2024 Nautilus software and battery issues

An over-abundance of tech is not a Lincoln thing. It's an industry-wide thing. Manufacturers are trying to differentiate themselves with new tech, and luxury manufacturers are out ahead on that front. I'm not sure that the tech itself sells cars, but it does create buzz and an oh-wow factor. I didn't buy a Nautilus because of the 48" screen, but it sure added to the feel that the car was something modern, different and interesting. I sat in a new X5 a couple weeks ago. Beautiful car, but it just felt dated compared to the Nautilus.

It seems their target market is absolutely those who are looking for more tech-ish bells and whistles. And like it or not, cars are traveling computers and it’s only going to be more so as time goes on.
… actually they are rolling computer networks

I'm in the I like everything except the all the tech, anymore though one is trapped. Profiles....lol for what??? It's not a toy it's a vehicle. Connectivity to my phone that is off. The dark screen trying to adjust settings for cooled seats screen is so dark seat icon sooooo small near on impossible. (max brightness) Almost got in an accident trying to change my vent discharge direction. Whatever FM channel my radio picks up. All I use.

Im in the when driving camp pay attention to the road. I have a rear view mirror and 2 side mirrors, its all one needs to safety operate a vehicle if you do your job and are a responsible driver.

We had a Kia Telluride it was months before I figured out what the orange things were in the side view mirror. Mostly they were a distraction.

Personally, I think they have put way too much technology into the Nautilus much of which will never be used by older owners such as myself. More technology equals more software issues. Most important to me are the safety features, navigation and satellite radio. A car is not supposed to be a traveling computer where you can look at multiple sites while trying to drive. It is to travel from point A to point B in the safest manner possible. I can pretty much bet there will be many more CSP's issued for software related glitches. The problem is the customer pays the price with multiple trips back to the dealer to fix problems. This isn't unique to Lincoln, I think all manufactures have similar issues.
I'm approaching the end of my 7th decade and the the technology is the only reason I bought a new vehicle.

It is a pain that the technology has bugs, is not more user friendly, and is apparently buggy in don't instances but the technology makes the vehicle safer and much more enjoyable. I spend fast to much time in my vehicle to not have a vat amount of technology.

IMO the most important safety item in a vehicle is the operator. Hands on the wheel, eyes constantly keeping track of surroundings.
I do think ABS brakes were a big plus though. Just being curious how many test them (ABS) by applying your brakes so hard the ABS kicks in and then you steer. It's a weird feeling but one has to trust the system.

I see several users complain about the screen being dark. Mine is bright and vibrant in all lighting conditions. Are you able to capture a picture that shows how dim it appears? Might be difficult since the camera doesn't really represent our eyes that well.
I attached a worse case condition angled pic on a very dusty screen while in direct sunlight and a typical sunny day with the sunshade open pic.

We've discussed this in a number of threads. In general, I'd love to see all the screens brighter than they are, but we've been able to determine that - in certain lighting conditions - the center screen does not return to full brightness after you've shifted into Reverse and the reversing-view pictograph on the center screen goes away when you shift back into Drive.

When that happens, if you go to the Settings > Display > Touchscreen offset brightness menu, and you press the "+" button, the screen display will visibly brighten back to its maximum brightness even though it also displays a message that the screen is already at its maximum brightness. It's obviously a bug and is on our bug list.

Strange...my screens are always plenty bright. I have never touched the settings for it, no need to. Not saying this to rub anyone's nose in it lol...just sharing that I don't seem to have that "bug".

I haven't noticed an issue with dimness or glare since we bought it. I do see fingerprints, though. Boxwave has a film for the Nautilus I think I'll try. It's supposed to offer protection against fingerprints, glare, and scratches, of course.

BoxWave Screen Protector Compatible with Lincoln 2024 Nautilus Display (11.1 in) - ClearTouch Anti-Glare (2-Pack), Anti-Fingerprint Matte Film Skin

They told me they're supposed to be offering one for the 48" screen as well, but he was going to check with engineering on that.

I have never seen that happen with mine. No change in brightness and i reverse out of my garage every morning. In fact those photos were both taken after reversing out of the garage on 2 separate days.

yeah it may not be effecting all vehicles for whatever reason.

Timely topic. The dark screen. I have never had an issue with a dark screen until today. Powered on and screen was much darker Fiddled with the bright control next to headlamp either way up or down, no changes. Went into display settings and hit the + to see if the offset function did anything. It did and back to normal. After a stop, it was still good on power up. I went into display settings and the offset was back to O and if you hit plus nothing happened - at max message, It started when I got in car, backed out of car port so Dad could get in easier. It seemed ok backing out then but when I restarted again for the drive, it was dim and impossible to see with sunglasses on.

I consider mine acceptably bright meaning it could be brighter.

For me touch sensitivity (lack of any at times) is more of an issue.

That’s tempting….wondering how it will impact the sensitivity of the touchscreen….

Today, I confirmed that the instrument panel brightness buttons controls both the 48 in and the touch display. If the overall setting is less than max (seems like 4 levels), then you can brighten the touch display using the menu display touch offset function -4 to +4 depending on the overall brightness, That is, if main setting is at dimmest setting you have 4 increments up for touch. If you increase to 4 then increase overall, then you can watch the offset brightness decrement with it up push.

In my case, some event dimmed the display to minimum and I compensated but after a restart the max brightness (where I keep it) was restored so the offset was back at 0.

Did you try increasing the cabin brightness setting on the left hand side of the driver controls? I believe cabin brightness is linked to the the touch screen brightness.

Yes. I was adjusting using the buttons on both sides of headlamps control (down on L, up on R) and watched the offset touch display menu on the center display. The settings available on touch display offset depends on the settings on the instrument panel buttons (also affects touch display).

I thought I read somewhere the vehicle can change the display brightness automatically based upon certain situations (maybe night or day) and this is what is not working correcly at times (changes to dim).

When I pulled into the car port I saw a message that the display had been automatically dimmed today. Have not noticed that before.

I recently purchased a 2024 Lincoln Nautilis the dealer told me I was the first one in the state of Florida to take possession of the car. Within a few days they called me back to update the software for no particular reason and then within a week of that my battery went dead. I took it in for service, and it went dead again, I took it in for service another time and it continued to drain after they replaced it with a brand new battery now they’re trying to load software to monitor what’s happening to the car and the car won’t accept the software they’re trying to download into my new vehicle my car is only six weeks old I haven’t been able to drive it for three weeks. Has anybody else been having similar software and battery issues?
yes we have had the battery quit 3 times, the last time it was a brand new battery installed by the dealer. I would love to hear from anybody else that has had this problem and what the fix is

In other threads some members have decided to put a battery tender on their vehicle?? I looked a bit in the owners manual and didn't see that covered as a necessary procedure to keep one's vehicle functioning properly.

Just make sure you get a copy of the repair order each and every time your vehicle goes into the dealer. Check your states Lemon Law. After the required amount of attempted fixes ask about Ford buying vehicle back.
Maybe in-between a fix will be discovered.
