360 camera recall halts sales

Worst thing was to jump a chain while pedaling really hard that drop to the cross bar......well, that hurt.
This reminds me, I need to put the racing bike I bought in 1979 after my wreck, into the Aviator and drop it off to get furbished up, new wheel bearings, stuff like that. I need to get into shape and show these Gen-xers how to ride.

Also, check your math,at 57 @PaulinAL is not a Boomer... (I technically am, but at the tail end of the 18 year range, realistically it is mainly more for the late 1940s to mid 1950s.)
And yes I had noticed Auggiesdad incorrectly labeled me a boomer despite me barely qualifying for X by a mere few months, but I chose not to correct him because unlike my millennial offspring I have respect for my elders 😉

What's odd is I haven't seen any issues with backup camera in mine, or received any letter. So, is mine "immune"?

My understanding is the recall notices to affected owners won’t go out from Ford until late June

Spoke to dealer yesterday - it’s been 4 weeks since sales were halted they met with Lincoln rep and he STILL had nothing on the fix or when they can resume selling 😳
I was advised that when a resolution to the issue is found, it will be put on the vehicles on the production line first and then on those that waiting to be shipped. I heard that the only vehicles being built now are those that do not have the 360-degree rearview camera and therefore not affected by the recall.

Has anybody actually received the Frickin' 360 Recall letter? What's happening with it?

Just received word that the issue is hardware, not software, and the cameras have to be replaced. ETA is September!!
Apparently, there are 20,000 vehicles parked awaiting the fix. Dealers are being advised.

That's what I guessed last week on the Explorer forum, cool. Where did you get that info?

From May 2023

Also from May to dealerships
On the above letter, top of the second page for customer notification.
Also notice this is supplimnt #1. I take that to mean there will be a second one.

Know that this is a safety recall! Meaning it is unsafe to operate vehicle in the current condition.
There are good and not so good things about a safety recall for the consumer.

Any recall (safety or emissions) never has a time or mileage limit to get repaired. A decade from now an owner can present the vehicle to an authorized dealership for this or any recall and the repairs will be preformed. (When any required parts are available)

Because the condition is a "safety" recall and not a warranty issue with a time and mileage limit, that means it has been determined it is unsafe to operate the vehicle. And the Federal Government through NHTSA requires ceratain things. One of which is to halt the sale of any unsold new vehicles by a dealership. Because it has been determined this is an unsafe condition.

In my opinion, which counts for very little, I have driven many vehicles with zero electronics and no right side rear view mirror. Driving is a little more active. Not having a working camera on any given vehicle, I would be OK. And the situation is regulated by the government and Ford has an obligation to report the condition and come up with a fix.

Yep I agree, I love backup cameras, and would probably always choose that as an option, but to have it as a safety REQUIREMENT, is insane. Like say a Miata, if you can't see what's behind you in that, you have other problems.

Since I haven't had the camera issue with my 2020 Aviator, does anyone know if the rear sensors are still operative when the blue scree comes on?

I suspect this is, or will be, an issue for those of you waiting :(
That won't be a problem for those with the 360 camera recall. It's thought that fix likely won't be implemented until September.

I was supposed to pick up my new 23 Aviator 2 weeks ago today but was told Lincoln had halted sales of all affected inventory until the 360 camera issue could be resolved. Dealer is still unable to provide any information on when that’ll happen - was wondering if anybody here has heard any news regarding where they’re at in the process?
I'm sorry to hear about the delay and lack of information regarding the 360 camera issue with your new Lincoln Aviator. Unfortunately, as an AI language model, I don't have access to real-time information or specific updates on the status of Lincoln's inventory or production processes. In situations like these, it's best to contact your Lincoln dealer directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information. They should be able to provide you with the latest updates on your workaround. Alternatively, you may consider contacting Lincoln customer service for further assistance. They may have more details or may be able to provide more information about the camera troubleshooting process. I understand that delays can be frustrating for you, but continuing to communicate with your dealer and Lincoln customer service will be your best course of action for accurate and reliable information. The most reliable information on the availability of the new Lincoln Aviator.

Off the beaten path but software related. I had to downgrade from 22251 to 22200 because my APIM was confused. Kept dumping personal profiles and radio stations every time I shut it off. Just master reset didn’t fix it. Dealer was thinking replace APIM. Did a master reset and loaded 22200 and in my opinion everything works better. I think I even have Sirius album artwork 22251 took away. Just seems more stable. I’m going to leave that build. It’s been flawless since.

There are over 20,000 vehicles currently waiting for the 360 camera fix. Apparently, the entire Chicago Speedway is filled with these vehicles. I was told it is now not a software issue but a hardware issue which will likely result in the cameras having to be replaced. ETA is September! This info was to be sent out to all dealers beginning last Tuesday.
BTW, my 2023 Aviator order on Oct. 31st, is one of them. :(
