Hi nitynity. There is a break-in period, as previously described by several of us.
In a half joking manner, I would point out that if a Service Advisor had said to me that there is
"not necessarily" a break-in period, I would not exactly have great confidence in how sure he/she was about that answer.
It is not a rigorous break-in period. For the first 500-1,000 miles, drive easy, do not tow, do not drive at the same speed for long periods of time.
As a good rule, if taking long highway trips in the first 1,000 miles, vary speed by at least 10 mph every 10 minutes or so. Especially try to avoid over-revving and/of lugging the engine.
And again, contrary to what some believe, there is no special "break-in oil" used in our Lincoln vehicles. But that has been the case for many years.
