2024 delivery schedule

here is another one. File is too large. Bnfs- network-map.pdf. I will post on Facebook.

This is a good intermodal map. It highlights all the major hubs and which rail line operates it. Your vehicle will pinball off those hubs. Again, there's a more detailed one, but it's a big PDF.

Note how huge Chicago is. The rail yards there go forever. I spent way too many days crawling around that dirty greasy place.

My Lexus NX was built in Japan. They floated it to Jacksonville, FL and offloaded it there. No clue as to the route the RoRo took from Japan to Florida but it took a full 30 days to get there. Then it was 2 days by truck from Jacksonville to Melbourne straight down I-95.
I guess Ford figures it's cheaper to float them all to Portland and rail them across the US and then truck them the last mile.

I guess there are no "as the crow flies" routes from Portland to Florida. Guess my Nautilus will be taking the scenic route and doing a LOT of transfers.

There's plenty of eastern ports as well. The ship will go through the Panama Canal. My kid's Toyota came in to Houston.

The price of gas has forced pretty much all shippers to resort to rail. They'll use a truck to pick up cargo from a Walmart distribution center. They use an intermodal truck that's basically a box sitting on a chassis. The truck drives to the nearest rail hub, the box is craned off the chassis onto a flatbed, and it travels cross country to another hub, where it's lifted back onto a chassis and delivered by truck.

It's a much more complex operation, and has delicate logistics. But the cost saving is worth it for an industry that runs on paper thin margins.

I figure that it will come through DFW to Jacksonville then to Tampa. I have seen vehicle rail cars there at the rail yard in Tampa. Then it's just a few miles from there to my dealership.

The rail yard at berth 601 is BNSF.

Why were you crawling around Chicago? 😜

there are some really good documentaries on ro-ro ships. Basically it goes through the Panama Canal up through the Caribbean. A lot of people don’t know this because it’s a very remote part of the country, but Brunswick, GA is one of not the top auto/machinery import ports. A lot of shippers will stop in Jacksonville on the way. Southeast Toyota Distributors has had a long standing relationship with JAX.

Some of this is just choosing a shipper and they have particular routes they service. If you lookup ToyoFuji it has Jacksonville and Newark as its shipping route for the east coast.

We need one of our dealers to give us a rail car number. Probably all of us in FL are one the same train.

According to my dealer, once my vehicle ships it will arrive in Portland. From Portland, it will transfer via rail to Detroit. Once in Detroit, it will be loaded onto a truck for shipment to Columbus, Ohio.

Currently, my vehicle is scheduled to be built the week of 2/26. I'm expecting on this timing I will receive it somewhere around mid to late April.

You’re making my map look bad now…😄

I’m nearer to Chicago. Since it’s a rail hub I wonder if cars headed in that direction get there sooner or take even longer?

Okay. My dealer advised me yesterday that my Build is scheduled for 2/26 as well. But looks like you'll have yours while mine is still heading south.

That will be cutting it close. I'm eligible for X Plan on 4/16. So if your calculations are correct, I should make it.

Still wondering how we, a dealer in south Florida got some and dealers elsewhere still have yet to receive any? Kinda strange.

Thought for sure somebody’s ‘order’ would have come in.

@swindler I haven't seen anything about the GC boat docking last night. Did it ever make it to the docks to unload? I crashed around 10:30PM and I thought everyone said the tug was heading out there. Just curious.

It is docked. Guessing Monday they will start unloading. Agogley will know for sure.

Why will I know? 😂😂

There is a pilot call to leave the berth at 1800 tomorrow. So they’ll have to unload before then.
