ACTIVE GLIDE NOT WORKING

My car maps I think updated?? After that AG stopped working. The dealership and concierge had no answer after multiple tries. Then I reset the car to factory setting. Reset sync 4. Reset wifi settings and reset on the air update settings. That worked. It was a software issue.
Last week dealership gave me a brand new car to check AG and even in that car AG was not working. After I read the papers that I uploaded before and went through the whole exercise with my car. I realized what is going on. The new car at the dealership was not updated either. I have offered that dealership to come and teach them how to update software.
Well, imagine a doctor teaching Lincoln technicians how to update Lincoln software. That will be awesome.
Glad you sorted it out.

Mafazal could you please share some step by step instructions on how you resolved this via reset?
Yes, I reset the car to factory settings. Then reset sync 4. Reset wifi and updated the software update settings and that worked. I just used active glide and it was working well.
So when the software stopped working last month, it also started giving me a " watch the road" message very frequently. But after the successful update, now active glide working well. It was a soft ware issue.

It's an issue for many Active Glide AND Blue Cruise units where the map date does not update. Current maps should have a date of 13-04-23. I can point you toward a fix but its in another forum as there are many more Blue Cruise units on the road with this issue.

You need the attached bulletin:

Chances of that working are slim. If you have access to FDRS you will see that the GWM update is simply not there, if it is the date still does not update.

I am considering trading my 2022 Corsair for a 2023 so I can get AtiveGlide. My current Corsair has Co-Pilot 360 1.5 Plus and does a great job of self steering on any highway that has both sides of the lanes marked (even in rain with poor visibility). But it requires me to have my hands on the steering wheel and often does not notice they are there.

I have a question. When not on mapped highways where the hands free works, does the AtiveGuide still do self steering (lane centering) but require you to have you hands on the steering wheel? From what I have read in this thread, I think the answer is yes.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me.

Hi AJ. Yes. When on non-ActiveGlide/mapped roads which have observable lane markings, the system will still incorporate Lane Keep Assist and/or Lane Centering. Within the limitations of the Lane Keep Assist/Lane Centering systems, of course.

Good luck.

Hello, I am well aware of this. A very important step missing. Please make sure that your car is connected to strong wifi network. You will have to set up a time for an upgrade and do not drive your car while upgrading.

The AG will work only on mapped highways. You can leave your hands. On unmapped highways, you will have to have hand on the steering wheel.

Thanks. You are confirming it will work on unmapped highways with the hands on the steering wheel. It may seem a strange question, but my GM SuperCruise does not do any lane centering except on mapped highways.

AG as much as I know will do lane centering on unmapped also. but you will have to have hands-on steering wheels

Tom, I checked out the URL you posted. I make my living working in technology - and it looks complicated to me. Why would I not ask the dealer to fix the problem for me versus following the process outlined?

Also, what is the thinking behind success (at returning hands-free AG) being slim chances for following TSB 22-2494?

Try it for yourself and see. A 2 day FDRS license is $50 and you will see that the TSB you mention is simply not possible. The GWM fix they discuss in the update is not there, period. I hope it works for you, did not work for me or anybody else yet that I can find. Did it work for you?

Tom, I go to the dealer January 9th. Will let you know.

Hi Mike. I agree with you, and would advise you take your new, still covered under warranty 2022 Navigator to the Dealer, and have them properly diagnose and correct the issues you have, before resorting to self-help/home remedies which may wind up leading to warranty claims issues later.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Hello
I will suggest doing it yourself. It is very easy. You have worked in IT. I am a doctor. I took my car to the dealer twice and they cannot figure out what is the problem and I knew that there is something to do with an update. Because when I saw the update showing up, that day AG stopped working.
Just make sure that your car is attached to a strong wi fi signal. Go on to settings and set up a time for the software to update. Maybe you can set up a time after 5 minutes when you are doing this. Just make sure strong wifi signals. Do not drive your car while updating. Maybe do not drive for an hour after you set up a time to update the software. After the software gets updated, it should work fine. I figured out this with my son and that was the hilarious scene when a doctor was teaching Lincoln technicians how to update AG.

Dr. Mafzal, let me understand specifically what you are suggesting, since I am all for simplicity.

1. I've gone to Settings, and chosen System Updates
2. I've chosen a time for the update, 1am ET, every day of the week. Of course, I'm not in my car at that time - I'm in bed and the car is off.

Do I need to pick a time when I'm in the car and the car is running, with a strong wi-fi signal?

No.

Hi gang. SYNC 3.0/3.4 needed a very strong WiFi connection to perform updates (If/when not updating via USB). And even then, WiFi updates were problematic for most owners.

However, SYNC 4 updates OTA (Over The Air), and does not need to be WiFi connected for updating, except in circumstances where WiFi may be needed to complete an update. In those cases, a message will appear on screen.

If an owner wants to set up SYNC 4 WiFi updates at a particular time, there is no harm in doing that. But it is not usually necessary, unless the owner has a particular reason to do so (which is entirely possible, of course).

Keep us updated and good luck.
