Rear middle console

This is unfortunately one of those unfortunate situations where there is no easy solution. If it were me and the center console mattered a bunch - I'd force them to re-order and perhaps try and negotiate some free future service or something for the dealer's mistake and our having to wait another 8-12 weeks (or whatever it is) to get it right.
Not sure about yours but technically I had to sign off on the order, so not sure it’s their mistake. However, I’m shocked dealers don’t suggest or question the choice just to confirm, knowing how it defaults.
 
Before I ordered my 22 reserve, I did the build online and it showed the mini or large rear console with no charge for the large console. My 22 got changed to a 23 in May of 22. delivered in August.
 
Hey Moondog66, I too would like to retrofit my Aviator with the full console. Here's where I'm at with this. Let me first say that I went back to my dealer to tell them it was left off the order, hoping they would order the parts for me at a discount. I got no concession out of them. Not surprising. I also called the concierge to see if maybe they had a connection to parts that the general public does not have. Initially they told me they would get one for me but I should try the dealer more more time. So I called my sales manager and got no response. No surprise again. Went back to the concierge and the rep further looked into it. Their last response was that since nothing is in disrepair on the vehicle, they will not get the console and the original rep who said they would get it, misspoke.
If you go to fordparts.com and enter your vehicle info, then search full rear middle console it comes up on the results amid a handful of other results so you can scroll through to find it. You will see that the unit consists of many parts costing a good buck. The parts guy at my dealer didn't even want to price it out for me because there are so many parts to it and this may be the case at a lot of dealerships. We're probably looking at a couple of grand for all the parts.
I work for an agency that employs some very good mechanics who do a lot of electrical work on police cars (Ford Explorers). They tell me that cars are wired up for all options, whether the option is in the car or not. So the wiring should be there for this thing and they said they would check the wiring diagram for me and let me know the location of the plug should I get the console. Still, if this was not the case and you really wanted the console, would non functioning sunshade buttons be a deal breaker? The mini should come out easy as I lifted the cup holder right out. A plastic base is bolted to the floor which would have to be taken out because the base for the full is a little different.
So the only obstacle here as I see it is cost and possibly not getting a parts guy to order it. Follow up with me please.

If anyone reading this has a full rear console and would rather have the mini I would be interested in a swap.
I sourced a full console from an online auction that appears to be a complete unit from a salvaged Aviator. The floor bracket was not included but is available from my local Ford dealer with part number LC5Z-78045B34-A. I haven't started working on it yet to see if wiring is in place but will keep you posted. BTW, the bracket cost almost as much as the console...ugh
 
When I searched that part on the Tasca site it comes back and says it does not fit a 2020 Aviator Reserve. It is for the Aviator BL and BLGT.

The Ford parts counter printout from my dealership says it fits 2020 Aviator with 2nd row console. The small console bracket is currently mounted there. Will keep all posted.
 
Update on the console retrofit. Finally had time to work on it. Sourced a complete console from eBay, I had to order the mounting bracket from local dealer along with side trays. I was told the wire harness "should be there, but some aren't"...mine didn't so I ordered that too. Total parts ordered are:
Mounting bracket - LC5Z-7804-5B34-A (direct bolt in where the cupholder bracket or bench seat is located)
2 side trays - LC5Z-78045N28-AK and AD (left and right)
Mounting bolts (4) - W711158-S439
Wire Harness - N1MZ-14A699-B
Installation is fairly straightforward, unbolt seats and tilt forward (no need to unplug or remove). Unbolt front bolts on cupholder bracket, rear bolts accessible under carpet. Have to do it by feel, but no issue. Swap brackets, new mounting surface is slightly longer so carpet had to be trimmed a couple inches to fit. Plug for wire harness is located under carpet in front of 2nd row left seat. Plug cable in and feed under carpet to center bracket and plug into console. Bolt console down and side trays snap right in. Reinstall seats and bingo. Total time was less than 3 hours. I suck at taking progress photos but I attached one of cupholder bracket and finished job.

We would have loved to have the rear seat center console, but we had to take what was available at the time, which was a full rear seat. The rear console just carries the luxury look to the second row.

Wow, impressive retrofit effort! I'm pretty handy but I'm not sure I would have gone to the effort. I however do really like my full 2nd row console.

Yes, the plug for the console is located in front of LH 2nd row seat under the carpet alongside the main harness, it had a dummy plug cover to avoid damage/debris. I purchased the harness from Ford for $32. Removed the protective cover, plugged in the harness. It feeds under carpet to directly in front of console, even had the snap rings attached to connect to harness tabs. Plug into console and all lights, plugs and switches work.
 
That sounds like no programming is required. They assumed that no wiring, no function, so why have 2 different program modes. Program to work and the hardware drives if it works or not. Very good for you - your gamble paid off.

In Canada for 2023, the full console is a $750 option but it's only available if you order the Reserve 201A or Grand Touring 301A. The Reserve and Grand Touring are the only models we get.

Now that you have it installed. How hard is it to remove? I have the full console (and love it), but if I took a trip with many people/kids it might be better to have it removed for space for them to get back, and also to protect it from kids climbing around.

I'll tell you how to remove it and you can decide if how hard it would be for you. It has side trays on each side that clip onto the console. They just pull straight out and you can access the bolts, 2 per side. Remove the bolts and the console lifts off the base enough to unplug the harness. Once removed, the plastic base and the harness will be exposed. It opens up the middle to access 3rd row, but passengers would be stepping over the base and wire harness. :confused:
