They finally admitted the prior fixes did not always work. New targer 3Q25. The B suffix rotors are still the first fix for pre-Jun 24 builds.

Excellent summary of the new SSM 👍

Since we can't see the video available to the service techs to hear the sound, I'd like to determine if everyone affected has the same sound, or if there are different sounds. If you have this issue, is it a fraction of a second like a quick burp (like on the loaner nautilus hybrid I have), or a 1 second trombone-ish sounding blat which is what my vehicle sounds like before and after the rotor replacement(s)?

I like how you describe the various noises. Mine makes both noises similar to how you describe them. And they both come and go. Unlike the description in the SSM, I've never really noticed the sound goes away after the brakes warm up. The noises come and go over time. But they stick for a while (like days or a week or more) and sounds during entire drives. Then after a while (days or a week) the sound might go away for a week or two. But then one of the sounds eventually comes back. I've had this since I bought the car in March 2024. But I assume what I am hearing is the same issue as described in the SSM. My dealer told me earlier this month that I should see my replacement parts "soon". I guess we will see if that provides any changes or not or if it does, how long it will last. Annoying.

My occasional sounds are more metal to metal contact. I keep thinking it is just corrosion. Now I baby my brakes since I watch the brake coach so not really pushing them but when I have they do not make noise.

Thanks for the reply. I too have also noticed it is not related to brake temperature, though my vehicle is the long blaaattt trombone sound and hasn't gone away except for one day after they replaced the rotors the first time. If anything, it is happening through more of the braking cycle now. I thought it was interesting that the loaner nautilus has the burp sound instead and it started right at the 300 mile odometer mark like mine did. Their build dates are two months apart, right in the date range mentioned in the bulletin.

I had my rotors replaced in October '24 and now have the exact issue they described for those vehicles that still have noise after having the rotors replaced. I have also noticed the noise is worse when it is raining and takes longer to go away (maybe because the brakes do not heat up as fast when it is wet).

Will have to take it in again when they get the fix out...

I wonder how many people confuse this with the sound the parking brake makes when applied or released.

Yep, that's definitely one of the noises my brakes make off and on. Comes and goes.

My hybrid brake is silent and from what I can tell the parking brake is part of eCVT. This also handles regen braking.

Well I guess it's my time in the barrel. Had the brake noise for the first time today. It was a clunkish noise lasting for maybe a second and then it was gone. Definitely from the front end while I was using the brake at a slow speed in a parking lot. It was not the trombone sound that I heard in the video. Nothing to do right now. I may never hear it again. If it starts to be a regular thing, I will report it.

I had my first scheduled maintenance yesterday and they replaced both front rotors (which they had a supply in stock). The first couple of trips around the parking garage demonstrated the brakes feel more linear/progressive at low speeds and less grabby. Since I was experiencing the dolphin noise about once a month or so, we'll see if that goes away.

They also ordered the rear seatbelt clips (the invoice listed dealer cost as 2 cents each in case you were wondering).

Is this problem on both hybrids and non-hybrids? If not, which one has the problem?

Any vehicle can present this issue, but it does seem to vary. Some describe much worse noises than we've heard. Supposedly it was addressed in production on 6/14/24, as the SSM says. While it was better, some still have issues. We have the 1st remedy rotors for early buyers and we're okay with it (for now).

I have a Hybrid built July 26th 2024. I have a brake noise, at first roll/brake use. It is NOT the trombone sound as in the video referenced in a post above. My sound is much more like a grunt. It has happened 3 - 4 times now and so does not seem to be a one-off problem, but rather it is developing into a chronic problem. It is also true that after the first noise, it had not happened again during that trip/use of the vehicle. Makes me wonder if after using the car, the pads are sticking to the rotor as they cool. Or, if not sticking to the rotor, the pads are glazing, and the first use is rubbing that glaze off. This actually seems the more likely to me. I don't feel a shudder, vibration, any accompanying physical telltale, through the chassis or the brake pedal, when the sound happens. It is definitely coming from the front wheels not the rear, (as best I can tell).

Another thought regarding the pads... Could they be accumulating or "bleeding" some ambient or intrinsic moisture, after being warmed up. Something that is being cleaned off by contact with the rotor on first use. Manfacturing chemical, water, glue, anything that might try to stick to the pads and then get scrapped off during use.
