Went with black RTV, it's probably still curing as I just finished it yesterday evening but it wasn't necessarily too difficult. Just hoping that it seals up tight. If I have to redo it, so be it. Wish I could've removed to hood for better access but alas, no help was available. Gonna run a pitcher of water over it tomorrow to test it out.

rtv work fine if you put pleanty and let it dry !!

but if you need to remove that plastic in the future it will be difficult!!

the butyl wil let you remove it ..

This stuff works great. Scrape out the old foam and adhesive. Clean plastic channel with alcohol. Stick this in the channel with the seam toward the engine bay (so water sheds out and down). When you bolt the panel back in, it compresses nicely. Fits perfectly, works great, easily removable/reusable, no mess.

Have a 2006 town car and when I'm driving it and it rains water shows up on the floor of the right rear floor. Cannot see anywhere that it is coming in. Has anyone had this problem and know the solution? Had a 1/2 inch of standing water on last trip and the bottom plug is tight. Thanks

it comes from under the hood, passenger side cowl. take off the cowl cover, there is a plastic box with a screen on top. the gasket under that degrades, hence the leak. pull box, clean off old gasket on fire wall and plastic box, used black gasket material, apply to both parts generously, reinstall. leak fixed. there are videos on you tube about this, affect all town cars, 1997 to 2011

I used weatherized foam similar to what was mentioned earlier. Been holding for...(checks earlier post date)...about the last 4 months now.

If your driver side is leaking water, take the wiper transmission cowl off, clean the bottom of it, and stick this weather-stripping to it in a continuous run like the photo shows. No more driver side leak.

This is awesome! It's been at least a few weeks since this same question has been asked for the millionth time, so I was feeling a little empty inside! God forbid they ever make this a sticky. If they did that with this question, and the air springs, and the A/C vents, you could shut this forum down.

So what's wrong with the air conditioner vents? I had a pretty hard time figuring out the cause of the water under the driver's feet in my Town Car. And besides, there should be a reason to communicate with like-minded fans of these outstanding cars.
