Guess the fact there were 0 wifi success stories was not sufficient clue

. I thought perhaps being able to park right outside my router would help.
And I have updated my descriptions to include the year, thanks for getting me to realize that omission.
Sigh, and thanks,

Hi Jeff. You are very welcome.
Yes, WiFi updating of SYNC 3.0 was problematic from the very beginning. And while it improved very slightly with SYNC 3.4, it was still far from good. Essentially, it never met promises/expectations.
SYNC 4 corrected the issues and was far better. And the new Google based system is even better again.
In my case, when I first purchased my 2018 MKZ, I installed a WiFi booster at the closest point in my house to the driveway. While it offered a strong signal to the car, it still did not improve WiFi updating for SYNC.
Over the years, I did have two SYC updates actually begin via WiFi (out of about 6 total), but they were downloading so slowly, I still went to the Lincoln SYNC site and downloaded/installed them manually via USB flash drive.
On a related note, SYNC 3.0/3.4 updates are extremely rare nowadays, since they are legacy systems. Any updates are usually only to prepare the system for new NAV map updates (once a year), or an extremely rare bug fix. So once you make your initial check now, don’t go crazy checking every day/week/month etc. Once every six months will do. Plus, when an update does become available, someone will usually post a heads up here on the Lincoln Forums.
In your case, definitely go to the SYNC 3 update website and check for available downloads for your vehicle. Then, follow the instructions to download and install them.
The manual update process may seem confusing at first, but it is actually quite easy once you are familiar with it. There are also several existing threads explaining the entire process and how to avoid common mistakes. And obviously, just ask questions if you have any.
Let us know how you make out and good luck.
