My Lincoln
2020 Corsair Reserve
Hi everyone, I recently purchased a used 2020 reserve and will hit 50k miles in the next month. I am considering a plan from zeigler that extends me to 8 years or 100k miles. It’s roughly $1800 with a $200 deductible.
Has anyone else purchased a warranty from Ziegler and if so, what are your thoughts? Apologize if this is commonly asked.

I've purchased the Ford extended warranty from Ziegler a couple times. I never had to use it, but they refunded the prorated equity without any hassle when I sold the vehicles. I have one now on my 22 Raptor, and will probably buy one for my 23 Corsair just before 12 months of ownership. The price goes up a bit after 12 months on a new vehicle.

If it's a Ford extended warranty then there are many folks online who can legit sell them. I've used the local dealers and online sites. Went with the best price. Never had any issues on using or getting the prorated refund.

If the warranty is a third party one, run away. Not worth the cost or hassle to use.

Even if the warranty costs me 4k (mine goes to 125k or 150k miles from 25k miles) but it covers EVERYTHING except the battery, then yes, I think its worth it. Think of the alternator, starter, suspension. The stuff that will go down at 110k lol

Hi TheApe. I have purchased my LincolnProtect ESP Plans from Ziegler several times. I did so after extensive shopping online and at my local Lincoln and Ford dealerships.

I would happily and often recommend them.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I purchased through Zeigler. 8 years/125k miles plus interior and exterior lights for $2380. I’ve had weird luck with my automobiles in the past so this warranty gives me peace of mind. Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

Am I correct to think that purchasing a plan near the end of my new car regular 4yr/50,000 mi warranty is the right thing to do?

The closer to the end date of the existing warranty increases the price. The lowest is when you get it within the first year and that can depend on which dealer you get it from. Some online dealers are lower than the one you bought it from.
Regardless when you get it, if you do, don't wait until the current one expires. That looks to trigger a vehicle inspection from the dealer, required by Ford, that can run hundreds of dollars in addition to the warranty package.

I bought mine online from one of the recommended sites on here. Much cheaper than dealership and auto updated onto my lincoln way app after purchase. With all the issues I see on these forums I'm glad I have it.

Hi littleneil. Not necessarily. It really depends on individual circumstances.

Some disadvantages to waiting past the first 12 months of new vehicle ownership are:
1- There is a $100 fee added for LincolnProtect and FordProtect ESP Plan purchases after that first 12 months.
2- Prices will not decrease with time. If anything, they will increase to keep pace with inflation etc. So purchasing sooner may save you money.

On the other hand, an advantage to waiting would be:
1- If for one reason or another you do not keep the vehicle after the New Vehicle Warranty period, you have not paid for an unnecessary ESP plan.
Yes, you can get a prorated refund if you decide to sell the vehicle. However, it is prorated back to the vehicle “In-Service date” (the day the vehicle was purchased), not the end of the 4year/50,000mile New Vehicle Warranty or the day you purchased the contract etc.

And yes, if we sell our vehicle privately (instead of trading it in, since a dealer could not care less if there is an ESP plan on it), we can use the ESP Plan as a selling point. However, we still will not be able to recoup the cost.

Anyway, those are a few of the pros-cons of waiting or not waiting. So it really depends on what each of us feels is best for our own individual circumstances.

And if you do decide to purchase a LincolnProtect Plan, purchase from one of the online sellers who always offer the lowest prices (Zeigler Automotive and/or Flood Ford), unless your Dealer will match their prices. There is no advantage to paying more at your Lincoln Dealership.

I am sure others will jump in with more advice and recommendations, so let us know how you make out and good luck. 🍻

Is it worth it to shop various Lincoln dealers for the same Lincoln Protect Plan - or do they all have the same pricing?

Hi litttleneil. Yes, it never hurts, and will help you be confident you made the correct choice.
Dealers set their own pricing, so I always recommend also shopping around at your local Lincoln and even Ford Dealers for the best price as compared to those two online sellers.

Just be sure when you shop that you get apples to apples pricing estimates for the same plan level (I would recommend the top level "PremiumCare" contract), time/mileage limits, deductible, choices of optional coverage (your preferences of LED lighting coverage, Key coverage, Rental/Extended Rental coverage etc.) etc. etc.

In addition, you can find more online sellers for price comparisons, by Googling "Lincoln ESP Plan sellers". Just skip past the first bunch of "Sponsored" links.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

As mentioned earlier, "Zeigler Automotive and/or Flood Ford" are likely going to be the cheapest you'll find. I've bought from Zeigler in the past. Their website says Ford has announced there will be a price increase April 4, 2024. I'm glad I looked because I need to get one before then! www.zeiglerfordesp.com

Good luck!

Lincoln Protect has its own website. I went there this morning, inputted some asked for information, and pricing, plans, and options were returned. I'm wondering who determines those prices?

Hi littleneil. Yes, that is the LincolnProtect corporate website, which will offer the plans at MSRP/Retail. Therefore, the pricing is high. So do not purchase from there.

Go to the online seller websites which are widely recommended in this thread and others.

Zeigler Automotive Group: Lincoln Protect Extended Service Plans (ESP) - Lincoln Extended Warranty Cost | Zeigler Ford ESP
Flood Ford- Ford Protect Sales - Geniune Ford ESP extended warranty

And then you can check with your local Lincoln/Ford Dealers and other online sellers if you wish. But simply put, many of us here have previosuly performed the price shopping work for you. ;)

Once you are familiar with the process, it is relatively simple. Determine which plan, time/mileage limits, dedictible, optional coverages etc. you would like. Then get estimates from as many sources as you are comfortable with. Then purchase from the least expensive one.

Other than price, there is no other factor to consider once you have determined the plan and coverage you would like. There is no advantage to purchasing from your Dealer, another Dealer, or one online seller or another.
Purchasing from your Lincoln Dealership, or another local Dealership will not get you shorter appointment waits, better service on your service visits or any other preferential treatment.

So go with the lowest price from a reputable seller, such as those recommended here.

All great info thnx. I never thought about this until now. Our '23 Corsair has less than 6000 miles on it - and I get this letter in the mail yesterday from "Lincoln Protect" marketing.

Apparently if you have the car registered in California, you can't purchase the warranty from either Zeigler or Flood..... I used Flood 10 years ago and it was available then but some new laws must have been passed since then :(

When I checked, FloodFord didn't work for me either saying Florida law prohibited out of state contracts!

Hi littleneil. Sorry, did not realize you were located in Florida.

Yes, amongst other things, Florida has some odd laws which preclude selling ESP and similar plans out of state/at discounted prices/online etc., among other limitations.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I left my Lincoln protect cancel. Glad I was able to figure out the way to get installments. do NOT use the payinfull discount code. You lose the ability to do installments.
