What did you do to your Town Car today ?

It's not been a month; not quite a couple weeks, actually. Did you get that Maestro wired in? I know the Maestro units are supposedly for 2006 and later, so I'm curious if you got it to work in the 2004 model. If you got it to work, it gives me justification for buying a Ford harness to attempt using my prior Maestro RR. 🤣

I've presently got my '98 Town Car apart, doing audio upgrades, as well.
The unit I have is not marketed as a Maestro, but perhaps it is in that line somehow. Its a Crux SWRFD-60L Wiring Interface.

I have not put it in yet, but I am about to, I just spent the first 4 days of this week replacing the 2 mode actuators that require a complete dash removal for access. (my writeup on that will follow)

I'm using the same Crux, and it works beautifully for me. Was just plug-and-go, the only programming required involved setting the first four DIP switches to "Ford" and then setting the last four to match my head unit! Hope it goes as well for you as it did for me.

Update on this, I finished the install and the Crux does work, I retained steering controls. I will not be able to get my writeup done for a bit, next two weeks are busy, but everything did work (except the mic, not sure about that yet)

Car wash in the evening after driving to Cape Canaveral and back today.

Fixed the AC this weekend. Condenser and compressor too but this evap core was the leak site. Not too bad - just took my slow self a few days. Charged and cold now.

I polished up the headlights on my 03. They weren't very bad but then I did my wife's 12 Xb and they were horrible. Point here is that I have tried many different types of headlight restoration kits over the years, and cause the Townie wasn't bad I just grabbed this Megular bottle of headlight cleaner that looks like liquid polish and you just put it on and wipe it with a rag. It worked better than anything ever. Cleaned up the Xb in no time flat and they were so bad that I would have replaced them if there were aftermarket ones available. Not a kit, just a bottle by itself. Highly recommend.

Damn bro, makes me wonder how dirty mine is on my 02 now....
Probably pretty gross, with no filter ahead of it. The previous owner had a dog (maybe dogs). I think most of the crap on this evaporator core is fur. After all that work, you can bet I added the Jeep cabin air filter. Seems to work great so far - no loss in air output at the vents.

How much of a job is this to do? IO have to switch out my condenser as well and I was also told I should change out the dryer. I called the local Ford delaer to get an idea on what they would charge to do this job. Parts quotyed is $420 and labor is $800 for a total of over $1200.

The dealership also mentioned that instead of a dryer, I would want to change out the accumulator. I've never done this job before but am mechanically inclined and feel pretty confident I could do the job.
I looked up the condenser on Rock Auto. They have one for less than $70.
Mine is the 2014 Eco-Boost AWD.

Can anyone help me with some information on this job?

You have posted to the Town Car forum. Since Town Cars ended production in 2011 and you have some unknown model from model year 2014, it would be a better post (in a NEW THREAD) in the appropriate forum.

Do include the model name as Eco-Boost is an engine series and AWD is a power train choice. Neither are necessarily useful for the question you have. The model name and engine size are more useful data to guide you with AC repairs.

How the heck did THAT happen?? I guess I rushed the message. Okay, I'll re-post in the MKT folder. :-)

Performed transmission service ( Filter and fluid change )
I finally put the ATP Greyworks pan on mine with the drain plug, no more mess in the garage for me to clean. If you end up getting one, or have one, make sure the drain plug is torqued to at least 32-35 ft/lbs for no seepage.

Did you find the yellow OEM dipstick blocking plug in the pan?

No it was not in there, it was serviced @ 33,774 miles at the dealer per the CarFax before I bought it. It had 51k on it when I aquired it.

I just serviced the trans fluid and filter at 65k, then I'll do it @ 95k and so on and so on. Old fluid was still nice and red, smelled fine, and very little metal on the magnet or on the valve body. No dipstick plug in the old pan.

Replaced Watts Link and rear stabilzer bar bushings and rear stabilzer bar end links, what a difference that made for the wallows!!

Replaced both parking brake shoes on my 02 Sig Series, ....both sides, adjusted parking brake cable and star adjuster for shoes to get it to hold on a hill in Neutral....... What an absolute pain in the frigging ass. No room to work the bottom spring in at all or the keepers, adjuster kept falling out ....sucked.... I got it, but had to walk away a couple times it was that bad , ended up using a long flat head screwdriver in the hole and needle nose channel locks to guide it in. Absolutely the most frustrating thing I've done on this car since the rear shocks.
