Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Navigator

Have had our 2025 black label for a month. Discovered you discontinued the park assist last year and open on approach does not work. These are two features that should be on a high-end car and work properly. Shades for rear seats would be nice to have. Top price should have top features.

I second this comment about ride quality and cabin quietness. I bought top of the line navigator (Black label L) costing over $130K . Driven very low 10K miles in last 2.5 years and the interior rattles and squeaks and makes all sorts of noises like a 10 year old vehicle. This is not expected of a flagship top of the line model and is very disappointing. Sending it to the dealer today in hopes they will be able to adjust / tighten body panels and trims in the cabin to make the rattling noises go away. As comparison my 7 year old 7 passenger Audi Q7 is still very quiet and has no rattles inside the cabin. I hope this post is being read and taken seriously.

Ride quality of the 2025 Navi feels like a skateboard down the road. This “luxury” SUV sports luxury pricing but has terrible noise, vibration and harshness coming through the cabin and steering wheel on every single road.

It’s very unnerving to watch the steering wheel when the Blue Cruise is on… seeing how bad it shakes, makes you realize just how much you have to try and control it in day to day driving.

My wife’s 24 Escalade has a much better ride thanks to the air suspension and my 2019 Explorer rode much better as well.

Ford engineers obviously either didn’t benchmark it before rolling it out, or don’t have any of them using one as a daily driver … or worse yet, didn’t care when they put out a 6 figure luxury SUV that has such a horrible and busy ride 🤔

Always bought Ford and enjoyed them … however, after buying this skateboard on wheels, I will be looking at other brands next time. Brand loyalty is one thing, but buying something just because it’s a Ford (Lincoln) won’t happen again without shopping around.

Display RPMs on all drive modes

I also feel you should be able to set a default drive mode

Like my 2020 Navigator, LOVE my wife’s 2022 BMW X5, wonder why FOMOCO engineers don’t buy a few and reverse engineer, my biggest issue (after having the transmission rebuilt under extended warranty for the exact problem and losing the use of the vehicle for a month) is the hesitation between 20-50mph, just so annoying! The X5 seems like the drive line never slips, just power during speed up, still there when you let off the gas and no stumbles when braking. The 48 volt mild hybrid is totally confidence inspiring as well, never any hesitation between stopped and accelerating. The 26mpg average @ 70-80mph on the highway is pretty amazing to. And it’s substantially a US made car, we pass the ever expanding plant every time we visit my wife’s family. If only BMW made an X8, need the room for longer trips and people at times.

That’s exactly one of my main gripes with the new Navi. Ford engineers apparently do not think their poop stinks or, they knowingly make an inferior product and hope they get enough brand loyalty to keep their jobs.
I fell for it this time buying my first Lincoln… which will be my last.
The new Navi is an overpriced, needlessly over-teched vehicle that rides as bad as an F250 for a heckuva lot more $$.

Sharing an update to my previous post about build quality issues. The dealer had my vehicle for 1 month and thankfully gave me a loaner. Now its back and they said that its a known issue of the cab body flexing causing vehicle noise . They said they had to stiffen up the joints to reduce flexing that was causing rattling. This is not what you would expect to hear for a flagship model from Ford !!!! . Thankfully what ever they did has “mostly” stoppered the body noise issues I reported . Also in this forum I see people post their thoughts on what can Lincoln do better so this is coming from a Lincoln owner experience of 2 years , and also experiencing the most recent 2025 model ( had a loaner) -

1. The large pillar to pillar screen is mostly a fancy gimmic . I didn’t not see the features and layout of such a large screen to be useful of functional.
2. Please bring back some physical buttons. It is such a pain to do everything on a touchscreen. Most painful of all adjusting side view mirrors. It was so painful on the touch panels on the steering wheel to try adjus side view mirrors !!! Adjusting mirror while you are driving is nearly impossible.
3. The 30 way adjustable seats is also a fancy gimmick and does not feel comfortable after driving for extended periods. It needs more cushioning .
4. Lincoln should also look at the rear tail light styling . It looks so ugly than previous designs .
5. Seriously consider bringing in hybrid drive train that ford is planning for the new F150 that is replacing the outgoing lightning . (Electric with the range extender motor giving 500+ miles of range)
6. Adaptive air ride suspension (must have for vehicle of this class)
7. 24 in wheels as standard
8. Blue cruse should be life time not a subscription
9. Seriously look at pricing options to bring it to a lower and attractive price point .

To be honest , I am not going to be a returning customer unless I see some serious design improvements and quality improvements and wont recommend this vehicle to any one unless these improvements happen.

You are spot on with your observations!

I have talked people out of wasting their $$ on the Navi and my wife’s company.

Ford struck out big time on the ‘25 Navi … I can’t even dump mine at this point because people have figured out what a POS it really is for $120k +

I agree with a lot of what you wrote. I do think the my25 navigator rides better than qx80 and lx600, but compared to the Escalade and gw, they are superior with their air suspensions, and at this price point, is a must have. Weird ford decided against it atleast for the navigator, but decided to add 24in wheels? I haven't driven a 25 long enough to tell, but the 4th gen build quality and frame work is egregious. Im overall pleased with the ride on our 22 (which is weird that 25 is being lambasted for its ride), but my god it feels like the body is going to shake off the frame, and it still feels like the frame is smacking the body over big impacts. I dont mind the interior and prefer the mirrors and pedal adjustment on the steering wheel, but the screen is way to low and it does needlessly adapt controls into that screen. I thought the expys interface was better done.

While I don't live in an area with many BlueCruise miles.. when I do try to use it, I watch the steering wheel bounce/shake and fight to keep the car on the road.
I really have NO idea what Ford was thinking... or apparently, they were NOT.

I can't believe how many used '25 Navis are for sell within 250 miles of my location.. especially when comparing to a used '25 Escalade.
There are 32 used Navis for sale vs 18 Escalades. The fact there are so many, is really hurting my chance at dumping mine and getting back within $20k of what I paid for it. :(

5. Ford is moving away from battery powered vehicles.

Government incentives are/have expired in the 4th quarter 2025
Consumer demand has dropped even with the incentives
Charging infrastructure is not completely there for support
The vehicles in general are more expensive to buy and maintain over the long run than traditional gas powered vehicles. Which means lower income groups will tend to not make this purchase.
The market got too competitive too fast.

Does that mean the battery car sales in some manner is over? I don't think so. But this powertrain will continue to be a niche market. In the 3rd quarter 2025, electric vehicles had 10% market share. The most to date. However, there was a small rush to buy before the incentives went away. It will be interesting to see what the sales are moving forward.

Ford Motor Company has made it very clear they do not build vehicles for every market. Ford is more of a niche car company that builds mass produced vehicles in certain markets. To drive the competition, Ford has further reduced the choices (options) of many vehicles. This builds efficiency in vehicle production.
This has shown up in increased sales for current models versus previous years. And profits that have been growing since COVID.
However, as this thread has pointed out, Ford has made some blunders. These will be addressed.

Ford spent a pile of money gearing up for automotive battery production. Much of that is being repurposed to other industries.

The automotive market is so consistent in change, sometimes it is difficult to follow. Especially for any company that has to spend billions to bring a product to market. Market shifts, and another billion or six is needed.

I guess they didnt change that much, because bc v1.0 also bounces between the lines. I started to gently nudge the wheel to the middle and hold it there for a second and the bc finds the line better. I was actually impressed with it though, hrs on with no interruptions.

Gotta be careful with the new gms. Im starting to see 25 and newer gm truck stranding their owners. And it seems no engine is safe.

GM v8s are an issue and my wife’s 2024 has an ongoing recall for whenever GM has figured out how to stop them from melting down.

However, I would still rather have the plush ride, 750k more SuperCruise road miles available to it, a HUD, night vision and no dumb thumb steering wheel controls… and take my chance knowing GM will replace the engine when it fails

The dumb over teched steering wheel controls, electronic vents, no HUD which it needs cuz you have to look down for the cruise control, and the horrible ride, leaves me no choice but to dump mine and get an Escalade.

You can fix an engine, but you can’t really fix the dumb steering wheel krap, horrible ride and the lack of a HUD or night vision.
