The boss literally hates the Aviator so I am running out of time. It's a very comfortable car (seats/air suspension/etc.) but the tech is horrendous. PAAK worked fine on both of our phones, but it would never return her to the proper seating position. I noticed that my profile disappeared recently even though everything else worked fine. I created my profile and it would disappear every time I started the car. Lastly, the screen would randomly go black and/or the navigation would not load. She had enough so I performed a hard reset which resulted in a black screen for 15-20 minutes until it finally started up. I was able to create a profile and it would save as expected. But, I noticed it would not save my profile to my phone AND key. I believe this was due to PAAK configuration being removed. I deleted the profile and went through the process and EVERY single time I set up PAAK, the app would error w/ pairing failure. I spent 45 minutes with Lincoln Support via phone and performed the following:

Hard reset
Rebooted iPhone
Remove Aviator from bluetooth
Removed phones from Aviator bluetooth list
Reinstalled the Lincoln app
Updated to latest 3.4.3188 version

Same pairing error over and over. Lincoln Support said the latest version would fix all of this. It didn't.

Two suggestions to try…

There is an SSM 50845 for PAAK issues. See attached. You might point your dealer to this.

Also, the APIM module may be bad or need reflashing or replacement. Search for “APIM“ on the forums here to find more posts about it. @DomDoobie has posted a lot on this. Seems like it comes up a lot. It’s starting to happen in my Nautilus as well (Black screen for a few seconds with maps and voice recognition not loading.)

Yep. I posted this in another thread somewhere. This SSM was applied to my 2022 Nav, and my PAAK has worked better in the 2 weeks since than it ever did in my 2020 or current Navigator. I haven't carried a fob in 2+ weeks and haven't needed it.

I did have to spend some time on the phone with the app support people to get it all going again, but it works now.

Thanks for the help. The module would need to be a service call and not something for a mobile unit, correct?
Hmmm, sorry, I don't have the answer to that. Not sure of the mobile service capability.

If it is needed, they would probably have to order the module part. Once it arrives, I doubt it would be just a swap out of the old module. But either way, there would probably be some programming involved which are likely beyond the capabilities of a mobile service truck. I would plan on a trip to the dealer. Two trips really if you include the initial diagnosis.

The RFA module is basically a reinitialization. Flash is what my service department called it. I don't think* the APIM has anything to do with PAAK. It is the RFA module, which is basically the antenna that communicates with the device. The RFA should not need to be replaced unless the flashing does not solve the issues.

*Worth what you paid for it lol

support said latest sync update would fix it but I can’t find release notes anywhere
Not sure what you mean. Sync as in the Sync system in the car? Or the Lincoln Way app?

and please post the details about your vehicle.

Right. I only mentioned the APIM module because he said the screen was blanking. That symptom seems to be caused by a FUBARed APIM.

I just recently got my 2023 Aviator and PAAK is set up but I doubt I'll ever use if. I find the keyfob to be much handier since I always have it on me. Also, should something go amiss, I can use the key blade to access the locked vehicle. You can't do that with a phone.

Funny. I always have my phone on me so PAAK works perfectly for me. But you old timers do you, lol!

I do most of the time as well, but like I mentioned, if for some reason it won't work for you and the Securicode keyless pad also won't work, how are you going to open the door if it's locked and you don't have the keyfob? With the fob you don't have to open the Lincoln Way app and go through the unlock and start procedures. You simply approach, get in and startup.

That is kind of a doomsday scenario of nothing working. With PAAK you don't have to open the app either. That is the point. It acts exactly as a fob.

Lol, I get it, change = bad to a lot of people, and I guess you are in that group, which is fine. But what if space aliens come down and disable your fob with their disrupter beams? What will you do then? 🤷‍♂️

Like the PAAK not working, the odds are slim, but not zero… :p

Also, if the car is dead to the point you need the physical key to make entry, the fob won't start the vehicle. It's dead.

Yes, that is correct. But the bottom line still is that if for some reason the phone or app isn't working, you're not going any where unless you have the fob.

Not true. If you have programmed the door code and backup passcodes, you will have no issue.
