Is $4,000 below MSRP a good price for a 2023 Aviator?

I bought with X-Plan pricing. I've read that it's 0.4% under invoice. With that reference, my car's MSRP calculates to 4.7% above invoice ($2780). Mine is a reserve with few options, MSRP at time of order was $62370 (X-Plan $59,352.55).


Obviously the profit margins are less today (they didn't have all the international competition back then). You do the math on your $4K divided by your MSRP. If it's on a reserve, even one well equipped you're doing well based on my single experience. My X-Plan - just under invoice - was a $2780 savings.

I think in this climate, $4k below is a good deal. That's about what we got in April 2021. We had Z-plan years ago but not now. We did just order an F150 for $6k under MSRP with 0%60mo financing.
 
I saved almost 10k on my 2022 Aviator using my A-Plan discount here in Canada :)
I'm getting only 7k off on my Z-plan. (same as A plan) on my 2023
 
I just returned home from the Dealership and ordering a 2023 Aviator for $4,000 under MSRP. I did not want to lose out on this offer by waiting.
Hope you got that on paper. Very good deal in today's market and without a discount plan. I'd just make sure the MSRP he told you is correct by asking for the dealer invoice.

Hi gang. I have posted this previously, but it is the kind of information that is always valuable, at least for Plan buyers.

This is how X-Plan pricing is calculated for Ford and Lincoln vehicles:

FordDealer Invoice - (0.4% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee* (see sample invoice)
LincolnDealer Invoice + (0.6% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee* (see sample invoice)

*The Administration Fee is $275. Then, the Dealer can also add a "Documentation Fee" of up to $100.

As you can see, the starting point for X-Plan pricing of Lincoln vehicles is actually Dealer Invoice + 0.6% of Dealer Invoice.

The starting point for Ford vehicles is Dealer Invoice - 0.4% of Dealer Invoice.

Things apparently changed somewhere in the recent past. It's always been A and Z plan was 2% below invoice (dealer cost), with FOMO paying dealers several hundred dollars afterwards, otherwise dealers wouldnt make a dime on the sale, and X plan 2% above invoice, with only 4 % diff between A-Z and X plans. The relatively new "*The Administration Fee is $275. Then, the Dealer can also add a "Documentation Fee" of up to $100." is also something that dealer introduced to pad their pockets and raise profits. My Dealer does not have those charges.

Hi Pete. The rules changed some years ago. And Dealers still get a "Spiff" check from Ford for these sales.

The Administration Fee and $100 Documentation fee were not added by Dealers. Ford makes and administers the rules, and those rule changes were administered by Ford for these plans. What an individual Dealer decides to do concerning those fees is up to them. For example, a Dealer does not have to charge a Documentation Fee if they do not wish to. They can if they wish. But they can not charge more than $100.
And you are correct that under the old rules, no Documention fee was allowed at all, and there was no "Administration Fee".

Al of that being said...Yes, AXZD-Plan pricing structures are a little higher than they used to be, let's say 8-10 years ago.

Normally, in the past and present, AZD pricing is essentially unbeatable.
On the other hand, while X-Plan pricing can be very good for those who prefer not to negotiate/haggle (if the Dealer accepts it), it is normally possible to negotiate lower than X-Plan, if a buyer is knowledgeable and persistent.

Of course, *normal* is thrown out the window in these current shortage times, so exploring all avenues is always the best course of action.
