Corsair lead time

What is your recent experience ordering your new car.
Ordered my Lincoln corsair gt at the dealership March 15. Received a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of my order from Lincoln on March 21

NOT a thing more, it is 4 1/2 months. So so disturbing. Running low on patience 🥺

Hi G-22. Have you called and spoke to your Salesperson or the Sales Manager? Or preferably stopped by and spoke to them face to face?

That is what I would recommend. Do not text or email. Stop by, or call if you can not stop by.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I agree, though I would add that with our dealership, email works just fine. It's a case of mileage may vary, of course. Certainly an onsite visit or phone call are both better than email.

So my GT (with lots of options) was ordered 2/22. We were notified it would be built week of 8/29. That has now been changed to the week of 9/5. We are trying to stay confident it will actually get built.

In terms of dealer communications mine stopped responding to calls and email after my second enquiry about the end of May. And the concierge couldn't tell me anything because they wanted a VIN number. I am hoping the dealer will do better with service once we get this vehicle.

The good news is the sales dept. and the service dept. are totally separate, with different managers.

I so know that you all want your Corsair. I get it, but dang, why do we keep getting repeat questions about timing? There is nothing ANYONE can do about it. I know, its crazy. I know its stressful. I hope its not the ONLY family car and no other options exist. Several of the '22 orders may get upgraded to '23. outside of calling the Concierge and checking the site, I'm not sure there is anything else to do that will help the truck get built.

Yes it is stressful and I posted my build date info to let others with orders pending know they are still scheduling 2022 GT's for production. I could get no info from the dealer or the concierge. This forum was the only place that I could find reassurance that they were SLOWLY working through a backlog of orders.

I totally get it. I do

Yeah, I would stop in face to face to get an update. There are internal systems where the dealer can see what is going on and what priority the car is at. My Lincoln sales guy was new (less than 1 year hired) and he knew nothing. So, I called my Ford sales rep that I have known for 20 years. He said he would check and get back to me. He then called the Lincoln rep and taught him how to use a Ford internal system to see everything related to the car. The dealer had not trained the Lincoln rep at all. Yikes. So, it really helps to get to know the dealer so they know you. Just sending emails is not really that great. Show up and stop in. Yeah, takes time but it might yield better results/more information eventually.
Just my two cents.

If it helps feel better, GM is in worse shape. My husband ordered a Cadillac CT5 3 months ago. We have a VIN and the car has been made but shows up sitting on a lot in Michigan waiting for 2 separate chips. They won't ship it until they have the chips. The 23 CT5s are now being produced and he asked if it would be better to order a 23 but GM came back and said their 23's are going to lots as well. They expect this chip and parts shortage to last into 2024 at least. Why are they even making cars if they can't get parts to complete them? It makes no sense. Now they will have to discount the 22s once they complete all these cars. The dealer said GM has over 100,000 cars waiting for chips. Insane to keep making them if the parts are not available. So, it's not just Ford. I heard that Toyota is completely out of cars in inventory as they are not making them until they get the chips. Toyota said that if you order a car, it will be a year wait these days. I heard Honda also is in a drastic sales decline because they can't get the chips/parts. Blamed it on COVID closures of plants in China as the cause. We rely on China way too much. I knew back in the Reagan years when the laws were changed that incentivized plants to move overseas. Corporations followed the cheap labor and now we rely on China for manufacturing things we buy. Well now we are paying the pice of relying on another country for critical supplies. It would take many years to bring all those plants back to US soil again. Not sure corporations will make that investment but they are are aware of the consequences now. Terrible decision making to chase cheap labor around the globe but then pay the price when it all fails as we see now.

I placed my order for the GT on April 4, 2022, and received a build date of August 15, 2022, which is next week.
I did send an E-Mail to the dealer today asking to confirm if the build is still on schedule and if not, will it be built by the end of month.

I did ask if the GT is not going to be built by the end of the month (Aug 22), can I cancel and place the order for a 2023 GT in September. Waiting for a response.

I also see several members on here have a build date of next week, Aug 15. Hope they do a mass production so we can have by the end of the month otherwise will other wait for the 2023 GT as well.

One of the mysteries of life.....I ordered a loaded GT way before you, Feb 22, 2022 and I have a build date of Sept 19, 2022. Maybe there's something in mine that is missing from production, resulting in a later build date?? Anyway, I suspect that date will change as we get closer so depending on when its truly going to be built I may bite the bullet and reorder a 2023. It's a wait-and-see game now.

When my date was coming up I kept checking the tracking website using the VIN and finally I saw it was in production. A day later I got an email telling me the same. It took about one week in production and then it was in transport mode. I called my Ford dealer (not the Lincoln newbie sees rep) who I have bought Ford cars/trucks from and he has access to an internal system. He called the next day and said it was on a train car heading to southern Virginia and was supposed to arrive there the next day. We then checked that day and found out it was on a truck to the dealer. Sure enough at noon time, my Lincoln rep called to say the car arrived and would be cleaned up. Got there at 3:30 and was home by 5 with the gorgeous GT. It was an awesome experience with no game playing. The rep can track it but if they are new they may not know what system to use. If you get the run around, send me animal and I will find out what the Ford system name that they use internally.

Mine is fully loaded as well, again don’t understand why mine in scheduled for Aug 25, and yours for September 19.

Again, It's one of the great mysteries of life...🤔

Its all a proprietary process however, it likely comes down to three things. Priority level, commodity availability, that person’s dealership’s actual allocation.

Another week; another message. But this time the projection has improved, to mid- instead of late- July. Literally incredible.
So far, I'm loving the Alfa I bought as a stopgap. The Corsair, if it ever appears, may be available to someone else...
My dealer called yesterday. The car I ordered in January has finally arrived (with the "hands-free liftgate" deleted - chip problems?).

If anyone wants a fully loaded GT in metallic bronze smoke, check with Ted Russell Lincoln in Knoxville, TN. My Alfa loves the Tail of the Dragon...(and it has a hands-free power liftgate).

What a shame! You wait 8 months for your car, then it still comes with features deleted!

My dealer did tell me a few vehicles are being delivered without features that customers ordered, all due to chip shortages. He's had several Navigators delivered without the "hands-free lift gate" as well as heated steering wheels or seats. Said Lincoln credited the customer rather than add it later. He said a few took it with the deletions but most canceled acceptance. The dealer also said once the customer declined accepting them they were sold that same day. The auto industry has certainly been turned on its head.

My dealer told me allocations of vehicles and priority go to the largest volumn dealers and dealers that invest in the business like mine building a new $1m Lincoln service center to compete with the Cadillac dealer down the street. They look at investment and volumn and reward accordingly.
