Corsair lead time

Cadillac has the exact same issues. Husband has an order in for one months ago and the dates keep moving without any communications by the sales rep. It's been 5 months now....still no car. So, it's not just Ford. I heard just today that Tesla is having very serious chip issues and closures in China. It's affecting sales now with even Tesla.

I wasn't going to finance any of my '22 Reserve, but when offered 0% in late March 2022, I could not pass up financing about $22,000 for 36 months.
YES YES!! Im trying to rewrite my loan to extend the time. I can take that extra $150/month to pay off higher rate debt.

I'm curious: which Cadillac did your husband order? My (admittedly close) second choice after the Corsair would have been an XT4, though that was back in 2020. When we decided this year to stay with another Corsair, the research we did was a lot more virtual than it had been in 2020, which was actually in Lincoln's favour, because we would have wanted to be able to test drive the xt4 again, and compare to a Corsair if we'd been leaning more towards the Cadillac this time, and well, frankly, test driving *most* cars is quite hit and miss (with a lot more miss than hit) these days. In (pre-lockdown) 2020, I was able to walk into a dealership and ask to test drive a candidate vehicle, at this trim level, or at least with these options, and they pretty much all were able to accomodate (at least close enough that I had similar powertrains and interior comfort to what I would have been buying for each candidate) without hesitation.

@syl I also briefly considered the XT4 when shopping for a "premium/luxury" brand crossover in late 2018/early 2019. As you mentioned, at that time it was relatively easy to go to a dealership and test drive a vehicle close to what one was considering. (More on this in a minute) I test drove the Cadillac XT4, Acura RDX, Infinity QX50, and several Volvos. I would not consider the European brands. The XT4 was nice, but was way more money when equipped as I wanted (in the US anyway) than I was prepared to spend. AND I really didn't want to buy a GM product.

At the time Lincoln's entry in this segment was the MKC. I had helped a close friend buy one in the past year and personally was not a fan. In Jan 2019, I ended up buying the '19 Acura RDX Advance FWD (I think it has a different trim name in Canada) Sadly, I was rear-ended by a drunk 19 year old female going 45-50 MPH in April '21. Thankfully, NO injuries! But my RDX had more than $12,000 in damages, and would require 6-8 weeks in the body shop. There was no rental car coverage for me, and I needed a car. (sound familiar?) Now that the MKC had morphed into the Corsair, I drove one and was totally sold! My Ford/Lincoln dealer that I loved (having bought a couple of Escapes from) accepted my damaged RDX as trade, and gave me an "as repaired" trade-in value... which was just short of the "non-damaged" amount.

Anyway, my point of this long-winded post? I HOPE car buying gets back to the point where we as buyers can go to a dealership, sit in and test drive a few vehicles before buying, then actually drive home with a new car that day, or within a few days..

This current situation, just completely STINKS as a buyer. Dealers and manufacturers must know that their buyers pay their bills. Yes, of course, I have read all about the supply chain issues, but I have also read that dealers may go to this new "order a vehicle" way of selling. as it reduces their carrying costs, and seems to provide dealers with the best profits they have ever experienced.

VERY sorry for long post!

For what it's worth, even in 2020 I ordered the Corsair, and waited months for it (ordered late February, delivered early August -- though that delay was longer than had been expected specifically because of the original covid lockdowns). I was, and remain, ok with that. But being able to go to the dealership and tell them I'd like to test drive *this* car, with *that* powertrain, and then place an order for the minor details, such as colour, interior finish, towing capability, etc. was really quite worthwhile. And yes, that others could go, and if they wanted (or needed) to choose from dealer stock, they'd likely still find what they wanted, even if it was probably in stock only in white or black, made a difference.

I made a point of preparing myself to order the car and wait. The lockdowns were unexpected (at least to me at the time), and extended the wait time, but I could afford to wait. And I would have recommended to other car buyers at the time to take a similar approach. But there were cars to choose from for test driving.

The difference now, and that you are commenting may become the norm, with which I agree with you is *not* of benefit to car buyers, is that we may not have a choice, going forward, to buy a car from dealer stock. That does not look good, from this side of the transaction. It's easy when you know what you want, but after a few years or more in one vehicle, when the time comes to replace it, the only way to know how suitable the current offerings are for one's purposes and lifestyle, is to test drive more than a few candidates. but if I want to order one with all wheel drive and the dealership has only a front-wheel drive available, for example, or I want the ecoboost version, and they have only the fully electric model in stock for test driving ... Or I want 18" wheels, but the 20s are better sellers, so the dealer has those, suddenly my test drive isn't all that effective.

Ideally, you narrow down to a small handful, and drive those more extensively, perhaps renting each briefly, in order to get more time in them.

When I picked up my new Corsair Reserve last week, the dealer told me that a large percentage of their chips came from Ukraine, so the supply has dwindled even more.
LMAO!!! Ukraine doesn't make chips!!!I work in the Semiconductor business and no way Ukraine makes chips.. I dont doubt a delay but he doesnt know what he's talking about if He's quoting Ukraine as a delay.. No Ukraine supplies some of the raw material and gases used in the industry, but they are not the only supplier of the raw materials. Ukraine does not make microchips

[
Ukraine was known as a key auto chip maker for years. Those chips are not really state of the art. State of the art are Apple M1 and now M2 and Intel latest. Auto chips are fairly old style and cheap. Auto guys and gals need to upgrade and consolidate systems to reduce the number of chips needed. My opinion of course.

My experience in talking to a dealer owner, they are not discounting these days unless you are under a Ford plan like A,x,Y. You get those thru employer agreements. Costco has a plan with Lincoln which is close the the XPlan. You could also join the Mustang Club which offers an xplan. Good luck. They are selling everything quickly at my dealer. The Corsair GT is very hot right now. One of their best sellers in history.
I work in the chip business and I can tell you 100% Ukraine does not make the chips.. I think its a fundamental issue of understanding why people are getting this wrong. Ukraine supplies 70% of the gas Neon and a lot of the C4F6 gas which is used in a lot in manufacturing chips worldwide.. Ukraine does not have the facilities or the technology to manufacture chips. Now is Ukraine the only supplier of these gases? NO .. but the other suppliers are not ready for the amount of orders they are now seeing right now so only the big dogs ( intel, Apple, Micron ) have the cash flow to grab these assets first.. while the smaller fabs have to wait or get lucky.

Cool. Maybe you will get lucky like I did when I ordered on 12/2/21 and it was made on 1/7/22 and in my garage by 1/26/22. Best car I have ever bought and I am in my late sixties. I've had a lot of cars in my life which started with a 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 when I was 16. By far this car is in the top 3 best.

When I first met my wife, she had a '65 Ford Fairlane 500, white with blue interior. Beautiful car. At the time, I had '62 1/2 Mercury Comet, goldy-tan with tan interior. A nice car but not as nice as the 500. This was in '72. 8 tracks were all the rage. But I regress...

I certainly hope it comes that fast. Just today I got an email pushing it out one more week to the week of Aug 15th. I have a vin, so that's at least a good thing. I'm pretty accustomed to this waiting thing as I had Bronco on order since 8/16/21 ( still unscheduled) and an F-150 that took 8 months from order to delivery.

Congrats, @timsvt — your order has been pushed to the same week as mine. I've been posting and following the WHEN WILL MY CORSAIR BE BUILT thread.

I ordered my Corsair GT on April 1 (yup, April Fool's Day), and on April 4, I got the perfunctory acknowledgement from Lincoln. My Corsair GT is the basic model (no additional options), so you'd think that would help speed the process. On Thursday (June 23), I got a notice from Lincoln. My Corsair GT is scheduled to be built the week of August 15... AND with that, I finally got the VIN! The window sticker is not yet available.

Great! Look for the Window sticker to become available 2 weeks to 4 days before the actual production DAY ( not week) . Basically you get a build week until they have every part, then they give it a day during the build week.

The key must be ordering basic (no additional options). My GT was a Feb order with all the options except bigger tires and it's not been pulled for production yet.

Not necessarily basic models only, but it has a lot to do with parts availability as well as labor issues and assembly line uptime. As we are seeing, there are a lot of variables in the construction of a vehicle.

You can buy / order from any dealer. They will ship it to you as you can sign all the papers electronically. My dealer, Ted Britt Ford of Chantilly, VA is Lincolns 4th largest seller of Corsair SUVs so you could call them and order then have them ship it to you. The dealer owner told me that Lincoln treats dealers who have volume better than lower sales dealers. The larger dealers get priority when customer order. Might cost you a couple hundred dollars to do that otherwise you fly up here to Washington Dulles Airport and drive about 5 miles to the dealer then drive it home. That's what I would do. Here is their information should you care to go that route: Ted Britt Lincoln The sales rep: (703) 673-2316 Mahlik Higgs

Mahlik was fantastic. The dealer is always fantastic in my experiences. I've been a customer since 2000 and they have always treated me well. I can vouch for them and I trust them. I can't say that for many others so that is a strong endorsement. They are extremely flexible and will work with you to get what you want.
Hope this helps.

Syl, Sorry I did not see your question earlier. He ordered the CT5 which is a 4 door sedan not an SUV. He likes plain cars with low tech on them. I am the opposite and go high tech all the way. To each his/her own.

I received an Email that the build date for my GT is August 15. if Lincoln starts building on this day, how long does it take to build?

How soon after the build date will the GT be in my driveway?

Assuming your build week stays the same it would usually take 3-6 weeks to get to your dealer after that build day. I’ve noticed on my other orders they typically take two days to be built and about 3 weeks to arrive.

That being said:
The delivery time can definitely vary depending on your location and the amount of other vehicles that need to be shipped to your local port.
