There was an interesting article yesterday in the Detroit Free Press ( https://www.freep.com/story/money/c...rearview-camera-recall-stop-sale/70547408007/ ) discussing the stop sale on the Ford Explorer which also affects the Aviator. Basically, it suggested there was still no official fix for the back up camera or a timeline.

Today, my dealership called me. He reitereated that our order placed back in February had been produced but was just awaiting the fix, and he was being given a new ETA of Sept 19, although he did not have high confidence. He asked if I'd like to consider switching to a Nautilus Black Label or Navigator.

From what I understand, the all new 2024 Lexus TX will be a more direct competitor to the Aviator. Have you taken a look at that one?

I've got my eye on that one. If not to replace my Aviator, but maybe a replacement for my Acura MDX Hybrid Advance.

Just curious, has anyone on here entertained a 3-row Genesis GV80? For the things that matter to me in a vehicle, it seems to be the most comparable to the Aviator, but I have not test driven one, so I am basing that solely on photos and reviews. Would love to hear others' thoughts or experience.

No, but I did have a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit that I traded in on this Aviator. I LOVED the Jeep, but wanted a PHEV, and Jeep doesn't make the 4Xe in a L (3 row) yet. I did initially consider a Volvo XC90 ( I have a T8 (PHEV) Volvo S90 that I LOVE), but I didn't like the rear seating/cargo near as much as my Jeep, and the Lincoln was similar. Not quite as long but noticeably wider. Also Mazda's CX90 seems real nice for the money, especially the P{HEV version, just low on power to me.

Hi again, All. So I am thinking of scheduling my Volvo for an interior detail in preparation for selling it if and when the Aviator finally arrives. I know someone here was told a potential date of sept 19 for the camera fix to be complete. Should I aim at middle to end of September to sell my current vehicle or are we thinking this could all go into an October (or even later) .
I know no one has a crystal ball but it seems some of you have a better relationship with your dealer than I do. Considering he’s not even mentioned the recall to me. Thanks so much for your thoughts!

I don't know if the fix is scheduled for September 19th but that was the date I was given for the ETA of my Aviator and another member was given the same date. I believe everything is pure speculation at this point. My 48 month lease is up on Oct. 31st.

I was advised that there will be no 2024 and that any changes etc will be carried over to the 2025 model. Makes sense since there are over 22,000 vehicles sitting in Chicago awaiting the 'fix'. The 2024 Explorer will be a very short run with no changes as well.

Many members who have ordered a 2023, like myself, still haven't received them so there are probably very few that would be a very limited market for a 2024. The 2023 Aviator began production at the end of June 2022 and orders are still being accepted at this time when normally it would the 2024 that would start being built. Currently there isn't even a date for the acceptance of a 2024 Aviator nor a date for final 023 orders.

Sorry if I missed it, what Volvo do you have now? I have a 2019 S90 Inscription T8 (and LOVE it), this Aviator is my 2nd PHEV, love that power!

This won’t help one’s with orders on hold but for anyone looking to take possession of an Aviator that’s on the lot if it was an LCTP, Lincoln Courtesy Transport vehicle those are technically used vehicles and can be sold and delivered. 3,000 miles or 3 months is the usual use time and it entitles the buyer to an addtl $2,000 discount as well.

Hey I was told by lincoln a couple weeks ago that Jan 5th was opening for ordering the 24 aviator and they have no fix for the camera and are actually giving up on the idea of fixing the ones on the racetrack. But we all hear different things. But I even called the dealership and told them we wanted to reorder on Jan 5th

Magna Industries is working like crazy on producing the new cameras so that the stop ship/sales order can be lifted. When the first batch of cameras has been completed, the cameras and associated software will first be installed on the vehicles sitting in Chicago. Then the next batch will be installed on those vehicles already on the road and subject to the recall. As posted a few times, don't be surprised if there actually is no '2024' Aviator. Any changes are likely to be carried over to the 2025 model.
This issue is reported to be costing Ford $270 million dollars as the entire rearview camera system is being replaced.

Agreed there. Have you heard anything about what they are going to do for customers with vehicles sitting at the speedway for half a year in the weather and elements.
