Water Leak on Floor - 2006 Town Car

My dad's '06 has the infamous leak at the hood cable grommet. I can't seem to find the grommet for sale by itself. I can only find it as part of a whole new cable assembly. Anyone have a part number or is a new cable the only way to get a new grommet?

If you can remove the grommet you can take it down to your local auto parts stores and ask them for one similar. They should carry universal grommets

Sorry guys another water leak question.. I have a major leak that seems to be effecting the rear driver's side floor. Water is pooling up right behind the seat track. I have re sealed the foam gasket on the passenger side, all three drains on the cowling are clear, sunroof drains cleared, hood grommet has been sealed.... I'm out of ideas and don't really want to sell it, never seen winter, and only has 93,000km. Frustrating.

Pull up the carpet and look at the plugs under there and see if they’re still there. Also check your weather stripping around the doors and double check that hood grommet seal job.
 
What did you use to seal up the fresh air box gasket area?
 
Run water around the fresh air box and check if water is getting into the box opening. I used rubber seal instead of the silicone.
 
This video is very well done. He uses Permetex instead of silicone. Someone in the comments put that it's not the best idea to use the gasket making stuff instead of silicone in case you ever have to replace the blower motor.

 
As was said in the very first post from like...2014, fixing this problem that virtually everyone experiences as well are replacing HVAC actuators should be stickied and a LOT of recurrent questions could be addressed in one section. I had this issue on my '07 Designer with 38,500 miles when I bought it in '23. Removed passenger seat, rear seat, lifted the carpeting and employed the wet/dry shop vac and heaters to dry everything out over a couple of days. I tried the RTV sealant solution but was dissatisfied with the results. It was messy and I felt "hit and miss", plus it would be one royal pain in the dupa to remove. Seems like black sealant dukes it out with foam type gaskets with recommendation for both, but I settled on the foam gasket solution. Why? It was simple, consistent, and very easy to do with virtually only one seam that if you're careful, really turns out no seam at all. A sharp razor blade and very careful measurements yielded virtually NO seam. I used 1/2" X 1/2" seal that I got at either HD or Lowes. Picture enclosed:

One strip of the seal around, replaced everything making sure to account for ALL screws and Bob's your uncle. No leaks noted and if I ever suspect again, how hard it is to replace the gasket material? And note that it was WATERPROOF! Good enough for me.

It appears to be coming in from the seam on the car. I can't see any visible flow of water other than directly on that epoxy/sealant whatever that tan stuff is. Anyone want to take a shot in the dark as to where this is coming in from :)

it is not coming from the seems

it is dripping down on the side panel where the parking brake pedal mounted come from above and collects by that seems .

you can see water running down on that metal panel ...

I have same issue still has no answer for fix this nightmare

IT IS NOT COMING FROM THE CABLE GOES OVER THE DOOR BECAUSE THERE IS A GAP IT IS COMING FROM ABOVE AND THE HOOD CABLE HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE SIDE SO IT IS NOT THE HOOD CABLE EITHER

Another one bites the dust. I looked for about 5 minutes and couldn't find the fix for a passenger side water leak. Can someone slap a link in here for me? I would really appreciate it. Passenger side, front and back, soaked.

air went opening under the hood under window cowl need to reseal that plastic do a search on youtube you will see easy

Butyl Sealant Tape – Butyl Rubber Sealant,Promote Sealing Purpose- autty Tape for Automotive (Car, RV, Marine) for Installing Car Part, Windows, Doors and Windshield etc​


from ebay or amazon and use that instead of silicone sealent under the plastic part needs to be sealed off

if you apply the rubber all around under the plastic thick than press it down and secure the screws after that you can test it out by pour some water around the outside the rim of that plastic cover and if you see water gets inside that metal scren covering the inlet than you have to re do it and make sure it seales.

hopes help let us know how worked out

i used a small fan inside the car flipped up the carpet and run the fan inside the car untill carpet and all dry
takes a few days
