an 01 I had. Sent the bags with the new owner when I sold it kept the compressor. Don’t know why. Lol

Compressors are about $290 shipped, bags are about $100 a piece shipped, that's going with Arnott on RockAuto

Those are mostly the Chinesium no name ones on eBay that are much cheaper, consensus has it that they will only last a year or 2 ?? I was quoting RockAuto prices with Arnott as the manufacturer.

It was also 2 or 3 years ago come to think of it. Prices go up. Lol. Don’t remember the brand

Yep....prices are way up on everything.

I replaced mine back around September and used the Chinesium set from eBay. Cost me 60 bucks for the pair and no issues so far.
The previous set I replaced was also from eBay but the Arnott brand, and lasted 5 years

I actually posted pics of the pump I also bought but don’t see them on here. First time I opened the box since I got it lol

Mine still has the OEM pump, dryer, and solenoids

Is dyi hard to do and only if I cut off after and on before it's staying up now more so I'm lost as what could be but if it makes t major might just have try switching to spring on my own ...any suggestions and thanks to all for the help

DYI is not bad. you can do the repair over a weekend.
Best to start with the bags. jack up the vehicle to allow the bags to drop. Spray them down with soap and water and watch for bubbles.
The base of the bags will show a lot of cracks in the rubber and that's usually where the leaks begin

DIY is not hard at all, the only bad part about it is getting your hands up in there to twist the bags from the solenoids or vice versa. You could also take the airline off the solenoids if you're changing out the o-rings or the solenoids themselves.

In my opinion, it was easier to remove the air line from the solenoid and install the solenoid into the bag on the bench, then insert the air line once bag in place.

I found it much easier to remove the airline from the solenoid.
Those solenoids can be stubborn and it makes life simpler when you can bring the bag and solenoid to the work bench

Hi all, hope your all doing well! I am reading all 13 current pages of this discussion now to help find a solution.

2008 Town Car Executive L
Purchased at 46,000 miles, currently at 106,000.

Driving home yesterday and the ride got bumpy out of no where a few minutes away from home, realized the back end was to the floor.

-Reset the system, no changes.
-Can hear the compressor kicking on/off when starting the car.
-No dash lights on.
-No warning signs, car not sitting as high lately, etc.

Any help would be appreciated. Would like to gather information before taking it to the shop or diving in myself. Blessings!
