2024 Nautilus software and battery issues

We had our '25 in for body work (weather damage, branch strike).

Two days ago I saw the alert for sleep.

Today we went in, supposed to be done. Turns out they missed one thing but it gave me a chance to check battery state. It was showing 11.85V, 21% SOC.

I let the shop know they really need to put it on a charger (probably had the driver door open for an extended time working on it).

As this is the collision center for our local Lincoln dealer I'll share the data with their Service department when I bring it to standard Service (normal SW stuff). 11.85V is pretty low to let it drain to.

I had one in the shop for 6 weeks. They worked on it for about a week, but had to wait for a part. After 14 days it went into the Remote Features Disabled low power mode. I told them at that time to charge the battery. It sat in that same spot until the part came in a couple of weeks later. I know the 14 days is a timed event, but if be curious how low it went and if it still started.

This is why they have booster packs/chargers in all shops. No one cares if your battery depletes to 1.1V. Much easier to let the battery go dead then to worry about putting it on the charger & having to keep an eye on it! Even if it goes dead, if they don't need power, they will just work on the vehicle as is until they need to juice it up.
This happens all the time to vehicles in shops for extended periods of time. No biggie, they just grab the booster pack, start her up, and leave it running an hour or two if needed!
I whole heartly agree with you, this should not be, but this is the way it is in the industry...whether or not it is a new vehicle sitting on the lot, or one in for repair.
You have to expect they are not going to be as pro active about your battery SOC as you are!

Several days ago our 2024 Nautilus did a software update on its own. Today on way home radio did not work. After lunch all good then when we got to where we were going and I was getting out so wife could go do her errands and the 3 screens went blank and a few seconds later all came back. Wife said no more issues upon returning from errands.

I always reboot after any OTA. After my OTA update in June, the easy entry exit setting changed.

Exactly. I have learned, as well, that after I see a software update install over the air, that it works best if I do a reboot as soon as possible. By Reboot, I mean press and hold the volume button for 10 seconds and release. These updates don't always seem to be fully baked until that is done. You also need to look and see if your settings for mirror auto-fold, rear passenger alerts, and brake coach retained your preferred setting. Mine seem to get reset to the opposite after most updates.

I had not driven my Nauti in 9 days so attached the noco 5. It took less than 1.5 hrs to reach blinking green so must have been at decent charge. I also checked charge on my GOOLOO jumper and Led light. The GOOLOO still reported 100%.

I got a Deep Sleep message this morning, still waiting for the collision center to be done working on ours :)

What's the hold up? You mentioned when you went to pick it up, they had to correct something. Adjustment? Parts? Paint?

When they pulled the dent on the flare in the driver's door (near the bottom, where it curves out to an edge), they missed (or made, when using their dent tools) a couple inch linear dent right near it.

I suspect "made" is likely the correct word, as their front-end lead body estimation guy sounds like they weren't going to try for a supplemental on the insurance claim (they would if it really was original damage).

My local dealer happens to be listed as a Lincoln collision center. The place doing the work is that group (the body shop part of Driver's Village that does the Lincoln body work).

They also managed to add a smudge to the headliner in the cargo area, when they put the box with the extra rain deflector parts in it (only needed to replace the piece over the driver's door - it protected the window from being damaged). We know the headliner was pristine, as selling dealer actually did a good job cleaning that several weeks earlier (they had smudged it originally when putting the unwanted trailer hitch box in the cargo area).

My wife has a fine eye for detail, not a happy camper.

Supposedly they'll be done tomorrow. I received a pair of alerts related to airbags and BSM at 17:45, REALLY hope they didn't manage to cause more damage 😀

Once this is done I still need to connect with the local dealer actual Service department to work the Maps voice volume issue (my VIN has a TAC case opened) and see if I have one of the other TSB items that will let local dealer do some firmware updates on warranty dollars.

Oh wow! What a hassle, hoping it all works out!
The airbag alerts could possibly have been triggered by low bat. voltage, hopefully that is the case! I can't imagine they would have had to mess with anything air bag related.
Again, hoping all goes well & you are (happily) back on the road tomorrow!

I'm also hoping it's low battery, reasonably likely, though annoying.

Continuing the saga ...
We went in at 3pm for pickup.
-Missed one dent on the roof (clearly part of the original damage)
-Cats and dogs black trim scuffs on the driver's side need correction
-They managed to put a couple scratches on the driver's window that were not there in a 4 August photo, when we dropped it off. Replacement window already ordered.

First item is a valid adjustment on the claim. The others are all being covered by the collision shop, their messups.

This time it was the actual manager of the collision repair facility who saw us, he clearly understood this was not acceptable performance. They are not only the Lincoln collision group, but do several other high end brands as well as some mainstream ones.

Staying on topic, 12V battery showed 11.9V, clearly not up to snuff given I had told them multiple times that it's a hybrid, that the 12V needs a charger when they're doing things with doors open for hours. Back on 4 August, original drop-off, one of the workers had said they would "try" to get it on a charger, but didn't have enough of them; Manager called BS on his own people, specifically said he had bought multiple additional chargers just for these activities.

Manager said they had put it on a charger, got it to 85% SOC. I showed him the voltage chart for the last 3 days, obvious that they didn't really do a significant charge cycle.

I let the Manager know that I had reached out by email, documenting that the vehicle was down at 11.85V last week, and that seeing it only at 11.9V today was not a good sign, requested that he have his smart electrical person do a battery check, and pull in Lincoln Service if needed (the main Lincoln sales/service place is in the same building).

They're supposed to have everything done (including the window) by middle of next week. The manager said he'll personally monitor this cycle, understands it has been a Keystone Kops evolution (obviously not thrilled at such a SNAFU on what should have been a pretty simple body repair on a new premium vehicle).

I use a great independent (Indy) father & son body shop. I see a lot of Tesla's, Audi's and BMW's scattered across the lot, as well as the economical brands as well.
They are the owner/managers, they do not do any repairs themselves. They employ a highly skilled and motivated workforce. They are the only two that will check in a vehicle with the owner (or representative) present. Same at pickup, inspection first before release!

They do a total walk around in your presence upon dropping off the vehicle. They have a crayon stick and clearly mark off the areas of repair on the vehicle. During the walkaround, they note all other defects, glass, trim, paint, dents, scratches etc. They discuss with you options of what they can do for you concerning other defects found on the walkaround.
Point is, from the get go, you can see the care they take in the walk around to be sure the scope of work is covered & understood by all parties involved. They mark the areas for repair right on the vehicle itself, using the yellow crayon-like marker forementioned. All other defects are noted, so no surprises afterwards!

I have used them on several occasions for my wife's BMW repairs over the course of the last few years. She loves these guys, they treat her right, they respect women customers. In fact, on the occasions I have been at the shop, I have spoke to a few women customers doing business with them, they have said the same. I travel from the Bronx to Westchester to do business with them. I would travel over 100 miles if needed!

My Lincoln dealer in NJ has a Lincoln certified body shop. It was one of the plusses they mentioned when looking to purchase from them. They may be great, I cannot say, but will not entertain them at all when my Nautilus needs repair.

Had an interesting event yesterday. Was pulling in to store center stack screen started blink like it was gonna go out. Fixed itself before I turned engine off, numerous alerts came on, got an alert on my phone.
Went in store came out everything was in metric, drove home parked turned off engine, came back 5 minutes later woke vehicle up all back to normal.

Gotta love all the modern day electronics.

A reputable source says there is an issue Ford is tracking about fast battery drain when the rear hatch is open.
Hmm. I'm coming from a Subaru Ascent to a Nautilus. The Subaru had that problem in its first few years of production.

That is an old post that you quoted! Much has happened since spring 2024.

I cannot imagine taking the Nautilus out in the country for camping due to the risk of battery drain unless I had a jumper.
I detailed my Nautilus yesterday and put it back on the noco it took over 3 hrs to get to green. The keypad was always illuminating (remember when it did not work half the time) and locking the car in the process (mirrors even got out of sync) and then there is all the door opening/closing to wash door jambs, dry around hatch (water catcher), and then proceed to vacuum, clean interior, etc. (nice run on sentence!) I will do glass today.

That sucks your still having drain issues. I was out of the country for a month and still had no issues with the battery when I got back. I have had the radio blasting without enabling accessory mode for over an hour while detailing and it always starts. I checked voltage a few times out of curiosity and its been anywhere from 12.3-12.5 after a few days sitting unlocked with me occasionally opening the hatch or door to get things.
