I was supposed to pick up my new 23 Aviator 2 weeks ago today but was told Lincoln had halted sales of all affected inventory until the 360 camera issue could be resolved. Dealer is still unable to provide any information on when that’ll happen - was wondering if anybody here has heard any news regarding where they’re at in the process?

My ordered Aviator was scheduled for delivery at the end of May. I've been checking and waiting and just today received an email from the president of Lincoln that due to the camera issue and delivery would be in about 60 days - that's 4th quarter 2023 (in November)!. That's totally unacceptable and puts me in a predicament.

What is the current status of your Aviator? I believe mine was supposed to be delivered around the same time.
I ordered mine on Oct. 31st and on April 3rd it showed "In production". On August 31st the status changed to "Built" and on Sept. 12th it said it had "Shipped". An email a few days later confirmed it was in transit with an ETA of Sept. 29th.
They are installing the cameras and software in the 5,000+ Aviators that are built and sitting on lots in Chicago at the rate of 800 per week.

New recall out. ‘Bonus bolt’ may be in transmission. If found tranny must be replaced. Aviators affected were built in time frame highlighted.

I’m still showing a lot of our cars ‘at the plant’. This is another reason they may still be there. Seems like only 32 so far.

What’s even worse is you guys are paying for a new car but getting one that’s “technically” a year old value wise. I would ask for something or start a class action suit or totally cancel your order and order a 2024. I mean I make sense right ? Your car leaves the lot and it goes down like what 10% or something ? Then it’s a 2023 and it’s almost 2024 so value wise it’s a year old. What’s your thoughts ? Am I wrong ?

A class action suit would only work if the consumer was harmed.
There is no one compelling the consumer to buy the car that has not been delivered.
And until the vehicle is delivered, there is no completed transaction.
The new car warranty and in servoce date would start from that point.
If the year old thing is an issue, I would suggest buying a 2024 unit.

Depreciation is going to happen no matter what the model year is purchased. And new car depreciation is significant for all models and all makes shortly after the vehicle is delivered.

There have been a few posts indicating that there won't be a 2024 and any planned changes will be carried over to the 2025 model.
The 2024 Explorer will only have a 2 month production run beginning in January and be a carry-over of the 2023 model. It's called a VIN Roll.

Not talking about warranty and such. What if you bought it outright or put a lot down and wanted to trade or sell it. Wouldn’t whoever is buying it or taking it in a trade give you the old “well it’s a year old already lol” you’d probably get a lot less right ?

You’re right. But then again nobody forced you to buy it.

Not likely a significant difference.

All new cars depreciate a large amount when placed in service.
A 2023 model and a 2024 model both equipped the same and both have the same mileage.
The 2023 will likely sell for less. Just not that much less than the 2024.

And you have to know that a sales person (or the used car manager) is going to say whatever they need to say to get a better price. If one were to trade in get that statement, sure! If i was a used car manger taking in a trade, I might say that. It doesn't mean much. And particularily to me as I would sell the ride on a retail basis. There are so many outlets to do that.

Very few retail people sell or trade like that any more. Most new/used vehicles were owned by an entity not owned privately. On a retail basis this would be very rare and for the most part hypothetical. And if one was in that position, there is nothing to prevent the person backing out of the tranasction when the vehicle IS available. And then buying a newer model year!

This is also not mentioning what will probably be a 3-5% MSRP increase in the 24. Lesser rebates, lower discounts. I think one can make a decent deal on a 23 and be just a good off.

You are correct. What don’t make sense to me is the people who ordered last year when the order banks opened are mostly still waiting. The people who ordered after got theirs already. Been many cases like that on here. Yes a good incentive on a 2023 at the end of the year would be great. Also there are many 2023 on the lots now. So why not cancel your order and get maybe an even better deal on one in stock ?

I have a couple 24s ordered already. I can neither confirm nor deny going at it with anyone without permission from the secretary…..

Hi DD. Yes, that discussion had to do with whether the 2024 Corsair Dealer Order Guide and 2024 Corsair Order Bank were open/available in the last week of August/first few days of September. In that discussion, my usual sources were incomplete, when the 2024 Corsair Order Guide had actually been released ~8/24.
So I was incorrectly stating they were not available/open. And 7.62Kolectr provided the correct information that they were available/open. As you may recall.

Now in this thread, it is getting a bit confusing as to who is discussing the 2024 Aviator and who is discussing the 2024 Corsair. At least for me.
