Have you experienced a dead or dying battery?

Dan-NJ, Thanks for the update! Glad to see you got some resolution!

Waited a while before putting my vote in.
Hybrid '24 RII bought in south TX first week of July. Went up to 7 days at a time without starting.
Drove out 1600+ miles to Salt Lake City end of September and worked there for 2 months. Drove back right before thanksgiving and now over 5k miles. No issues.

I thought I had found information that stated the 2024 Nautilus Hybrid used the high voltage battery to charge the 12v battery. Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? If you have a link to this information I would appreciate it to learn more. Thanks,

Sorry, I don't have any documentation so share....but.... I was sitting in the parking lot yesterday and noticed that while our Hybrid was "Ready" / running without the ICE, I opened the BM300 Pro app on my iPhone and the 12V battery showed "Charging" and both the SOC and Volt levels were increasing slowly! So, it appears to me that the system is charing the 12V battery using power from the Hybrid battery. Again, my observations only and hopefully this is also documented somewhere in a Nautilus manual.

Hope this helps Cypressmyrtle :)

The high voltage battery also starts the ICE via one of the transaxle motor generators

Yes, that is one duty the 12V battery does not have compared to the gas only model. I like the fact the hybrid is instant on and ready to go. I have read that the charging system in some hybrids is nothing more than trickle charger but have not seen anything confirm sophistication. The other question is the charging rate adjustable by drive mode such as does conserve reduce charging rate?

Thanks, I wish I could find where I read this information.

In the last 3 days my 2024 Nautilus Hybrid JUST started going into sleep mode for no apparent reason. Cant remote start. Infotainment takes about 1 minute to boot up.
Now here is the question.
Given the time of year this couldnt happen at a worse time. I am supposed to go to the Mountain for 5 days. Its about a 5 hour drive.
Is there a material risk that the car will go kerflooy? I really want to wait till after Chridtmas to take the car in.

Personally I would get my dealer to check that battery before taking it on that trip.

I agree about taking it in, but at a minimum, have a good multi-cycle jumper.

FWIW, our dealer called us yesterday to come in for 2 open recalls. I asked if they are related to battery drain and they said yes. We’re taking it in next week for that and the window software update, so that’s 3. Also getting an oil change while we’re there. Even though it’s still 34% they said it’s good enough to be covered under our extended service contract. So the visit should cost nothing.

Funny thing about that… It's our first hybrid, and the first morning after taking it home my wife and son were taking it out. She comes in and says she's tried to start the the car a half-dozen times and nothing happens (except the easy-entry was sliding her back and forth). "Are you pressing the brake?" "Of course!", she says like I'm trying to embarrass her. We go out there, she's shows me. "See? Nothing." "Ummm, you know this is a hybrid, right?" After that, we discover the READY light and she's on her way.

I suggest the professional jump pack the tow company showed up with the first time. The JNC660.

2024 Nautilus RIII, gas - received finally may 2024, ordered sep 2023. Things have been pretty great until yesterday. Went out to go to appointment and car was dead, like a paperweight. Received notice on app that car went into "deep sleep" and for me to drive it around some??? Well, couldn't even get into the car. Manually entered, nothing happened for start. Called for a jump, it wouldn't take the jump. Dead as a rock. Looked up Deep Sleep and said car automatically goes into deep sleep if not driven for 14 consecutive days? Just returned from a 5 day drip to Hilton Head/Bluffton and other areas -- didn't really notice any issues. Parked car, came out next day, paperweight! Dealer said not sure. I put a battery charger on it and it was drained (?), but charging it kept faulting. I then received an email from Lincoln stating that Android Auto update affected cars and again for me to start it up and drive it around -- are they crazy? Could be coincidental about the android auto thing BUT clearly something is draining the battery, for us it appears out of the blue! Are initial batteries on Nautilus faulty possibly due to long transport? I couldn't find the battery recall that the early poster mentioned, only the recall for window. The paperweight is being towed to dealer. We are heading for long car trip in 10 days...this car scares me now. Thinking if they replace battery maybe do trickle charge nightly to top it off to help avoid travel issues? Obviously open to ideas.

AGM batteries are compromised when shut down in a partial state of charge. Sulfation creeps in in at this point. The best care for longevity is to have the battery at full state of charge at rest after a cycle.
To answer your question, yes....the long transport time and short cycling times of the battery during transport does not allow the battery to reach full state of charge, so sulfation starts to set in.
A smart charger will indeed help keep the battery up to snuff between cycles!
I always charge up a new battery before applying its first load (cycle) on it to get as close to full state of charge as possible. New batteries sitting on the shelf will partly discharge over time even with no load applied. I always bring a voltmeter & select the highest voltage reading battery with the most recent manufacture date code.
The only AGM battery currently in my household is in my 2023 Nautilus. I use a NOCO Dual bank charger (2x2) to keep all my vehicle batteries up to snuff. Charging Bank #1 I have set to AGM for my Nautilus, and I set Bank 2 for all my other conventional Lead Acid battery vehicles.

So are you thinking that normal transpac shipping can be fatal to our batteries? How do the Japanese and Koreans do it?

My Genesis GV70 had the battery replaced after 8 months. It developed high internal resistance. That's how the Koreans do it, I guess.
