2024 Hybrid Nautilus (Engine Problems)

My response?

There's others on here who had the same misfortune as you, injector failure on the drive home. I'm not sure what circumstances created this issue exactly, but I'm short this part cannot handle the higher pressure of the hybrid system.

Did someone forget to swap stock when the line switched over from ICE to hybrid? Did the person who sourced the parts not notice the difference in specs? Did the supplier make the mistake? The fact that same engine in both versions uses different parts open the door to someone making a mistake.

Does this mistake make the car a piece of crap? Does it change the styling, the ride, the tech, the quietness, or fine balance of performance vs MPG?

Lincoln responded as quickly as could be expected. After deliveries started in Match, the issue was noted, investigated, and new parts were made available to dealers within 3 months.

What did your dealer do about it? Nothing, it seems. They sold you a vehicle that should have had the fix applied. Sure, there's a chance it wouldn't fail. Some drove thousands of miles without an issue. But regardless, your dealer either knew or should have known a fix was available to them at no cost. But they sold you a ticking bomb. And now weeks afterward, are still fiddling with the car. My guess is there was engine damage but the dealer is either unable to adequately diagnose the extent of the failure or is somehow reluctant to repair it.

TLDR; Several people in here have been in your circumstances and the dealer acted quickly and appropriately. Your dealer hasn't.
It wasn't the wrong part number. The actual injector engineering part number was not changed. The new service part number has a -CC revision to indicate parts are orderable and post CSP. They may/will include the original engineering part number since no actual revision was made. They isolated manufacturing lots and weeded out the suspected defective runs. I still think it was a parts storage/handing issue at the engine assembly plant that allowed contamination to enter the injector lines/body on a few units. My 2nd guess was a manufacturing process change was incorrectly made, resulting in reliability issues.

I ordered a 2024 Nautilus in Feb annd picked it up in August. I absolutely loved the car until this same issue happened to me. My service engine light came on and the it started shaking and sounded awful. I had it towed to my local dealership for repairs. I was told there were already 8 recalls needing fixed and one was the injectors. My car was fixed in a week. I had it back 2 weeks it’s messed up again. This time the service engine light came on blinking and the car would lose acceleration power and was very sluggish. have it back at the dealership with no answers yet and it’s been 3 days. I have already filed a buy back claim. I do not trust this car and I paid $70,000 for it to already be in service department for 11 days. This started at around 1,800 miles. Mine is the hybrid reserve III. It’s beautiful and has great potential but I think they release them too soon and didn’t work out the bugs first. I’ll keep this updated as to what happens. I hope Lincoln service is as good as people say it is. This will be the true test to see if they make this right.

The problem is that you have a poor dealer. There were several CSMs (recall like) that came out in May and June including the defective fuel injectors. Your dealer should never have let you take possession of that vehicle without performing them especially the fuel injector replacement.

My special order came in wrong so they found one exactly like I ordered from another dealership. you are correct in this should have been taken care of prior to possession but my dealer is saying the other dealership should have done it before releasing it to them. It’s a blame game in my opinion.

There was a mailing for the injectors so that should not have been a surprise. Did you get a letter.
No, The I did not get anything except a recall letter last week about the window motor not auto rolling up after it was already repaired when they fixed the other 7 recalls. My dealership should have never released the vehicle to me without these recalls being fixed. My salesman told me this.

You have to be careful with any vehicle that has had an injector failure. The engine may have damage as well as the tips of the injectors come loose. The real question is, why did your dealer sell you a vehicle without applying the available fixes for the known issues — particularly the injector fix? Lincoln pays for those fixes, not the dealer.

Virtually every one of those 8 'recalls' (actually Customer Satisfaction Program issues) were pre-August. There's actually only been one recall (a window pinch issue) just this past month. I feel some dealers don't feel obligated to apply these fixes unless there's a complaint. But some, like the injectors, should certainly be done before the vehicle is sold.

That wasn't really my point. But yeah, okay. I didn't know where the issue came from — I was just surmising. I guess that raises a question. Who builds the engine? Is that from a Changan Ford owned plant?

I talked to my salesman and basically it has turned into a blame game at this point. My special order came in wrong so they found me another vehicle from a dealership about an hour away. They picked up this vehicle, brought it back and I picked it up two days later. My salesman says the original dealership that got the vehicle should have fixed everything before it ever left their dealership so they just assumed it was handled. This does not make sense because the minute they put the Vin number into the system it should’ve showed this was not handled. I’m concerned that driving It has definitely cause more damage than if it would’ve just been fixed prior to me picking it up. I was told most of the recalls were just programming issues.. I hate this because I do absolutely love the car, but I just think this is going to be an ongoing issue down the line.

Just tell them you want another car with ALL recalls performed or you will institute a buy back.

that’s baloney. The dealer that took your money is responsible. Blaming the original dealer is a cop out. Your current dealer sounds shady

It all a mess for sure…

My salesman told me to start the claim on the buy back process so I did that today.
Some who have been through this process have stated that Lincoln offered them an incentive to stay with a Lincoln vehicle, either another Nautilus or another model. If that incentive is compelling to you, and you truly liked the vehicle, you may want to use that to your advantage.

They must feel no news (visits) is good news. I have no idea if they do this for other brand lines.

I went through the buyback process. There were 2 options, cash to keep the repaired vehicle or a buy back (full refund). I don not believe they will swap out your car. I chose the full buy back and purchased another vehicle.

I agree.. the dealer is trying to blame Ford even though the dealer was the one who failed to perform the CPSs prior to sale. There has only been 1 recall to date on the nautilus and its for excessive power window force.
Ill bet your recent problem is related to the work performed after the injector failure.... Either they replaced your injectors with injectors pre-CSP or they screwed something else up. Ford told dealers not to sell vehicles unless they performed the CSPs first.

I got the callback from Lincoln concierge yesterday and they have denied my buyback claim. They said to move forward I would have to file it with the Better Business Bureau. As of now, we are on day 19 of my car being in for service. They ordered a second injector because the one they replaced it with originally was faulty as well. The part should be in next week so hopefully they can fix it for good this time. I will post updates if anything changes… I just don’t trust this car at this point because I really am concerned my engine is damaged.

Curious what you ended up purchasing if you don't mind sharing? I am on day 45 and I feel like they have reached their end replacing parts (injectors, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel rail, etc).
My Black Label Case Manager resubmitted my 2nd Fair Value Assessment or whatever it is called, so we shall see. I already have my lawyer on standby so I hope this nightmare comes to an end this coming week!! I was so committed to the Nautilus and I did enjoy the 1 whole day of experiencing the sweet ride, but this entire experience has really messed me up!! Sorry for venting.

Tony
