Power running boards are not working

2023 navigator - same issue. Had the car for a month and had to go to setting 4 times to turn back to auto mode (randomly goes to off)
888-214-2155 call Lincoln in Detroit to have a record of this issue if I fall out again I am suing them. You expect the step or running board to be there without looking for them when you open your vehicle door. This is a safety issue.

Yeah I think your right!

Yeah I’ve got the same issue going on. From reading on the forum it might be caused from when Sync reboots but I don’t understand why it would reboot sometimes and not others. Is everyone who’s having the issue also using PAAK? I’m wondering if there is some link there or what is going on causing the software issue.

Maybe related or not but I’ve also had the passenger mirror over opening issue as well.

No I`m not using the PAAK on my truck I never even set it up. Last week I was sitting in the garage next to my truck and the Lincoln Embrace was going nuts it opened the boards and turned the lights on about 8 times in a 30 minute time frame. The remote was sitting with me on the table and it just kept acting up.Also my 2021 never in the 2 years that I had it do this either.

Call 888 214 2155 Lincoln Concierge in Detroit they are available 24 hours a day for anyone having issues with their vehicle. This is safety issue that Lincoln has to fix. Some say why hmm say for instance of you are like my wife and myself, we rely on the running boards to get in and out and if open your door and not looking for them you will fall flat on your knees or face and it has happened. Lincoln Motor in Detroit will contact the nearest dealer on your behalf and open up a history for future reference just in case of a recall for safety concern.

Yes I am 61 years old and do rely on the boards to function normally and I will call in to complain about this safety issue. Also my wife is 65 and she needs the boards to function normally!

You were sitting next to it with the key. How did you expect it behave?

Two manufacturer communications regarding the running board getting set to off were published with NHTSA back in June. Numbers SSM 51714 and SSM 51737. It basically says they are aware of the issue but no fix is currently available. Advises dealers to monitor for when a fix is available.

Thank you. Do you have the official link to this? Mine almost crushed my feet when I was standing on them and they retracted!

Yes! My 2023 does this every once in a while where the power running boards are set back to "off" and do not deploy. I have no idea why this is happening and have not attempted to address it with the dealership. Right now my car is at the dealership because the front differential was eating itself. Im buying a GMC Yukon because the vehicle will be in the shop that long. The running boards are the least of my worries.

Here it is:

Scroll down to the Manufacturer Communication section. They are the ones dated June 14 and June 20.
Thank you! This is a huge issue. I am disabled and I have a 3 year old. Without the running boards i and she cannot enter the car. Also twice once when I was on them and my daughter was on them they retracted without warning! We both fell and luckily didn’t hurt ourselves too badly.

I dont think Lincoln will do anything about it.

I hope they do fix it. While it may seem like a simple inconvenience, it really is a safety issue. When you expect it to be there and it is not you can easily fall. It has happened to both myself and my wife where we were exiting the vehicle and about fell down as we were expecting the step to be there.

Mine just did this today for the first time. Luckily I am not (too) old that I couldn't get in. I could see why it could be a real issue for some people. Has anyone attempted to leave them set to "out" and see if they ever default to "off"?

Tried that. Doesn’t help. Still goes back to off.

No I have not tried that yet. Please contact Detroit so you can get a case number for future reference.

Just happened to me for the 3rd time. Had to go into Features and reset.
