2018 passenger side rear seat entertainment screen not turning on

The driver side monitor controls the passenger side.

The passenger side is just a slave monitor.

That should soft reset
Did anybody figure out the fix for this issue?
The rear passenger entertainment screen doesn’t turn on with its buttons and only works with the app. I actually had the screen replaced by the dealer (which took a few months to come in) but 1 week later I still have the same problem with the rear entertainment screen. Miscommunication? Fuse?
It’s so frustrating

I haven’t found a solution yet, however the dealer will be replacing the monitor in the next few weeks. I’ll keep you all updated.

Any update? Did your problem resolve? I've been having the same issues and I'm thinking of just tearing the system off and replacing it with something better.

The monitor attached to the driver's seat is the main unit containing the brains of the operation. The passenger side monitor is controlled by the driver side. Apparently there is a cable that runs between the two which is a bit short or otherwise over time becomes pinched or bound up and get strained which starts as an intermittent problem then progresses. Though you will get power at the right monitor (buttons light up white) it will not otherwise power-up. My dealer worked with VOXX Automotive (supplier company) support center in Florida who directed the dealer on how to (inspect/affect repair) to (inspect/reroute/adjust) that cable so it's not so taut, etc.

I have not since (re)experienced a problem with the right side monitor. (Of note I am referring to my 2018 Navigator...I expect earlier models are not applicable to this solution).

Thank you. To follow up and provide feedback to other folks encountering this problem in the future, there is definitely something to this. I followed an earlier suggestion to bring the drivers seat all the way down and forward and the monitor finally turned on. It does seem a cable or connector is getting pulled to where it disconnects the cross-talk signal between monitors enough to cause problems. The power cable doesn't seem affected because the passenger monitor power button is lit up although power is probably not routed the same through the driver seat.

Have your dealer service advisor call VOXX Automotive tech support: (866) 869-7888...they'll send him the diagnosis/repair documentation they sent my dealership.

In the meantime, attached is the documentation I had received from VOXX tech support and forwarded on to my service advisor.

For what it’s worth for any new folks with this same issue, I followed what you mentioned and makes sense it’s a intermittent cable issue. I reached under the drivers seat and pulled out the Christmas tree cable holder (not the wire plug just what holds the wires) and the passenger monitor immediately started working. Not sure if this is a permanent fix but it was a 10 second fix and noticed immediate changes.

Easy Solution!!!
Under the Hood unplug the car battery terminals. Wait for 5 Minutes and plug terminals back in.
Start Vehicle and Bingo!. Entertainment system does a reset and is back to normal

The other day, the passenger side screen for the rear seat entertainment won't turn on. The kids were watching a something and the screen froze and became unresponsive. Main screen still functions correctly. We turned the vehicle off and on to try to reset it. Now the screen won't come on. The power button on the side is illuminated, but pushing it does nothing. I tried replacing the fuse, but still the same. Any ideas?

There's a pink connector under the driver's seat That's not secured/broke. It's one wire connector. It's a coaxel cable. It is possible to separate the shielded wire from the power wire inside the coax cable. I cut the connector out connected the 2 shielded wires and the 2 power wires inside the coax cable and the screens started working fine for me. Is 2018 Lincoln Navigator.

To tag along to this thread... i have a 2018 Expedition Max (I know this is the Lincoln forums) with factory RSE installed. Currently no power to the driver headrest unit (blue power light on top is dark, no power, button does nothing even if i hold). The passenger unit has blue power button lit up but won't show anything on the display, holding the button used to make the touch buttons blink red (whatever that means??), but I haven't even been able to get that recently. I have checked the power connections below each seat by plugging and unplugging. I have disconnected battery for 5 minutes for a reset. I have checked the fuses below each seat on the wiring harness. I tried to remove the screen to check the power connection at the actual monitor but could not get the locking pins to release so I couldn't tilt the monitor out any further. I found the entire wiring harness diagram somewhere in this forum so I think I understand the system, but I am banging my head against a wall, any thoughts? This is the EVO-5 DVD system. Would really love to get the monitor to hinge down the full 90 degrees, but I can't seem to get the pins to release, any tricks for this?

Thank you for this info! The dealer just replaced my harness and I am assuming this was the issue. If it happens again, I will use this to repair instead of the long wait from the dealer.

Hi- I just purchased a 2020 Navigator Reserve, it’s out of warranty. Same issue, passenger screen won’t turn on, power button is lit up. I did a master reset on the SYNC system when I bought it and it started working (could be a coincidence). Then I updated to the newest SYNC version and the screen won’t turn on again. I tried lowering the seat and moving it forward but the screen still didn’t turn on.

Another related issue- the audio on the wireless headphones have a lot of static. I saw someone mention this on the Expedition forums but haven’t seen a solution or much out there. This RES is a mess. I’m hoping that replacing the wire harness fixes both issues. I may try calling VOXX before I take it to the dealer. Please let me know if there are any other suggestions. I appreciate all the info found here, thank you!

Under the passenger seat is a FAKRA plug style cable that runs power/video from the main screen (driver side) to the passenger side monitor. This cable was the problem with my passenger side monitor not playing or having issues when it did play. Search the cable and you will find picture of what you need to look for. After having both monitors and the main cable within the seats replaced and still no luck, I replaced this cable and have been trouble free for over a year.

What color is this FARKA plug, and also what color are the wires going into it? Thank you!

How much did it cost for repair?
