2022 Navigator

When they asked your name and you said, "Golfpro", well, there you go. They realized if you finish 20th this week, you can pay cash for the vehicle.

I'm an airline pilot, so they knew I was a risk lol.

Nice! I used to work for the airlines, ground crew. JL, DL, LH Cargo. Now I’m on the 3PL side and oversee the air cargo division of our company. Also one of the reasons I bought a Lincoln Aviator. haha

Sounds like I should expect a similar email from what I have seen here and elsewhere.

Got an updated email last night that my estimated week has been bumped back a week to 3/7/22. 🤪 I knew it wasn’t going to go off wo a hitch, especially after reading the article about Ford cutting production at the KY plant (among several others) because of continued chip issues, but was still a little bummed to see it.
Same here. Got the email this morning. Bumped back to the week of 2/28 from 2/21. Hopefully this is the only bump and not an ongoing problem.

Anyone else looking at back up vehicles just in case? The Kentucky plant is shut down from my understanding. I’m not even scheduled yet so it’ll likely be a very long time until I get the Gator.

Yeah I don't "need" a new vehicle but im impatient. I already felt waiting 5 months for delivery sight unseen was crazy.

Where did you see the KY plant is shut down? I guess supply and demand takes over. If lincoln cant supply demand will go else where, if another company can meet demand. I.e., not likely.

First I heard the KY plant was closed/closing. I know some of the others had.

Well, seeing as how all manufacturers are waiting for and having the same chip shortage issues, I'm not sure how switching will improve the wait.

I suppose I should expect an email soon. If you guys are all getting bumped before me, I can’t imagine that my date holds.

But they want to run my credit. I was like, I’m not even financing with Ford/Lincoln.

I was really weird and I almost had a huge argument with both the sales and GM.
Yup definitely odd in my experience anyway.

The deposit is usually simply to ensure you don't place 10 orders with 10 dealers, at least that's why BMW & Audi dealers do it. In many states the deposit must be refunded if you refuse delivery of the vehicle, though some states it's not and even if it is some dealers will write it up as a "Partial Payment" - if that's the case then it's not refundable.

So maybe this is state thing ... because in a state that has refundable deposits by law it kinda doesn't make any sense to run someone's credit when it's so easy for them to walk away ... or maybe that's why dealers want to lock it in ... boy that'd make me wonder how crappy of a deal I was getting if the dealer was trying to jump the gun on validating financing ...

Personally, that's not how I do business; the dealer has to do their part in actually procuring the vehicle - once they can prove they delivered, then I'll check it out and confirm I want to buy it and, if so, then we can talk financing if there's some mutual benefit or I'll give them a check.

I guess the other thing is, I've only bought cars via email for the last 15 years - I never meet my salesperson until I pick up the car - so maybe those dealers / sales people have different practices ?

ha, another airline alum here - worked in engineering and was a faithful member of the ATA for ~5 years (I know it has a different name now though). Had a LOT of boondoggles! Also was part of a fair number of shenanigans (the ole dildo-wrapped-in-tin-foil-stuffed-into-that-guy's-go-bag was popular).

absolutely loved my time in airlines and made some life-long friends - if the pay had been better and the mergers weren't so soul-crushing in my neck of the woods I'd still be there!

Thanks Grussgott

I just suck it up since they gave me the xPlan pricing and the GM is very nice actually.

Working for the airlines is fun. Did it for close to 8 years. But yeah, the pay was not good for my position so I got to work somewhere else. Great friends made for life for sure!

I fly for Frontier. Today we announced we are buying Spirit. Should be interesting. I may finally get to move to Texas and fly out of DFW.

Nice! I heard. Congrats! I tried to move to Dallas in 09 but didn’t work out. I’m still in Chicago for the time being. LoL

I'm in the Chicago area because my wife is from here but we met in Texas. This gives us the opportunity because commuting is not something I ever wanted to do.
