What are your likes and dislikes concerning the Lincoln Corsair?

Dealer should not be charging over MSRP. Go somewhere else. My dealer was great and does not charge over MSRP. I got a hefty discount using the Lincoln X-Plan. I ordered my Corsair GT on Dec 2nd and got it on 1/26/22. Vary fast but it all depends on a lot of factors like how large your dealer is, how much they have invested, how many locations do they have and at what volume, what model you ordered and what options. It's complicated these days because of the improving chip shortage but they are prioritizing customer orders over dealer orders. It probably helps if you order higher end options. I believe they are prioritizing orders that match other orders so they can deliver together. I have seen others get their cars in 2 months while others 6 months. I would say the average is 3-4 months. Not a long time to wait. Americans are not used to ordering their cars but Europeans always order their cars and the system is set up to work that way. Ford is moving in that direction from what I read and heard from my dealer. Ordering will be the norm. That is the norm if you buy a Tesla. It makes more sense from the manufacturing point of view. It makes sense from customer point of view if you think about it. With the order process, you get what you want exactly.

What I like:
1. Art of the design and the looks are awesome
2. It's hellacious quiet
3. It's saving lots of money with PHEV...rarely having to fill the gas tank and paying a dollar a day for filling the battery is damn cheap
4. Awesome audio
5. 24 way seats are incredible
6. The headlights and tail lights are super nice
7. The color selection I chose
8. Comfortable and quite elegant vehicle....not many other cars were competitive with the GT and high end options
9. Perfect size vehicle and ride

Dislikes:
1. The Lincoln supplied charger is pretty skimpy looking and the cable is half the diameter of the ChargePoint Home charger I bought
2. The location of the passenger side fuse box. Really hard to get to. I figured out a way to power my radar detector and car security cameras using the ODBII port. That is the way to do it.
3. Not much else.....this car rocks!

I'm facing a tough decision. My '21 Corsair Reserve was totaled 11/26/21, after I owned it just 7 months. Wife and I were seriously injured, but better than the alternative.. (but this is not the reason for this post)

I really liked my Reserve. ONLY negatives for me:

1) The shift selector buttons. Really bad design from a functional standpoint. It may work from a style standpoint. Acura RDX, and many Hondas have push button shifters that are way better and easier to use.
2) Don't care for, (but got used to) the backwards cruise control buttons. Seems much more logical to push the front versus the back of the buttons.
3) I had the standard seats, but drove the model with the 24 way seats for about 10 days as a loaner while my Corsair was in the dealer waiting on a part. We both found the 24 way seats to be harder than the standard seats, and I believe the only way to get some of the other features I would want, HUD, better headlights, etc., is in a package that includes the 24 way seats. I do like the thigh extensions, however.

I happened across a new '22 Highlander Hybrid Platinum that was going to be available (at MSRP) in a month, while we were recuperating. So I put a deposit on it, and literally, 5 days after I was able to drive again, the car arrived at the Toyota dealer. I took a 20 mile road test, and decided to go for it. It is quiet, as quiet as the Corsair, I can't say. It gets GREAT fuel mileage. I am averaging over 35 mpg city and highway. So, I don't like the Highlander. When I realized this, I tried to buy a left over new 21 Corsair (strange, a left over in this environment, yes?) and they wanted way over MSRP. I also reached out to the Acura dealer I had bought a new '19 RDX from and put a refundable deposit on an incoming '22 RDX Advance. Now it will be arriving in less than 2 weeks.

So the tough decision I mentioned? Do I buy the RDX at MSRP, which will only get 25 MPG average on a good day, or order a '22 Corsair GT and wait, and wait and be unhappy with the Highlander in the meantime? With gas prices climbing....what to do?

1. Is that noise the "whirrr" when its in EV mode? I have more wind noise than anything, but SUVs sit higher, so I chalked it up to that.
Yes, that spaceship "whirrr". Ford must have spent a fortune creating this signature sound for the benefit of my neighbors and their dogs. It's actually louder than the real engine sound from my neighbors' cars, but that's another rant. The sound comes on when you shift out of park, and stays on when you are under 20 mph or so. I think the speaker is under the radiator. Since this is a very specific sound coming from a very specific location, I'm surprised that a more targeted ANC could not be devised to mitigate this noise inside the cabin.

2. Interesting. Is it the same spot on your route or just in general? There are times when ICE fires up in Pure EV mode, but its usually on this LONG hill on I285 here in Atlanta. Its about two miles uphill. Then, it goes back off.
I would say in general. I wouldn't mind it if it's from hard accelerations, but this is much more than that. I think it has more to do with the temperature but I'd love to have more control over it. For example, if the battery is full and I'm only going to a local store, I'd rather use the electric heat than fire up the engine. Of course, the car doesn't know it's only a short trip (although some cars do try to guess based on navigation input and usage pattern), but isn't that what a manual Pure EV mode is for?

3. Softer to the touch or softer to your back? I personally prefer the firmness while seated. I keep the heater on lol.
Softer to the touch and cushier at the bottom. This is obviously very subjective.

4. Dated technology compared to what? What did you come from? I had the Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion, so its just an updated version of the same software. Are you doing an apples to apples comparison of the segment or comparison of a specific vehicle? I have no desire to use PaaK or wireless charging.
Compared to other 2022 cars. I know this is not apples to apples because some newer cars were designed much later than the Corsair. The Corsair's tech is par for 2020, and that's to be expected. I'm sure the 2023 refresh will bring it up to date.

By the way, I forgot about the hatch that traps soapy water. That definitely goes in the dislike pile.

Of course, everyone has their own needs when it comes to new vehicle purchases but I think yours and mine are nearly the same here.

Before buying my '22 Corsair GT I had considered other vehicles...

The Genesis GV70 was my dream car. It still is. It's the best luxury SUV out there. However, one of the cons is that if I wanted HUD (which was essential) I would have to go for the top trim at $64k.

The Acura RDX was another choice. It has a wicked stereo system. However, its infotainment system is just as bad (if not worse) than the Corsair. I test drove the Advanced spec vehicle two months ago and really loved it. I think it costs less than the Corsair and offers comparable luxury in its advanced package.

The problem with both these vehicles? Gas mileage. The Genesis gets 21 MPG. The RDX gets 25 MPG.

Having leased a 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid for the past three years, I was enjoying 40 MPG. There was no way that I was going to get into a gas vehicle that gave me half that mileage in a world where fuel costs are skyrocketing. I don't think we are going to see gas return to under $3 a gallon anytime soon.

So, in my case, gas was a major concern. Now, if you don't drive much, maybe it won't be such a bad thing. However, l can completely relate to your concerns about gas mileage. The Corsair gets even better gas mileage than my hybrid and I am saving an immense amount of money on gas. I used to fill it halfway every week. Now I fill it halfway twice a month.

Personally, if the wait was not too long, I would drive the Highlander and wait for the Corsair.

You could also look at the Lexus NX350h but those are hard to get and from the reviews I read, the ride is not extraordinary.

All comes down to fuel. For me, MPG was the primary force in my decision to go with Corsair.

I can't really give much advice. I don't believe in buying Japanese or German made cars. They attacked our country in WWII and I will never forgive those countries. I won't reward their behavior. Yeah..I hear you..long ago history...yeah but we're still seeing WWII behavior out of Russia today. So, I believe in supporting American manufacturers and American made cars. This is my way of supporting the Ford and GMs of the country. They employ a ton of Americans. Besides, I hate German made cars for the horrible rides they provide (my opinion). I would support Honda as most of their cars are now made in Ohio. If you want to speed up your delivery of a new Lincoln Corsair, I suggest researching who the largest dealers are in the country and then contacting one of them that is closest. They get their cars faster than smaller dealers. I did a quick Google search and saw that Varsity Lincoln in Novi, MI is the largest. My dealer, Ted Britt Lincoln in Chantilly, VA is the 4th largest and I got mine in less than 2 months. Lincoln rewards the largest dealers according to the son of Ted Britt who I know and worked my deal with. Most dealers will pick you up at the airport when you fly in to receive the car. Some will agree to have it driven to you directly. That would be my suggestion.

Good advice. I couldn't find my 2022 Corsair GT locally. Had to travel to a large dealership that had them in stock.

So, yes, searching a 50-100 mile radius for the vehicle you want is recommended.

Only problem is, dealers are gouging vehicles that are in stock and the savings supposedly occur when you preorder.

Thanks for the ideas/support guys. I knew most here would suggest I buy the GT, and look at distant dealers for availability and best pricing*. The Highlander is built here in the US as is the RDX. BUT, I agree, some of the money does go back to the Japanese homeland. Do we all buy "American" cell phones or TVs or computers? I have never owned a German, French, Swedish, Chinese, Yugoslavian, or Russian (heh) car. I had one Korean car, Hyundai that was a disaster.

*I have searched about 500-700 miles from me (Tucson) without finding any available GTs on the ground. A SMALL issue, AZ doesn't have front license plates, so if I was to find a GT in a state that does have front plates, it would likely have the front bracket already installed (ugly).

Other factors?
'23 Corsair will have probably have Sync 4 with wireless AA and Carplay...I know, one can't always wait till the next big update.

I Had a '19 RDX that I liked, and the '22 has the mid cycle updates. It is a nice car.

IF there was a well equipped '22 Corsair GT on the ground, or incoming within a month that I could buy, at MSRP or lower (LOL) I likely would. I would keep adjusting the seats till I was happy with them. ;)

PS. There is only one Lincoln dealer here (2 locations, same dealer/owner) , and another two 100 miles away. Definitely not a big metropolis. LOL

Definitely check sites like Autotrader. Maybe you can find one used certified for $5k under MSRP. Also, is travel an issue? I was gonna FLY to Cali and drive it back. however, my lemon law case was a different beast, so I HAD to order and wait.

2020 Corsair Reserve AWD 2.3L vs my new 2022 GT 2.5L loaded (missing items/complaints from comparison upon immediately driving one after the other back in January 2022 and STILL my compaints 2800 miles in):

WORST: GAS ENGINE NOISE - Missing engine cover - MAJOR annoyance as this when running on gas sounds like shit to be frank, like very LOUD and extra struggling from inside the cabin, embarrassingly so to me!!! Wonder if some firewall and hood sound proofing is missing as well??

2nd WORST: REAR Seat Headrest Adjustment missing - The rear seat headrests no longer fold out of the way of the view.

Still unknown: Maybe additional sound proofing and/or door seal material is missing as well because road and wind noise also seems to be a bit more noticeable.

Steering wheel cover: The fake leather looks way worse than the 2020 did, looks like very cheap flat plastic (I think even the seats look a little more fake but going to try shining them up when the weather breaks more so I can stand to be outside with the doors open).

Small annoyance: The digital temperature read out on dash above lever is now missing.

The noise level of the engine is also bothering me more and more with each ride.

Going to be stuck with this vehicle and that noise for many years to come

Me too! I am so peeved. I just hung up with logging such a complaint with Lincoln directly too. UGH. It is literally embarrassing to me. I paid BIG $$ to special order with all options and now it sounds like a cheap struggling brand. Debating paying myself for sound proofing on the hood etc.

Keep us updated on anything that you do. Hoping it's not going to ultimately cost hundreds more to better soundproof this vehicle. Had I known it was this loud I would never have bought it. I test drove last year's reserve trim before settling on the GT

My 21 Standard engine sounds fine. My 2020 standard the engine noise was annoying. Also the 20 transmission was a lot more jerky around 15-20 mph in stop and go. This car isn’t as bad.

However there a few things that got downgraded:

Back seat cup holder
Hard touch plastic behind from seat (20 was soft touch)
Removal of the temp gauge
Head rear are different
No net in lift-gate area
No Digital temp readout next to the temp levers

After owning my 2021 Corsair GT for 6 months and putting 4500 miles on it here are my assessments:

PRO:

1. This car is fun to drive. The eCVT and electric drive give excellent smooth acceleration. On the highway, the 2.5L Atkinson cycle ICE gives plenty of throttle.
2. This car is comfortable to drive and ride in, including long trips. The massaging seats add to the experience. The seats are comfortable and the ride is smooth and quiet.
3. This car is beautiful. I get a LOT of compliments on it when I'm out and about. The interior is beautiful as well.
4. The Revel audio system is superior to just about any other manufacturer's audio system. SYNC, with all its idiosyncrasies, is still superior to most infotainment systems out there. How about adding the Revel Ultima system featured on other Lincoln vehicles?
5. Even though the Corsair is a compact CUV, there is plenty of passenger space. The cargo space is a little bit tight but I tend to carry too much stuff in the cargo area for those "just in case" moments.
6. The gas mileage is excellent. The combination of all electric mode and hybrid driving once the charge is depleted give excellent gas mileage in almost any condition.
7. The drive modes work as described. They aren't meaningless settings.
8. Lincoln Roadside Assistance is excellent. They were concerned for my safety first. They had a tow truck at my home less than an hour after I called them. A shout out to Tillis, who I spoke with at Lincoln Roadside Assistance a couple of times. She was awesome!
9. Bob-Boyd Lincoln in Columbus, Ohio is an excellent dealership. From the sales people to the service people, everyone is polite, respectful, friendly and responsive. Kelly Culbertson was my sales representative. He went above and beyond coming in on his day off so I could test drive a Corsair GT before mine was delivered. He also took a great deal of time once my vehicle was delivered going over all the features as well as helping me set up the PAAK.

CON:

1. The water that comes out of every nook and cranny after going through the carwash is a huge nuisance. I have a monthly fee I pay for unlimited washes. I spend a great amount of time using lint free cloths to dry my vehicle after it is washed. The water coming out of the liftgate and the small trim pieces at the rear quarterpanel areas is frustrating. It literally comes out for hours. I have used the vacuum at the carwash in an attempt to suck out the excess water and soap. It doesn't help. I have considered purchasing a portable air compressor to use to blow out the excess water and soap. I shouldn't have to go to these extremes to keep my vehicle looking good. PLEASE FIX THIS ON FUTURE MODELS!!!!! My dealer says everyone complains about this one thing. Damn it!!!
2. The funky "horns" on the lid to the center console are frustrating. I open the console only to hit one of the horns with my elbow causing the lid to close. This is a dumb design by someone who obviously didn't test it out prior to production approval.
3. The paint, while beautiful, chips and scratches way too easily. As someone who spent over 35 years in automotive plants as a supplier of OEM paint it really upsets me a luxury vehicle has such poor paint quality.
4. The lack of an engine cover is a huge oversight. The roar of the engine at low speeds is upsetting when the ICE initially kicks in. It isn't so noticeable on the highway. However, the inability to purchase an engine cover as a build option or in the aftermarket from the dealer is unacceptable. This is some dumb decontenting from bean counters.
5. I wish the panoramic sunroof were a lot more panoramic. It needs to open a LOT further.
6. It takes too long to charge even on a Level 2 charger. This has to be improved on future models. Taking 3.5 hours on a Level 2 charger to fully charge the HV batteries is just too long. I know this is a hardware/software issue but it needs to be addressed, especially since this vehicle will only travel ~28 miles in all EV mode.
7. The Preserve driving mode preserves battery charge but does so at a huge expense to gas mileage. A 25%+ reduction in gas mileage to preserve HV battery charge is unacceptable. It would be nice if the drive mode functions were easier to determine by popping up a small description on the driver's screen instead of mostly meaningless graphics, Preserve (gas mileage or EV power?). Also, it would be nice if the drive mode stayed as set until the driver changes it instead of defaulting to Normal each time the vehicle is stopped and powered down.
8. The 12V battery is not of very good quality. Early failure seems to be a common theme. Mine failed at 5 months. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer because it couldn't even be jump-started. Also, there is no way to put the eCVT into neutral towing mode if the 12V battery has failed. There was no power to the dash to access the settings on the touch screen to get into neutral towing mode.

All things considered, I love this vehicle. I hope Lincoln takes note of both the positives and negatives to make improvements on future models.

WOW!! I totally love your words. Im just grateful I've not had the battery failure. I totally agree about the panoramic sunroof... but I kinda get it. The Pano on the MKZ went halfway down the back window. lol.
I totally like the idea of charging in an hour. Almost like getting gas. I just wish the Battery were bigger. Like 50-60 miles would be ideal. Im not sure where their data said 14 miles one way was average or adequate lol.

I have not taken mine to the auto car wash yet. However, I noticed there is indeed a gap, rather two slots in the trim on BOTH sides. I've not read of anyone sealing that themselves as a possible solution. Just thought about the fact that if it was that slot, then my trunk would stay wet. Its been raining like hell here lately. lol

Does anyone know if the 2022 has fixed CON points 1 and 4, the water leaking forever and putting an engine cover? Does anyone know if either of these issues is different for the Reserve?

The power adjustable steering column linked to memory setting was a selling point! My husband and I are back and forth changing the position of the steering column. Because I have medical problems with my thumbs and wrists, using the ubiquitous lever to manually adjust the steering column is painful. In our search for a new vehicle, we discovered that the power option is rare. The top trim lines for the RDX, Envision, and Highlander do not have it. Even the Standard trim of the Corsair does not have it. We had to get the Reserve trim for that feature even though we would have preferred the 18" wheels on the Standard. Now if only the rear view mirror position was linked to memory (which it is in the Buick Envision), it would be perfect.
