Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Nautilus

Agree with you angore about the too small indicator lights on the side mirrors.
I actually think the mirrors are too small, but my bet is that once side cameras to replace mirrors are legal in the US, those two squarish screens(?) will be camera feeds.... 1719845279187.webp

Need to reconfigure the under deck rear storage. My 2015 Edge had much more room for storing things including a 15 ft set of jumper cables, the hitch receiver with still room for more. Between the jack, spare tire, fuel filler and the lugwrench, there isn't much extra space for anything in this new Nautilus

Yes the partioning reduces space.

1. Replace the AC vents with manual vents.
2. Radio presets are way to sensitive.
3. temp change is hard to see.
4. drive mode should stay as selected rather then having ti select each time you start the car.
5. You should be able to delete navigation addresses.

I am driving a 2023 Nautilus loaner car from the dealership. I like it better than my 2024 Nautilus Reserve II.
Every feature is easy to see and use. Not so with the 2024 model.

*Rear view mirror camera
*power or manual rear window shades
*more ambient lighting colors
* cooled rear seat( at least on the Black Label)
*more interior color options that’s not just black label exclusive (Camel, Red, chocolate,)
*A plug in Hybrid
* Nautilus coupe
*A sportier version
*Better towing
* exotic exterior colors
*More background themes
*Brighter resolution on the infotainment screen (it’s way too dark in the sun)

Robert, I agree with you completely. I so wish I would have purchased a 2023 Nautilus. I had 7 of those models from the first one in 2006. They had been refined to near perfection. And that 2.7L twin-turbo V6 was superb. Thirty states have now passed regulations against distracted driving, and what does this car have -- the biggest distracted driving opererating system imaginable, when it works properly. Its worse than using any smartphone. Too many menus, functions buried several taps to find or find again whatever you want to control or change. Too many seconds not looking at the road and crazy drivers. The prior Nautilus models had the proper mix of touch-screen and actual buttons and knobs which are much easier to access and control when driving. The seat heat/cool controls are incredibly tiny. The steering wheel capacitive touch buttons I hate -- first touch and then slide your fingers around. The steering wheel radio forward/back buttons don't work as intended most of the time depending on what music source is displayed on the 11" screen, the silly way to control the air vents which reset after each restart just because Tesla and Rivian had these. I am constantly being nagged to keep my hands on the wheel even though both my hands are on the wheel. And heated steerring wheels have always had 360-deg heating completely around the wheel, but not this car -- two places don't have the heating elements. I could go on. I'll probably dump the car after a year or two. I hate myself almost daily for getting rid of my prior 2019 Nautilus and not buying one of the last 2023s.

I am out shopping for a Lexus only 3 months after taking delivery of my 2024 Nautilus. Car is at the dealership for 2nd time to repair rear shocks or what ever is making noise in the real end on rough roads. They have had the car for a week. Everything about this car is unacceptable

I know this has already been mentioned her or in other threads... I drove my Nautilus for an extended period for the first time at night this weekend and WOW, those map lights are CRAZY bright! Between those lights and the lights coming from the screens, there is way too much light in the cabin and I actually had glare on the center screen. Yeah, that needs to be adjustable.

I test drove both and RX350 and 350h last weekend. Def some noticeable differences and, believe it or not, most swayed in favor of the Nautilus. That said, I would probably still purchase a 350h (or even the 500h) but the trade they offered would have me taking a $16K hit in ~100 days.

Yeah, the Lincoln clearly depreciates more than I had anticipated. Looking like I'm going to have to stick it out for a couple of years, so I'm really, really trying to fall back in love with my Nautilus.

I priced a Lexus RX350H and they wanted $8,500 difference. My Nautilus is a Reserve II. MY window sticker was $66,000 and they offered $56,000. in trade after 90 days. I haver had many problems with my Nautilus like most of us have. I do not like the new high tech buttons and switches etc. They should have left the 2023 model along except for maybe the new dash. Leave the controls on the steering wheel.

I believe there is a lighting adjustment on the underside of the dash on the left side.

I drove the RX350h and liked it. However I also drove the ES300h. Only problem is front wheel drive 2 wheel. I am trying to see if the 2025 ES300 is all wheel drive and if maybe they are offering a plug in hybrid with an incentive. I would go that way if that was available. Trade in was $800.00 for a luxury model ES300.

There must be a way to dim that screen. Check with your dealer. Lincoln Way is not any help with questions.

My sedan days are behind me. I will consider the RX and TX (when the stop sales is lifted), but they will need to close the trade gap before I can even seriously consider.

That switch did not make a change in the map lights unfortunately.

Hi NCNautilus. There is no intensity/brightness adjustment for the map lights (if we are discussing the same things).

One question though: Are you driving at night with the map lights on all the time? If yes...why?
Or are you simply just stating that they are too bright at night when you do turn them on?

Also, for those interested in getting the most for their used vehicle: If you can avoid it, do not trade-in. Instead, try to sell your vehicle privately first. It is not hard and will usually net us an impressive amount more than a Dealer trade-in offers.
After all, Dealers do not take trade-ins as a favor, they take the to make money on the resale, even if the vehicle will merely go to auction.

There is more to it, for those interested. But again, it is not hard. So feel free to ask questions

Good luck.

Map lights stay on all the time. At night they are obnoxiously bright and no, I have not seen a way to effectively turn them down without also dimming other screens. I have had 8 BMW's over the years and they have orange map lights placed in exactly the same location -- they have never been so bright or so distracting. The ones in the Nautilus are badly designed.

If I amusing the navigation for guidance at night then I can't dim the screen. Every car I have owned with nav you could dim the nav screen when I use, Is this another Lincoln Digital surprise?

There is quite a list of problems with this car. And the beat goes on.
