MY2023 Aviator Order Timeline Tracking thread

Newest update from my dealer: ETA 2nd week of July (production start of 4/6). I am assuming this is a best case scenario. Really disappointing and may have to consider moving on from the car in earnest now...

I read a post today that mentioned that the production line has been idled and then when the recall has been fixed that those vehicles on the production line will get it before the 9,000+ currently waiting for the 'fix'.
I have tried to find the post but haven't been successful yet. That is what a member was told when he was going to order a 2023 Aviator.
Found it; Is 4% discount off MSRP a good deal?

That's understandable since the 9000 are already sitting in a lot. But you would think they would also need "all hands on deck" to clear the lots for the batch as they have to have somewhere to stage them before shipping. It's all disappointing. My wife is already second guessing the decision to get the car and I can't find anything similar that isn't "ugly" or even more expensive.

I received a similar update from my Dealer today, with an estimated delivery of July 11-17. This is was a production date of March 29.

My 2023 Explorer-ST was built on May 2, then it was placed on a “scheduled hold” and moved to a holding yard at the Factory on May 2nd, so still shows “in production” since build hasn’t been completed. My dealer shows no ETA on when it will be completed, delivered, etc., just that it’s being held at Ford.

I have a feeling that's an optimistic date but I hope that your dealer is correct.

Pulled my aviator order today and went to the Navigator L, picking up Monday. Not as sporty but bigger. These children can only wait so long so I had to pull the trigger.

So if you are in the southern WI area, there will be a sweet BLGT showing up there at some point.

This may not mean much, but 40 Aviators reappeared on my Dealer's inventory website today after having been unlisted for a couple weeks, including mine as "in transit". The Lincoln tracking website still says "in production" from March 29.

Received an email from Lincoln Client Services that my ETA has now moved to July 22nd from June 12th. I need to have it no later than July 31st in order to get the extra benefits for my 2023 lease.

I have what I think may be a really stupid question. I put a deposit of $2500 down for my Aviator back on 3/9 when I ordered it. I put this on a credit card that has an outrageously high interest rate intending on paying it off with the sale of my car. But with the whole delay thing, it is just sitting there accruing interest. Do they typically hold your deposit like this despite the month upon month delays?

Have you spoken to the dealership about possibly reversing the payment and seeing if you could put less money down? I've only had to put a downpayment on the 1st of the 5 vehicles that I have leased from my dealership. I'm guessing that it will likely be at least another month before things start moving again. Have you considered a short-term bank loan to pay the card off?

Peter

When I ordered mine. They took CC No., but didn’t put anything on it. Their deposit was to be $500.00, if they charged card. I believe they would only charge card if I backed out.

Thank you. I just called dealer, who said he would need to ask manager who is off today. When I ordered it 3/9, I was told it would go into production 4/23 (they tweaked an existing order), so a tenative arrival date of mid-May was given to me. The only other time I heard from the dealer was when I called them toward the end of May and they were still hopeful for an early June arrival. It still says In production 5/2, and last update was 5/2. I just feel like $2500 is a lot of money to hold on to if the car is not ariving until July or August, which I am getting the sense may be the more accurate timeline based on all of you on this thread. Thanks so much for the responses. It is not breaking the bank for me by any means, so no need to take out a bank loan, just seems like an expense (the monthly interest I am paying on my down payment) I do not really deserve to have.

Mine had the same production date and the emails I received from Lincoln Client Service have since extended the delivery dates several times. The lastest date that I received this past Monday stated July 22nd.
I believe everything depends on getting the recall issue resolved.

I contacted my dealer today for an update as my Aviator remains "in production" since March 29. While he said there is no update yet, they are being told a software fix for the backup camera recall may become available in August, after which the hold on deliveries and sales may be lifted. He said nothing is set in stone, however.

As that will be going on 7 months since I placed my order, he offered to cancel it and refund us our $750 deposit. I'm wondering if it makes sense to keep waiting, or if Lincoln will offer any incentives once a glut of MY23 Aviators hit the lots towards the end of the year.

I ordered mine on Oct. 31st. Although the tracker shows it in Production, my salesman was able to print out a page for me yesterday showing it has been "Produced".
It is now likely sitting with the other 22,000 vehicles at the Chicago Speedway waiting for the recall fix.
The fix has been determined to be a hardware issue and will result in all the 360 rearview cameras having to be replaced. I was told it could be September before this is addressed.

Meanwhile, when I suggested to my dealer that they perhaps take a $1000 deposit versus the $2500 they took from me and cashed, he gave me some convoluted solution, which was basically that they could refund the $2500 to my credit card once I come in with a $2500 check. I felt like they insulted my intelligence, and also his message on my answering machine, Which he left after consulting his manager, began “we’ve never had this question before,” as if I was being so cheap or greedy. Meanwhile, I just felt like them holding my $2500 in definitely seemed like a big ask. Especially considering, as I said in the previous post, I cannot sell my current vehicle, because I need to drive it if my new car is not ready yet.
Sorry, I know that that was not your question, but, the fact is, if you are comfortable with them, holding a deposit, then, by all means wait. I think it’s the greatest car ever, and I will wait as long as it takes. I just don’t think they should be able to hold someone’s money for that long.

You put the $2500 on your credit card so the dealer didn't cash it. So in a matter of speaking, you cashed the $2500. I'm guessing this is the first time you have dealt with this dealer. Of the 5 vehicles I've leased from my dealer, they only asked for a deposit ($2000) on the first one.
I was advised the recall which is a camera replacement fix may be in September.

Peter

I would get the refund run through to your card, and then hand over a cheque with a stop payment done on it.
