I got digital speedometer to work. However, it is tiny. Is there a way to get large numbers. I am new to owning 2010 Town car. I love the car and want to learn everything about the car. It only has 67,000 miles.

My 2023 Aviator came with the deleted Hands Free Liftgate, and I thought I’d see if I could get it working. I noticed antennas, module, and wiring is all in place behind rear bumper. Module seems to communicate with scan tool. I noticed the module says dummy on it. 2020 to 2023 Aviators take same module, and don’t need programming. Just need LIN line activation. I figured I’d give it a shot and replace module. Replaced module and had activation performed. Still no go and tabled for now. Anybody else have this looked into? It’s a nice feature if your used to using it. Which my wife was on her previous vehicle.

I have a hard time understanding why at this point Ford is still dealing with this parts shortage. Are they using a chip/camera/part no other manufacturer uses and it is an obsolete design?

Hi icemantx. All auto manufacturers are having the same/similar issues with various parts/commodities. However, most of us do not hear about the problems of other manufacturers because we own or are looking to purchase a Lincoln, and are therefore on a Lincoln Owners website.

Try to factory order a vehicle from another manufacturer, and spend time on their enthusiast websites, and you will find the same parts/commodity shortage issues.

Good luck.

I tried just replacing the dummy module behind the rear bumper and configuring it. That didn’t work by itself. I finally had time to follow the Explorer ST forum forscan instructions and now my hands free lift works on my 2023 Aviator. A replacement Aviator module and Explorer ST forum forscan instructions should get this deleted feature back.IMG_0250.webpIMG_0248.webpIMG_0249.webp

Hello. I just got my 2023 Black Label Grand Touring hands-free liftgate to work. I bought a used Ford module, but it didn't work. I then ordered a 2023 Aviator module from Levittown Ford and it works very well. Of course, you need forscan to finish the job.

How about an after-delivery option take back/credit issue?
My favorite is the Cadillac (CT-6 I believe) heated windshield washer fluid feature. It was prone to failure, (electrical shorting issues). It was subject to a safety recall, and GM issued a TSB on removing the heater function. Customers were given a $100 credit, and the feature was disabled as customers came in for the campaign & malfunction issues.
More than a few manufactures of luxury vehicles offer this option, with no issues. Cadillac chose to disable rather than fix the issue. It was cheaper for them in the long run no doubt!
So much for the "Standard of the World"

I see a few folks are familiar with using FORScan Diagnostics & Programming on their vehicles. I just downloaded the latest version from FORScan.org and bought a 1 year subscription licence for $12.00. Seems like the OEM Ford version of IDS will set you back about $400 or more, depending on who you purchase from, for a 1 year licence. If you have used FORscan, was it on a Lincoln or Ford vehicle? Did you do any re-programming with it? What interface brand & type are you using, Bluetooth or USB cable? I put this post in the Nautilus Forum, since that is the vehicle I have, but of course this works across all Lincoln lines. I could not find a dedicated forum within this site to post it so all Lincoln owners could see it across the Lincoln Lineup!

My most sincere and humble apologies!
I totally missed your May posting inquiring how I made out.
I just now saw your above posting, and I feel terrible about leaving you hanging. My bad.....!
As a supporting member of the forum, I recognize its importance to all Lincoln owners that use it.
Members like yourself that have much to contribute, and share their knowledge are why this forum is meaningful & important.
I agree, acknowledgement is a courtesy that should be given when a fellow member helps you out!
Again, please accept my apologies for not responding. No excuse, I should have responded even before your May inquiry.

That being said, I have not tried to perform the mod yet. I need to update my ForScan version for starters.
Since you originally posted the details, the other vehicles I tend to have needed ongoing attention to get them up to snuff to pass NYS emissions.
Other than an OFC change, a few washes and a wax job, I have not paid any mind to the Nautilus.
I hope I can count on you to "guide me through" should I need advice when ready to try one of the mods!

In closing, I hope you can forgive my oversight. If ever you are in the NYC/Metro area in your travels, let me know, beer on me! I sincerely mean that!

I’m in talks to purchase a 2024 Aviator Black Label. I took it on a long test drive to make sure everything was working the way it should. Pretty slick vehicle and drives very nice. It looks to be very well cared for. Has a little over 24k on it. I’d like to know what problems or quirks this vehicle has that any of you who own one may have encountered.

I have a 22. Been great for 65,000 miles save a few recalls that were handled during a normal maintenance visit. Only warranty claim was a leaky pinion gear seal that was replaced at 50 some thousand miles. AI can get you some quick feedback on a 24. Here is one example.

I appreciate the reply. I've googled this model year and didn't find much aside from recalls. I just wanted to hear some real world experiences with the vehicle. I'm picking it up Monday. The dealership finally caved & is giving me the extra $1k for my trade that I asked for the day I test drove it. I wish they would've caved that day, but I wasn't sticking around. Now, I have to ride back down to Oregon to get it. 🙄🤦🏻 My poor back is barely recovered from this last weekend. 😩

Well, on the flip side, the ride back should be a lot better for your back in the Aviator. We got a 2022 Black Label Aviator specifically because of my bad back and spinal condition. It has helped so much compared to my previous two vehicles. Hopefully it will be helpful for you as well.

Indeed it was! I decided to ride down the night before I was supposed to pick up the Aviator. I didn’t want to spend $160 on a room for barely 12hrs but I figured it was the best idea. The weather ended up having rain in the early morning so I avoided all that as well as Seattle traffic etc. I don’t trust most people in cars when the weather is nice and clear let alone when it’s raining. This whole decision was last minute. I was at work Sunday night and it poppped into my head and I pulled the trigger and bought the hotel room for the night. Got off work, drove home, grabbed my work clothes for Monday and my toiletries and threw them in a trash bag and loaded up the bike and made my journey. The ride back was probably the most comfortable I’ve ever had in a vehicle. With my back issues that lower back massage and butt massage the whole way was amazing! My 18 F-150 had massaging seats but they automatically shut off after 15 or 20 mins. Full 3.5 hr drive they were on. I was still learning about all the buttons and screens etc. I think I’ve found everything but supposedly there’s a HUD on this vehicle but I swear I didn’t see anything about it in the center screen settings. I’ll have to look again. So far I LOVE the Aviator. This thing is plush and rides smooth and has power when you need it. Might get rid of my other car. Not sure yet.

Ford Motor Company made a $3 Billion dollar investment in a Marshall Michigan (pop just under 7000) plant (Near Battle Creek MI) to build batteries for electric cars.
While at the same time closing the $5.8 billion Blue Oval SK battery plant in Glendale, Kentucky. 1600 workers were laid off. (population 1900)
The Kentucky plant was to supply batteries for the F150 Lightening to be built in the Blue Oval City plant in Heywood County, Tennessee.

HOWEVER - the Federal Government stopped issuing incentives! The elimination of the $7,500 credit for new EVs and the $4,000 credit for used EVs, which ended September 30, 2025, significantly reduced EV demand and disrupted Ford’s long-term EV battery strategies.
Without incentives, a battery powered vehicle is more expensive than gasoline powered. The mass market moves based on dollars. With the wealthier buyer choosing battery power at times because they can.

The solution for Ford was to pivot! The Tennessee plant will produce gas powered trucks for model year 2029

Meanwhile, Lucid Motors just announced the layoff of 1500 workers or 18% of the work force in the Casa Grande, Arizona assembly plant. (Pop of Casa Grande is 69,000)

When the Government steps in to the business arena, more times than not it is a failure. The state of CA has a mandate for 2035 for 100% of new vehicles sold to have zero emissions. (ZEV) ZEV regulations are technology-forcing policies, incentivizing automakers to develop vehicles with longer electric ranges and lower emissions This is actually a tiered thing making it's way to 100% by model year 2035. Plus as always there are loop holes and exceptions. Which is a reason Ford split the company into two pieces several years ago. There is Ford Motor Company and Blue Oval. Blue Oval builds vehicles with electric power in some variation. My question in all of this legislation is what are the results?? Will we really get that much more significant cleaner air in the US?

Ford is sitting on $23 Billion in cash and cash equivalent accounts. (Which is slightly more than GM has) From the outside one might suggest, expand the North American market to other models that were built in the past. The problem is the Government. With a mandate to build a different power train in a short period of time, this becomes very expensive. Ford dropped $5.8 billion in Kentucky and ended up with nothing. When the Federal Government ended incentives in 2025, that market segment radically changed. Or fell off a cliff.

The current administration has paved the way for lower cost gasoline vehicles to be built. The unknown is what happens after 2028.
It is rather easy to write legislation. Execution become where the rubber meets the road.
And whatever happens, it is you and me that ultimately pays the bill. EVEN if you never buy a new vehicle again, the market changes radically when Uncle Sam steps into the marketplace. It might leave you breathless.

I thought things were looking really good for hybrids until we stopped pursuing them. The midsize MKZ was up to almost 50 miles per gallon - wasn't it? That was a pretty comfortable and luxurious car. If we didn't stop, where might we be now? I bet it wouldn't have been all that long before we saw full-size luxury cars getting 100mph with hybrid setups... That would have been fascinating - and the automotive industry wouldn't have had to be turned upside-down.
Action
Follow the money -

Hybrids and electric cars slowed because the US Government incentives ended.
This type of powertrain is more expensive than a gasoline powered car.
For the more wealthy buyer this is not much of a consideration. For others or buyers seeking a lower cost of mode of transportation, they are buying based on price not power train choices.

Remove the Government assistance and many buyers buy something else.
And the Government assistance is NOT sustainable.

Since we are going off topic and I am employed in the mortgage banking world ..............

The current housing situation is the way it is because of multiple factors.
1) The Dodd- Frank law that was passed after the financial crisis of 2008 greatly restricted home buyers that are buying a primary residence.
Current home ownership is 65% versus 70% back then. Know that each 1% = 1.3 million homes. Meaning there are more than 6.5 million less home owners now. Because of this there are a lot of renters. And the landlords seeing opportunity and have less restriction on buying/financing, buy more homes to rent. Plus, apartment complexes have been on a 3 to 6 year building spree as of late. Again to meet the renter demand.
2) Supply and demand. The supply was significantly reduced in the housing downturn. Millions of homes nationwide were leveled during and after the Real Estate downturn occurred. Demand came back especially with the great money dump from the Biden admin. However that created higher costs because there was so much more money chasing fewer goods. ((Production/supply had stopped during COVID) That money is nearly gone and we have the inflation hang over of wanting goods without that COVID money. The price of goods has not and likely will not come down to pre-COVID levels. (Inflation)
3) The home affordability is easing just a touch in 2026. However it isn't a thing that resolves itself swiftly. Income is creeping higher and the overall price of housing has been stagnant this year.
4) Because of limits in the Dodd-Frank laws, Real Estate lenders will have a difficult time defaulting or needing a bail out. That could happen but lenders are severely restricted from taking risks. Banks of all types have to have a far greater liquid asset reserve. This has downsides that the consumer pays.

As far as the Automotive industry, there are some limits to automobile financing as well because of Dodd-Frank. This industry moves a lot faster than Real Estate. In addition, auto makers have to invest billions to generate a product before a sale is made. Real Estate Developers/Home builders only have to buy land. Usually with cash. The material can be purchased later when a home sale is made. Making the return on money different in the two industries.
This is why Ford is sitting on $23 Billion dollars in cash and cash equivalents! And it is invested on a strategy of building vehicles that the market clearly wants. (a lot less riskier) GM has $27 Billion nest egg of cash and cash assets as a comparison.

Auto bail outs are not something that is going to happen any time soon, unless the marketplace changes faster than normal. Change always happens in the marketplace. But change in a compressed amount of time in the marketplace is the pit fall that can bring down any company. Government can have a big (unfair) hand at making change occur in a short period of time. Which costs a lot of money.

So, we get back to Lucid. A very small company building a limited product that was propped up by the US Federal Government. The prop was kicked away and the company is sliding. NO matter how great their product may be, Lucid needs the Government to throw money at the industry niche.
But the Federal Government has an unfair marketplace presence. They can wield both the carrot and the stick.
Pass laws that restrict
Throw money at the situation
Both interfere with the marketplace, such that the marketplace behaves differently.

In my opinion, because there is that kind of interference, Ford is and has not taken very many market risks since 2010.

Up until 60k I had free oil changes, the dealer did it. Once that was up I’m doing it myself. I looked at the filler cap and it says 5W-20. So that’s what I put in. Somewhere along the line I found out the manual says 5W-30 ! In a search of the internet it said that it was common for Lincoln to have the wrong/misprinted weight on the filler cap ! Now I did do two oil changes already with 5W-20 4k in between each. I know two oil changes with 4k in between won’t kill the engine but long term if I didn’t find this out it could cause excessive wear internally. But I wanted to post this in case anyone else runs across the same thing. Why wasn’t there a recall for this ?

5W-30 for normal use, the owners manual also says 0W-30 for extreme cold climates. Personally, I would not use a 0 weight unless absolutely necessary as you read about many oil burners across every brand of car after use of 0 weights.

Hello! Anyone out there? I haven't come across any questions being answered by Ford tech, designers, or engineers.
I have questions about this crazy radio on my 26 Corsair Premiere 1. Like, how the heck do I get rid of this nav window? All I want to see is a plain radio with stations- THAT'S IT! Very odd maneuvering the menu system on this car. Just awful. I doubt I'll get an answer.
On another thought, I can change the driver display to show a tachometer and speed, a quiet screen with no tach (good cause who needs a tach anyway), mph, and each could become the default screen if I want it when starting, but this crazy nav window- the full screen or the small window is really where Ford dropped the ball on this. Hate it hate it. Hate it. Why not just default to a radio with presets? Be done with it? I will put the nav screen on if I need to ---- jeeze o pete I mean really???.

2 Have you read the owner’s manual?

My 2020 is having warranty service this week. The sunshade under the roof broke, the liftgate mechanism makes noise that it shouldn't, and the AC outlet on the back of the console won't hold a plug in. Combine that with past work on a leaky oil pan and more, and I've been thinking that I shouldn't keep it past the end of the warranty next spring. There are just too many expensive repairs lurking in this vehicle. It goes against my family history of driving vehicles till they don't run any more.

They initially gave me a 2026 Reserve Hybrid as a loaner, with the 99-way seats and other foolishness. They took it back in order to sell it. Now I have a 2026 2.0L gas Premiere WITH NO SUNROOF which I didn't know was even possible. It seems to be a base model - I haven't looked in detail but there's no foot-operated liftgate, for example. The sound system is basic. It has Blue Cruise. 1500 miles on it. I need to get the sticker to see exactly what it has. I put the VIN into a decoder site which claims it has a 2.7 but I'm quite sure it's a 2.0. Unless the 2.7 is much much smaller than it was in 2020.

Should I be entertaining thoughts of trading in my 2020 on the 2026 Premiere? I am trying to ignore the China factor for now.

Many dealers these days have the window stickers available on their sites, which list the VIN (since you know hat the VIN is on your loaner). Go to their site, select that you want to buy an in stock 2026 Premiere, and you'll likely find it pretty quickly. (You'll typically see a photo of it, so just look at the ones with the same color as you have).

The engine will be a turbo 2.0 liter. The hybrid variant has more torque/HP than the non-hybrid, though many people are happy with the non-hybrid (and those of us with the hybrids like them, a nice combination of power and MPG).

Premiere is the only tier with a no-sunroof version, and has smaller rims - either 19" or 20" vs. Reserve being 21" or 22" (the actual diameter of the wheels with tires mounted, is the same for all 4 rim sizes). The wife and I would both have been happy w/out sunroof, and with the smaller rim sizes, but found the seats in our Reserve II noticeably more comfortable.

The Premiere I have now has 255/55 R20, 2.0L gas as I said. I looked at the dealer stock online - they don't have any 2.7L's. Is it not offered any more?

I had a 2.0L Ecoboost in a 2014 Escape previously (I know it was at least two generations ago for that engine). It was plenty of power for the Escape, and it can probably move the Nautilus well enough for the way I drive. I notice if I put it in "Conserve" mode, it really struggles off the line.

This vehicle, and all the dealer stock I looked at, have black interior. Whoops. That is a non-starter in AZ, no black interior for me.

the 2.7L is not available in the 24+ nautilus.
The hybrid is the higher performance option instead and makes 310hp up till 2026 where it now makes 285 due to a gas particulate filter.

Recent trip with hybrid, conserve mode, premium gas, interstates speeds (65 to 74) most of the trip I-59, I-20. I-77. I-I 85. Loaded with cargo. I only need to make one gas stop due to 20 gal tank but I top off when gas is cheaper (Alabama and SC).

Mileage: 712.4 mi
MPG: 33.3
Time: 11:16
Electric Miles: 125.1

I noticed that when I have full tank of gas mpg runs a little lower and drops once you get near 74 to 75 mpg due to drag,

Beats our old 09 MKZ that got a lot less.

I am sure if one does the math the gas engine with regular may be overall cheaper due to bump for hybrid cost (in 24 it was just $1500) but I feel good.

But then you would lose around 20hp. The hybrid makes peak HP at only 5500 rpm so its a lot more likely it will reduce boost or retard timing with regular vs premium. Engine RPM/load is somewhat independent of accelerator demand so even if you aren't romping on it you may notice a loss in power running lower octane. For me its easily worth the price for premium to get the most effortless feel from the car. If saving money was the goal I definitely would not have opted for a Lincoln over a Ford. I believe the cost difference between regular and premium calculated to around $400 per year with 12k miles per year driving. Most people spend more on coffee.

Yep. I went into a convenience store after filling up with gas (premium). I purchased a 20 oz bottle of Dr Pepper (Blackberry flavor) and remarked to the clerk it was the same price as a gallon of gas.

With the price of eating out these days, gas prices are not that high relative to other costs. I do not see how customers of Starbucks can complain about high prices for anything.
