• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1998 Town Car" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1998 Town Car" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I stuck the discussion to the top of the Nautilus section. :)

I can do this - but before I do - what would you think about me creating an FAQ subforum in each section? The subforum would be listed above the topics and would allow for all topics relating to that model's FAQ's to be posted and discussed individually and specifically. Instead of having all the FAQs in one discussion, each FAQ would have it's own topic with discussion following that topic. It would be extremely easy to search through to find what you need. My feeling is that one big topic of all the FAQs will be difficult to follow and maintain as the topic will have discussion that follows for all the different FAQs being discussed. With a subforum dedicated entirely to the vehicle's FAQs, I think this would work well. Let me know your thoughts...

Thank you!
If you do, separate the FAQs of the 2024 and later Nautilus from the earlier models.

As it is setup by Admin, members can contribute to the FAQ with the important stuff.
For the newest vehicles, since most of the proprietary information is kept tight lipped by Ford/Lincoln, TSB's and warranty issues/recalls are the usual stuff shared by members. As time goes by more information becomes available to share. ( manuals, DIY projects, upgrades etc)

As the FAQ builds up over time it become more valuable to members when researching.

That would work perfectly. Each subforum can be the reference point for the model/section and members can easily find important items/discussion of topic

Okay. It's on my to do list... Thank you!

I think a good tab to have pinned are the Dealer Order Guides for each model. These tend to get buried in discussions and reposted. It would be nice to have a single repository for people to refer to.

A "Buying or Selling a Lincoln, questions " section could handle that but a disclaimer would have to be posted about ads. Members would be posting ads for sale all the time if you didn't add the disclaimer

Regarding FAQs, here's how I'm laying it out so far. Let me know your thoughts, opinions, ideas and criticisms.

To note, the reason I did this instead of having each section as a subforum of a model is because I'm thinking a single link in the navigation bar "Lincoln Model FAQs" which brings people to the section below, will make it easy to find. But I'm open to change it to a subsection/forum for each model.

Thank you!

That works perfectly. One link to access all is simple and easy (y)
I would lay out a post to introduce the use of this to help members.

Important information only. Links, pics, videos, articles from sources like Ford/Lincoln NHTSB, etc
Diy member articles , common parts lists, common upgrades, tricks and tips.
Some of the more established members will probably come up with some good stuff to add as well

Tell me more about this and I'll get working on it...
The Buying/Selling Questions section can be a hodgepodge of things.

Dealer ordering can include entire steps to ordering, deciphering order processing/transit codes, employee discount code offerings, etc.
Selling could be a member asking what their vehicle might be worth or someone inquiring about a neighbor selling and is this worth it type of questions.

Occasional VIN check requests can sometimes be asked for older/Antique vehicles in this section

A disclaimer about Selling personal vehicles in the section would have to be posted or you'll get the drive-by posters or occasional members posting in the Buying/Selling section instead of the proper Classified section location.

I still think we need a topic for dealer order guides with subtopics for each model. This is completely separate from buying and selling. These are Lincoln produced documents that can easily answer questions regarding a particular model features.

Okay, so I've added a link at the top in the navigation area. It leads to here:

There's a notice at the top letting people know how to use the FAQ section. Now - how do we get people to populate the sections with useful information? I can make an announcement thread/discussion - but what shall I include in that message to get people interested in participating?

If you’ve been on the Blue Oval Forum they have this feature. It’s tabbed at the top. There is a hyperlink to each model. They have Dealer Order Guieds going back several years. It’s helpful when the next year model comes out as well as reference for those buying used vehicles.

Hi Administrator. I was just going to make the same recommendation as RedHoncho. Perhaps pin a link to the vehicle relevant FAQ sub-forum at the top of each vehicle sub-forum?
In this way, those who are not in the habit of scrolling down through all the sub-forums (only going to their vehicle of interest) may have a better chance to see the new FAQ sub-forums?

Just a thought. Thank you and good luck. 🍻

Thank you. This would work. But do you think the link at the top in the navigation area would suffice? Let me know. It's probably not an area you'd look at as you already know your way around - but it may be good for those who aren't quite as well versed.

Okay, so they're lists of information along with files to download. Is it the downloads that are the most important thing? If so, where do I legally obtain them?

Other than the files, where does the information come from? Do members post the info? Sorry, this is something I'm not previously familiar with.

Most of the guides come from Ford employees or dealership employees. They are legally obtained. My sales representative has emailed them to me before.

If there is a way to pin that topic at the top of each model tab so it doesn’t move down as new topics are added that would be best. The other option is to create one big topic as each model has and subdivide that into each model order guides.

Yes, an announcement posted and bumped a few times over a week or so, that active members can participate. Retired/active Ford/Lincoln employess are excellent sources of information. Even having some of the Public information staff over at Lincoln can pop in if they can get notified

@Administrator what are the file size limitations for uploading to server?
I tried to add a 1.81Mb file in the brochure section of the town car FAQ and it rejected it as too big.

Okay, so our members will be providing these files, correct? And yes, I can stick a topic at the top of each vehicle's discussion forum.

15mb... What is the file type you're trying to upload?
