Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Nautilus

2023 Nautilus: The 2023 Lincoln Nautilus has 42.8 inches of front legroom and 39.6 inches of rear legroom.
2023 Edge: The 2023 Ford Edge has 42.6 inches of front legroom and 40.6 inches of rear legroom.

2024 Nautilus: The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus has 43.5 inches of front-seat legroom and 43.1 inches of rear-seat legroom
2024 Edge: The 2024 Ford Edge has 42.6 inches of front legroom and 40.6 inches of rear legroom. (same as '23)

It looks like the '23 Nautilus had slightly larger front legroom, 1" less rear, than the Edge.

For '24 Nautilus bumped things up, 0.7" more front and 2.5" more rear than the '23 Nautilus

I'm a human being and not a tape measure. I'm 6'-3" 275lbs and the Nautilus doesn't have the legroom that a base Edge has. Glad to hear the new Nautilus is better sized.

I'm 6'2" 250lbs and I found the 24 nautilus has more legroom than my 2019 edge ST had in the front. Its not a TON more room but its noticeable. It has significantly more room in the 2nd row and a tiny bit less space behind the 2nd row. It also has more ship/shoulder room everywhere.
the 23 nautilus should have marginally less room than the 2nd gen edge due to the interior changes over the Ford brand.

Have a f'ing trailer hitch that you can cover with your rear molding. My 2016 had yjis (I didnt even know I had a trailer hitch till 2021).
Beyond rididiculous on a car of this quality they have to butcher the rear molding permanently to put in a trailer hitch.
Like, who in gods name thought that is a good idea

Lincoln executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Lincoln executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a Nautilus driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Lincoln Nautilus.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.
It would make a world of a difference to me if they integrated Waze and made it a part of the system. Meaning that you don't have to use Android Auto. But that it's IN the system and displays seamlessly in the 48inch screen. Otherwise it's a waste. Android Auto does NOT work well with the Nautilus. Apparently I hear Apple play does. But if they would make Waze a part of the system would make a huge difference!
Also, why don't they offer any kind of brown, or maroon leather in anything other than the Black label? That also isna problem.

I was so excited to get the Nautilus but having so many problems with it ... mostly electric having to do with the system ....it's just not up to par with other high end vehicles. Shame. They had a good thing but fell short.

Odd. I love mine. Its been flawless

I only agree about Waze, need it integrated with the 48" screen. Everything else has been great with my '24.

I have a Black Label. The decontenting of the front and rear camera washers really chafes my butt.

Another thing I would like is for the front camera to turn on earlier in a parking situation. When I had my Audi q5 it turned on much earlier when it expected you were parking in comparison to the Nautilus only turning on the front camera if you’re already close to hitting something.

I would prefer the Drive Mode console button to cycle through modes rather than redirecting your eyes to the center display. It is glitchy and non intuitive currently.

A physical Hot Key for frequently requested actions that are 3 or 4 steps into the software would be appreciated. something like the Max Defrost on console.

Both of these items are a safety issue for me.
I find it quite disappointing that I purchased an expensive luxury brand like Lincoln…and I am not able to use Waze on the large 48” screen. I mean…I have car that can drive itself…which requires you to keep your head upright…but if I’m using Waze I’m forced to look down at the lower center screen. Isn’t the 48” screen supposed to basically be like a head up display? Isn’t looking at the map on the 48” screen supposed to be the safest way to use the blue cruise option? Then why am I not allowed to use the map of my choice…like Waze? Isn’t Waze owned by google any way? Sorry…but Google just doesn’t offer the same options as Waze!

Please fix this issue…asap! This is really annoying.

I don't think that this will ever happen. Waze is meant to be an interactive app and putting it on the 48" display would not allow it to function as intended.

Hinckley is correct -- the 48" panorama is not a touch screen, so it would not be possible to interact with the Waze display to report and confirm incidents. All the Waze interactions can only be done on the 11" touch screen. Think of the upper panorama as sort of a Heads-Up Display.
However, with one of the software updates, a mini-Waze info box with the next turn info now appears on the panorama screen. No map, just the next turn info like the exit number and lane info. Not much info but better than the previously blank area on the panorama with Waze.
For me, when I need navigation, I use Google maps. Once the route is calculated and the map is displayed on the upper screen with the navigation and turn information (and after the software update now also includes time and mileage to your destination), then open the native Waze app from the Play store on the 11" touchscreen. Then I can hear the Waze alerts and report my own alerts, all the while having the Google map and turn info on the upper screen. In other words, the best of both.
If you try to use Waze for navigating to a destination, then the upper screen displays the small info box (after the update). Someone remarked that Waze should be a native app. I think all the apps available in the system's Play store are considered native as they are not running off of an Android or Apple phone but part of the native Lincoln Digital Experience.

I have a few more complaints:
1) For some idiotic reason, after a day or so I cant edit a previous post
2) for some idiotic reason, I turn off my ad blocker for this site so I can conduct searches. But only about 25% of the time does the search icon show up to enable me to do searches
3) this is my real beef. I am so pissed off about this. So I wanted to get new wheels & tires for the winter. It so happens that f'ing Lincoln mis spec'd their offset on their wheels that these wheel sites relied on. Lincoln said it was a 40 offset or something when its really 60. 60 wheel offsets for all intents and purposes don't exist (trust me they don't) so the only option is to get OEM wheels. Well even if I go down to 18', 19' or 20' OEM Wheels (my Tires/wheels are 255/45/22 as I have the '24 Nautilus Reserve Jet Appearance, the OEM wheels are $1500-$1600 Cdn +++.. Like f' that. Like why would Lincoln make a car with a wheel offset that makes it impossible to get other wheels. Ridiculous. And then the kicker is, to just get winter tires in that size is virtually impossible. Like Im told I will be waiting until the end of January. And I have searched & searched. Beyond ridiculous. I just dont get it. If I would have know about this fiasco ahead of time Im not sure I would have got the car.
Btw, I love the car. The only additional thing that is aggravating is the 3 buttons up top for garage door et all should be lit.

Hi FrankFencepost. Only concerning the wheel offset issue: We don’t necessarily have to stick with the OEM offset. Wheel width and offset can be juggled to give the necessary clearance on the suspension/brake caliper side, and still have a nice aesthetic look on the fender side, so that the wheels/tires fill out the wheel well without rubbing the fenders.
There is usually room to play with offset, since most people go to a narrower winter tire than the OEM all-seasons. Therefore, in many cases that makes it possible to also change to a narrower winter wheel with a different offset than the OEM wheels.

There are online wheel offset calculators which allow us to play with offset and wheel width in order to compare an aftermarket setup to the OEM setup.

Here is one: https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Whe...QZ861QHV5d1VTFSVhziMvaLc4fQ1bn7NWai60YY6GDSfV

Others can be found by Googling “Wheel offset calculators” and similar terms.

It can seem complicated at first, but is actually quite simple to understand once the wheel width/wheel offset relationship clicks. All we need to know is the factory wheel width/offset, and the aftermarket wheel width/offset.

Hope this information helps and good luck. 🍻

I really really appreciate that. Ive seen that calculation thingy but I'm not confident enough to use it.
Why wouldn't the dealership or the tire place use their expertise to give me different wheel options given the offset issue. That makes no sense.
My concern is that if I online order these wheels and they dont fit, its not like amazon in sending them back

HiFrankFencepost. I understand your frustration.
So…Just dealing with the question of “…why didn’t the dealership…give me different wheel options given the offset issue.”?

Due to various reasons (warranty, liability and otherwise), many/most Dealerships are not going to venture into offering anything other than factory/OEM wheel options, unless they are extremely enthusiast/aftermarket friendly.

Similar story with “tire places”. Many are knowledgeable and interested in selling tires only. They may have wheel offerings, but it’s not necessarily an area of expertise. Others shops are more enthusiast oriented and will have a good wheel knowledge base.

On that note, have you tried “The Tire Rack” (I can’t recall and am too lazy to read back at the moment). They have a wide winter tire/wheel package database. And if something they sell you does not fit correctly, you would not have that Amazon/eBay return issue. Same story with “Discount Tire”.
And you can also try “Detroit Wheel and Tire” for lower prices on factory/OEM takeoffs and refurbished/repaired wheels.

Anyway, just a few things to ponder.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Waze is part of the system. I can use Waze and I do not have CarPlay set up. Only Bluetooth to my iPhone. Go in to the Play Store and download Waze. Also downloaded Spotify and use it from direct download into the car. I’ve used CarPlay for years and find it is not necessary in Google vehicles. I no longer use CarPlay in my GMC Denali Ultimate any more either.

After 7000 miles, I consider the primary weakness is the center display and having all AC controls soft touch. I always have issues activating a touch. The nested menus can take multiple touch. There should be some "recent used" (for non-AC) to allow shortcuts for tasks like center display brightness offset. The scrolling aspect of menus is not good for drivers.
