What did you do to your Town Car today ?

Fixed my noisy air suspension compressor. I had bought new rubber bushings for the mount of the air compressor pump, but when taking it all apart, I realized there was no way to take the old bushings off, they are mounted on bolts that are part of the compressor, with rusty little clamps at the bottom. So...........I took three garden hose rubber gaskets, made a cut so they could be used, and they slipped perfectly above the original isolator bushings. Clamped everything down, started it up, and could barely even notice it running.

2004 Lincoln Town Car Ultimate Presidential Trim Pkg. Dumped 1" wheel adaptors on all 4 corners to get those tires out to 'just' inside the wheelwells. Car was lowered (sits level) by me 1.5 - 2". Nitto 255/50-17 rear..245/50-17 on front (factory rims). Looks Perfect now :)

Robnao, can I please just say... this thread is worthless without pics! ;) I really want to see those mods, especially the spacers, I was JUST thinking (like yesterday) about what it would look like with wheels brought out a bit.

Today I put a Sony double din radio in the 09 and removed the stock unit with Satellite radio. Wanted to keep it stock and I did for 6 months or so because I found the connection to get the stock Satellite radio active. Had a separate piece for the back up camera but never used it as it was too bulky. Now I have it all in a nice neat package with the new radio. PRICE WENT DOWN FROM THE last tome I did this too!

Found a replacement fuel tank that had been installed without drilling a hole for the filler neck clamp, without the clamp fuel will leak out of the neck to tank seal when parked uphill. Instead of dropping the tank for room to drill a hole I lubed the seal with engine oil like the big manual says to and used a regular ring clamp tightened down snug.

She sat over night with a full tank of ethanol free gas backed down the driveway and didnt leak a drop.
Now I`m deep cleaning and oiling up everything underneath the car to prevent any further surface rust or deterioration of rubber parts. Shes going to last another 30 years now and haul my ass around once I retire.

Just bought my 2003 Signature a couple of days ago. Did the obligatory first oil change today along with installing LED headlights and a biocide blast. Android Auto head unit on the way. Dropped her off at the shop to let them get her on the lift and do a post purchase inspection. Will probably steam the interior and apply leather conditioner shortly.

Honestly, there's not a whole lot I would change about this car, it's pretty great as is.

Not today, but yesterday I changed the oil, rotated the tires, and installed a transmission drain pan with a drain plug. I made a huge mess and spilled probably a quart of oil on the driveway but hopefully, with a drain plug, I won't have to worry about that.

I use my Town Car to tow a lawn mower and want to have easy access to change fluids.

Good list of things in the past few days.

I cleaned the throttle body and EGR. Replaced fuel filter. Ran Seafoam top end cleaner through the intake. Installed a touchscreen head unit, put on a sheepskin seat cover (miraculously the heated seats are still serious through the sheepskin), replaced a bunch of switches, replaced the DDM with a $20 boneyard unit. Now more windows are functional, mirror switch functional, trunk release button functional. Did a variety of things to get it smelling nice (ozone, biocide, baking soda, activated charcoal). Put down the fancy Lloyd's luxe floormats I ordered and applied leather conditioner to the seats. I also programmed some remotes but they don't work for s***. You have to be about a half foot away from the car and they still only work 1/4 of the time. I was also ready to change the plugs but the old ones looked practically brand new. Putting in the new bois seemed wasteful.

This may be a subject for a thread of it's own but on the DDM the replacement WAS NOT the same trim level as my car. I have a Signature and it came from a Cartier. Other than the possibility that the key fob issue is a problem with the DDM it seems to do its job.

Struggled all evening and night to get my faulty seat removed, (1999 Town car Sig)...and failed...had to pack it in for the night and admit defeat.

Well, I was all set - audio recording and all - to ask for ideas on why my Town Car sounded like it was going "woooooo" revving through intermediate RPM's. Then two days ago, it stopped; problem solved. Well, yesterday, I had complete electronics failure in front of a liquor store. Wouldn't start, jumped (and ran) but shifter lockout wouldn't let loose, radio was on but no display, HVAC on-off-on-off. Holy smokes. Alternator toast and I'd been living off battery since the sound stopped. Fortunately, brother had his Ford diesel right around the corner, so I took one of his batteries and headed to O'Really's for a replacement alternator. Thank goodness for Ford's modular building, batteries exact same frame size and terminal locations. About 5 minutes to swap batts, 5 min. to swap alternator; such a great platform to work on when minor maintenance is needed.

Now off to find a shop to rebuild my OG motorcraft alternator so I'm not using this Ultima.

I had a new stereo put in. The original one was not working. I just bought this 2 days ago, my first Lincoln ever. '04 with 97K miles. Zero rust and absolutely spotless undercarriage. Spotless interior except for the long bezel surrounding the radio and speedo is light tan instead of the dark tan that the rest of the interior has. Obviously replaced at some point. As far as I can tell the only things that don't quite work right was the radio and I fixed that, and a driver door module which I just found out last night.

My driver door power window died today, made a death sound and stopped. Ordered a new assembly with motor. Dorman, $63. Plus ordered a sensor for the same door. Dealing with the whole 'Door Ajar' issue here also. While the door panel's off I can see which DDM I need to order from Ebay or elsewhere. I've only had the car for 5 days and to be honest I'm not concerned at all finding all the stuff wrong with it. Quite the opposite. When I went for a test drive it had a dead battery, and a bad alternator. So when I bought it it came with a brand new alternator, battery, and serpentine belt. Three things off my to do checklist. The DDM will fix 3 more. Runs, drives, shifts like a dream. I'm not sweating the small stuff that breaks. I knew it was 20 yrs old with 97K when I bought it, I fully expect stuff like this to start breaking. Apparently the intake manifolds don't last forever, and a few other known issues are somewhat common. Not gonna be surprised if they happen. Was gonna flush and fill the tranny, but the fluid is still bright red with no burnt smell at all. Getting undercoated on the 20th. New brakes before winter starts, and I'm hoping that I'll be good to go for awhile. At least as far as repairs.

Felt down on power recently, so i did this

I'm new on the forum.. I just acquired a 2011 Signature Limited with 101K on it. Very nice, and it doesn't seem to need much just yet. I got tags today and took it out for a first ride, all went well. No surprises. There was a half of a tank of gas in it- I added a large can of Seafoam to clean the injectors, I cleaned up the engine compartment, and am working on cleaning up the interior (which is already pretty nice.)
I did run into one problem-- there are two vertical pieces of what seems to be black plastic trim where the back door window meets the front door window (poor photo attached- sorry.) They are mostly black and glossy, but have areas that are cloudy and it looks like there might have been some kind of coating that might have partially worn off? I've tried cleaning these pieces, waxing them, I've used Back to Black, etc, all to no avail. One of them is considerably more faded and dull looking than the one beside it and it really stands out.
Does anyone know a good way to restore these?

Thanks for this great forum!
There are "how to" videos on Youtube on the restoration that may help.
You can also browse eBay and Amazon for replacement B Pillar trim

"B-pillar trim.." That's the key-- I didn't know what it was called. I've had more than a few occasions where I couldn't find info I needed because I didn't know what terms to search with. Thanks very much for this.

MV, I usually polish my Town Car b-pillar with a cheap drill mounted white foam pad and some all-in-one polish from O'Reallys. It works well for mine, for the time being, but they are definitely getting sun-baked. You might get in touch with your window tinter too, I was talking to mine and randomly asked about vinyl "stickers" on my minivan b-pillars (where the gloss has actually been completely worn off). He applies that stuff for ~$30 per side. Might be a better option than the plastic-chrome type pillar covers.
