2024 Nautilus software and battery issues

This whole thread is making my head hurt. I'm a businessman, not an engineer or a mechanic, so much of what you guys have posted goes right over my head. I have never tested my battery...in fact I have never popped my hood I don't think. Pushing 5,000 miles and I get in my hybrid every time and find myself worried it might not start. But so far, fingers and toes crossed, it always has. So I suppose my question is...do you guys think it is likely just a matter of time until everyone's (with a 2024 Nautilus) battery dies?

I understand the angst. If you got a “good one” you got a “good one”, so enjoy your good luck…lol.

Keep in mind many here post because they have issues and there is no firm count of how many have no problems at all. In the end all batteries die, and expect in ANY car to replace your battery every 4 years.

Enjoy your car and don’t over think it. Worst comes to worse, if you have to call Lincoln Roadside Assistance, take comfort in knowing it works well and someone will be at your car within an hour.
I agree with @bbf2530, but regardless, that H7 battery has to be at least 12" long. H4 batteries are 8-10". I would check the cavity first before buying anything that large.
I was referring to the gas cars. I get it…Sometimes this forum gets confusing when it’s not clear if we are talking about the hybrid or gas cars, since parts can be different.

Never thought you were. I think if an issue is unique to either type it is useful information.

Wow, so sorry this went 180 degrees away from the INTENDED and FAILED ATTEMPT at HUMOR. 🖖
When done right, these type of forums are about a bunch of people jawing about stuff they love. I think this forum does it right. I took nothing personal.

At this point, many issues can be attributed to software but when the software update is released, there may be more clarity on the characteristics of some issues (hardware, software or both). I assume Lincoln would defer some issues to next release but they may not acknowledge them.

I had an event I cannot explain yesterday, I had parked the Hybrid Nauti in the garage (left locked) and then fairly soon went back to Nauti to power up to check an Android Auto app not working. When I opened the door (had fob on me), there was some repeating sound (maybe horn but did not really sound like it) and the hazard lights started flashing. I simply started the vehicle and it stopped.

I assume it was some random security alert. I did search the manual and noticed in a post crash alert the hazards flash and horn beeps but supposedly air bags deployed.

Hi angore. This is probably not the issue, but thought I’d ask: You stated you left the vehicle locked in your garage. Were the windows up?
You opened the vehicle using the exterior door handle, correct?
The reason I ask is…if you left a window down, but for some reason reached inside and used the interior door handle to open the door, the perimeter alarm system will go off. Even with a fob in your possession.

You don’t mention doing that, so I assume that is not the issue. But again, thought better safe than sorry.

If not that, then it sounds like a possible glitch/gremlin situation.

I’m sure others will jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

Windows were up. Opened driver door.

Is it possible the vehicle was bumped by someone while parked?

Since the VDM software update over a week ago, I have begun getting this Alarm System popup on the top screen when I shut the car off. Also, the indicator lamp that the parking brake is applied, which I did not do. Too many software gremlins.
Also, for the second time, the car would not start this morning. I did not call for roadside assistance. I used my new Schumacher SC1281's "30A Boost" mode to quickly charge the battery. I will leave it in the 'Charged/Maintaining' mode until Monday when I will drive to the Lincoln dealer and tell them to keep the car until they fix the problem or install a new battery. I am sure the battery is destroyed after repeated low discharge states in the first 6 months of ownership. It drops from 100% to 25% overnight and will not retain a high charged state.

There is a setting to change that will suppress this popup. Something changed the setting.

Yes, i just turned it off.

In case this non mechanical clod should have to jump start my hybrid, I looked under the hood and lifted up the red plastic thing. Is the positive bolt the one pointing forward, or the one a little further back and pointing straight up and down? Both were under the red box.

No laughing at me allowed.

I’m not sure about the hybrid, but on our gas one, the red cap covers the positive terminal and if you look at the negative terminal….There should be a thick cable coming off it to a post about 8 inches away. That is what you clamp to. it’s a safety feature to keep any potential spark away from the battery. Clamp the red first!

After a 2 hr trip with a stop at the recycling center and unloading, my hybrid battery voltage was 12.22v. That seems low after mostly 2 hrs at 55 to 65 speed. Mpg was near 38.

Here are the suggested clamp points for the gas version, from the OM.

On the hybrid, the B in the diagram points to a tall threaded post. I use when connecting the noco. A red cover needs to be removed to access the positive terminal.

Heard that 24P08B, the CMR software charging fix is now available at dealers.

I had it updated yesterday. Still waiting for next 3Q OTA. If 3 months after last, it would be around September 10.

Anyone had their BCM reprogrammed? Did the trick on my Navigator last year when I was sure I needed a new battery. Factory battery running strong almost 2 1/2 years later from new.

But hey, must just be bad batteries.
My 2016 F150 has that BCM system and it actually prevents the battery from being fully charged. You can take the cable out of the clamp and by pass it. My wife has a 2024 Nautilus gas, (750 miles on it now) and both vehicles sat about 18 days recently while we travelled. When I returned I measured the battery voltage on both vehicles. The Nautilus was 12.49V before we left and 12.08 when we returned, but fortunately it started. The F150 was at 12.24V but I did not measure it before we left. From what I have read here so far, I expect a battery failure or a no start condition in the next year.
