HID to LED Conversion

Any idea where I can buy that adopter they use in that video. The HID to LED adopter. That’s all I need. And I email them and they not responding.

Hi Fivestarzay and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. If no one here can tell you where to purchase the adapter alone, watch the video on YouTube itself. Then you can comment/message the company that made the video and ask them. They answer viewers comments.

Also, others have asked in the comments where they can purchase the adapter, and they were told to read the video description. Then, if you read the video description, it states:

"2015-2020 Lincoln Continental Modified from Xenon to LED Tutorial. Plug and Play

2,723 views Aug 3, 2020 In this video, we'll show you how to remove the bumper, headlight, and install them back. if you choose our unique technology upgrade wire harness kits (MUST BUY Lincoln Continental LED headlights from us too, because we need to do some coding inside the LED headlights). You can upgrade or replace your car headlights directly, plug and play."

So it would seem it you want to purchase their adapter, you must also purchase the LED headlight units from them.

Good luck.

Hi Fivestrzay. Yes that was what I figured. However, choices will probably be very limited. Hopefully another member may have a source/seller for the adapter harness and post back here.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

So with months of research I finally finished the LED Conversion. It was NOT a piece of cake. Going through wiring diagrams and a little luck got to where I am today. I love the look and brightness of the new LED Lights. All functions work from the Daytime running lights to the turn signal. It really looks awesome! Programming the Headlight control module had to be done to accomplish this task. So if you’re asking if it can be done. YES! But I would do it at your own risk. Its really not plug and play. You do have to splice into the harness.
Did you have to reprogram the module because it was a euro headlight? Or do you have to do it for US too.

That is never a good sign.
Before you buy is usually the everyting is perfect phase. You will be so happy you bought our product!
Then get ignored after purchase.

Getting ignored before buying .... IMO that is making a statement

How are you FiveStarzay99

So the process is simple. First, you need a pair of headlights with modules already installed. Do not buy the headlights without the module. The 3 wires that have to be modified are 1) Headlight 2) HIgh Beam 3) Turn Signal. Everything else is that same from what I experienced. When ready to program the headlights. You need forScan. You go to the headlight control module and you input the same codes as what's in a black label with LED headlights. I copied and pasted one from a random Black Label. It's not an easy process, but you can do it. You definitely need the wiring schematics for both HID and LED. I purchased the Continental wiring diagram book on ebay for $20. Let me know if you need any other advice.

Hey Tony

Thanks for your reply. That’s very informative and I’m quite familiar with those wire now. So far I got one headlight with all modules and the other only had one. So almost there on that part.

I’ve always love this car after I rented one for a 5 hours drive. Best comfort. Anyway, I bought the car from a insurance auction. I am building it right now to pass New York inspection. Im thinking if I do the LED now and mess with the car computer, will that jeopardize me passing my state inspection?

So I was things of putting the regular HID on to pass the inspection before i do the LED. and your guardians will be a great help. Thank you!

Hi Fivestarz. Changing headlights should not affect state vehicle inspections. The only caveat would be if changing them caused some sort of fault light to illuminate. Some states will fail a vehicle if a system fault light is illuminated. Usually this only applies to Check Engine/DTC fault lights, but I am not sure about NY.

My advice would be to take it for vehicle inspection and pass before you change the headlight units.
Then change them after you pass inspection and hope it goes smoothly. But if there is a problem, at least it will not hold up your inspection.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Yes I were alittle hesitant about that. Thanks for clarifying.

Will do!

Tony. correct if I’m wrong please.

I’m I buying the LED pigtail from Amazon to do this modification or I’m I using the HID pigtail that’s already on the car.

I add pictures of the LED pigtail Amazon selling.

That's nice that they have a pigtail adaptor. I actually spliced into my harness and reconnected the wires. What you're buying looks good. If i could do it again, I'd go with an adaptor. What headlights did you end up buying? U.S. or Euros?

I purchased the euros. I pass inspection every time. They actually have the amber corner delete. It looks so much cleaner.

Okay. I have that in my eBay cart now with the wiring diagram book and the Forscan.

I watched some 101 video about Forscan. I’m actually watching that video right now of the dude who program his fog light to run with his headlight on his F-150. Excited I’m getting my head wrap around this thing now. Just a few more questions.

1. All three of those wire you named, are they getting tie together? Or will the wiring diagram book answer that for me.

2. Is it fine to have the headlight plug in while reprogramming?

3. Where did you get those black label codes from? (Save me the research time). Lol.

Oh and I bought the American one.

1. All three of those wire you named, are they getting tie together? Or will the wiring diagram book answer that for me.
No, they'll be separate. It's all color coordinated so you can't make a mistake. The book will show you the correct diagram.

2. Is it fine to have the headlight plug in while reprogramming?
Absolutely! you need the headlight plugged in and the ignition on to use forscan.

3. Where did you get those black label codes from? (Save me the research time). Lol.

Go to cars.com and get a vin from a black label. make sure it has the LED headlights. Once you get the vin. Go to this site to get the build data. https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt
Copy the As Built data for the black label.

the Forscan should have the module for the headlight control. You have to put the exact data in the module. once completed the LED headlight will work. if you don't do it right, the high beams won't work.

FYI. I lost my fog lights in this process. Maybe because i used Euro headlights. I couldn't get them to work. I actually had to open the housing and install aftermarket fogs that run all the time. Hopefully the fogs will work for you.

Okay. Thanks a lot man! I’ll keep the forums posted about how this goes. When I get everything together. I’m actually confident about it now.

Good day Tony

So my second modules just arrive and i try it in the headlight and it dont work. im kinda bummed about that. My question is are the headlight supposed to turn anyway without doing the wire modification first. well, the left one that came with all the mudules do turns on but stays on. Its the right that im doing mudules swap with, thats the one not turning on. so i just want to know if im facing what you once went through.

i'll provide you the number of both modules so you can tell me if i got it right. The number on the side module is FG9T-13B656-BF and the number on back module is FG9T-13B656-AD.

I really thought i nail it with that. but i guess i was wrong. it can't not the car harness because it work on the HID

@Tony16
hold that thought. i just found a AF on ebay! im going to try it.

I'm sure you know when you change to the LED system you won't have the Adaptive feature [ headlights move with the steering ] that you had with HIDs anymore and unless you alter the IPC you may still have the instrument cluster option to turn the HID adaptive function on or off.
Not a big deal in the sheme of things.

Guys sorry for interrupting, I’m facing the same issue now, I bought the Lincoln Continental 2017 Select without front bumper and wanted to upgrade the headlights to LED, and I have purchased all parts now the only remaining is the The Adapter Wiring Harness Cable.

Could someone suggest where I can find it :(

Appreciate it

Good Afternoon Continental Forum

I recently purchased my 2019 Continental and wanted to upgrade to the LED Headlights. I searched eBay and found a pair of European headlights for a good price. The only thing I see different is that there is no orange on the corner light which i can do without. I’ve been searching this forum and I haven’t see anyone who has tried this yet. I thought It would be helpful if I created this thread for my first post and did a step by step instruction on how to do this. I'm super verse in automotive mechanics and I have no problem removing the bumper and Installing the lights. My issue is that I might have to rewire the Harness. The reason why I say that is that when I plugged in the headlights with the car and headlights off. The lights lit up. When I put the Headlights on, the signals lit up (steady. I included some pictures on my recent test. Hopefully I can get some assistance from the Forum who would have the Wiring Diagram for the Harness. I need the HID and the LED schematics. and for a long shot, I would need the European LED Harness. That’s if it differs from the US version. This should be an interesting spring project and I think we can all benefit from this.
Did you change the ballast box, or just swap lights?
