2024 Nautilus software and battery issues

Has anyone installed a gps based car insurance monitor like "Drive & Save"? Has it caused any software issues in your 24 Nautilus?

I have USAA Safe Pilot that monitors trips, phone use for calls and handling, and harsh breaking. I see trips like Google with time and distance and get a summary after each trip of infractions. It does not appear to interact with car but based upon phone data. You get dinged for just touching like at a light to check something.

I'm about to, within the next 30 days as my policy lapses. I don't like the software apps. I hate dealing with it when we have two (or even three) insured drivers in the same car.

Thanks for the reply. My wife had one in her previous vehicle and it reacted like you described. She only has 750 miles on her Nautilus with no issues so far, but all the reported software issues on this forum prompted me to ask the question, thanks again.

Can you tell us what the benefit is for installing USAA Safe Pilot?

Going on vacation tomorrow for twelve days. Ubering to the airport. We’ll see the state of the battery when I return. I’m not using a battery tender as the battery should be able to sit for two weeks.

If you sign up you get about 10% off and up to a total of 30% depending on your score. There is a training period then like after 3 months you get the additional depending on score and you have to start another scoring period. I am in the middle of 1st scoring period so will see later what it really means.

You might want to read the fine print on the agreement.... they could be selling your telemetry data for profit, like GM is getting sued for in Texas?

BUT, don't get me wrong as I absolutely love USAA as a company, employer, business and provider. I would use them in a heartbeat if I qualified.

I'm shocked!:p

I doubt many get the maximum discount since it is too easy to get harsh braking like being cut off.

Lincoln and Google likely have similar data and sharing.

This is what USAA says but would not be surprised.

We share your driving information with our third party service providers as necessary for the administration of the USAA SafePilot program. We do not share your driving information with third parties for their own use, or to marketing companies. Review the SafePilot Privacy Policy and Program Terms and Conditions for more details on what driving information is collected by the USAA SafePilot App and how it is used.

I was reading the first infotainment CSP (24B09) dealer install instructions for what was also an OTA update.. I noticed these points.

1. Battery charge was supposed to be at least 80%. I have not seen where it is documented the car will not do an OTA update at less than 80%.

2. Battery charger negative had be connected to ground not negative post in order to prevent battery saver modes. This means when a maintainer is attached and charging, the vehicle will not go to asleep. Charger was to maintain voltage between 12.6 and 13.6 volts.

3. Dealer procedure used a 64GB memory stick - not OTA

4. Two modules were updated: Gateway and APIM

It was a complex procedure for something that could also be delivered OTA.

Latest data with all battery CSPs applied. No interaction since start of test. The closest fob is about 15 to 20 ft away through a few walls.

There is no official state of charge charts as battery mfg dependent but most agree within 10%
12.7 fully charged
12.1 50%
11.51 10%
10.50 0%

9/5 - 12.6V (within 12 hrs of being fully charged), 90% SOC
9/6 - 12.51, no interaction in last 24 hrs, 80% SOC
9/7 - 12.46, no interaction in last 24 hrs, ~75% SOC
I wish mine was that good. It sat for about 36 hours and I measured 12.2V this morning. About 800 miles on it, so I doubt this battery is going to make it. I already charged it once, but so far has always started.

Has anyone heard of a date for the 3Q OTA update?

On Facebook, people have been reporting Lincoln Concierge is still been telling people 3Q. Has anyone here talked to them but bet they will not give a firm date?

Here is an update on USAA Safe Pilot. The phone app notified me I completed the scoring period with a score of 90 out of a 100. My discount will continue to be 10% during my next 6 month period., This is no where near the 30% supposedly possible. I had no phone use dings and only a few harsh brankings (mostly getting cut off). If anyone gets a higher score/discount, I would like to compare notes.

I love USAA and have been a member since 1977. However I am skeptical that you will ever see a 30% reduction in your rate. Good luck

Not a Nautilus but in my Corsair and MKZ the Drive Safe and Save (DSS) is a stand alone button that connects to the car via Bluetooth. I've noticed no problems but have no idea how a problem would manifest.

If you think there may be a problem, would recommend describing the symptoms as that might allow someone to analyze whether could be caused by DSS.

My wife did one through an app called Great Driver or something like that. I think we got it off the app store. I was surprised she got 98, but one thing is you could go through each drive on the app, see the red spots, and correct it to 'okay' if it had the wrong speed limit, or if it thought you sped through a school zone but it was an in service day.

I scored much lower on my app because I was always the passenger and it said I used my phone too much. 🙄 I had to edit those out.

Hi gang. Just to avoid confusion about what constitutes “Accessory Mode” (actually Delayed Accessory Mode), versus when the ignition is on but engine is off.

In Lincoln vehicles, Accessory mode (or Delayed Accessory Mode) only allows the audio system and power windows (and moonroof if applicable) to be used, along with limited SYNC function.
In Lincoln vehicles, Accessory Mode/Delayed Accessory Mode is on once we turn off the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button. We can then use the audio system and power windows/moonroof for ~10 minutes, or until we open a front door (whichever comes first). Accessory Mode can also be enabled in the vehicle while the engine is off by pressing the Start/Stop button twice, with our foot off the brake.

On the other hand, ignition on mode is accessed by pressing the Start/Stop button once (foot off brake), and allows the above features, plus blower motor etc. etc, to be on. An easy way to tell the difference is the dash warning lights will be illuminated when the ignition is on (engine off), but the dash will be dark in “Accessory Mode”, except for the audio system/SYNC displays.

In addition, in Lincoln vehicles with an audio system power hard button: We can turn on the audio system for longer than 10 minutes (after engine off) by pressing the audio power button. But be patient. It can take up to 10 seconds or more for the audio system to turn back on. And if we press it a second time, it will turn off.

While most Lincoln/Ford owners will be aware of the difference between the two (actually three) modes, some first time owners may not. So better safe than sorry.
Also, the procedures may/will differ for newer models with no hard audio power buttons. So check your Owner Manuals for more specific details.

Hope this information helps and good luck.

@Starfish

Most AGM Battery charge charts list 100% around 12.7 to 13.0 V. Your charts look like how I expect a healthy battery to work. Voltages higher than 13V indicate charging. How long are your drives?

A noco charge voltage will reach 14.8 V for AGM batteries when battery is near max charge.

Someone else posted this chart but saved it since very clear.

I did not believe the 24C24 (window safety) code been released?
Recall 24C24 (window safety) was released September 9th. Just dropped my car at dealer to do that one along with 24P08 (driver monitor camera) and 24P22 (ABS). Hopefully the last 2 will help decrease the battery drain issues.
