The AI car renderings are getting better... That WOULD be a cool halo car for Lincoln. It would likely do for it what the NSX did for Acura. But an incredibly niche market...

As to Super Coupes like the McLaren, which is a seven figure car. That dream would be in a pipe for the current Ford management team. Unless you are thinking about a next version Ford GT.

Low production sports cars are not what Ford Motor Company is currently about. The exception is the Ford GT of recent years. And this serious 6 figure car was built in Canada by a private company under contract. Ford builds a thousand or so copies and stops for a time. There is a race only version (Ford GT IV) that will be sold for 7 figures. Overall this model has some history. A Lincoln coupe does not have the same.

Ford has already gone down the road of limited production coupes sold at the dealerships in the old LM Sales Division - Pantera, imported Capri, Probe, Merkur. The results were disappointing to say the least.

But I guess dreaming doesn't cost that much.

They should bring back the equivalent to the Pantera under $80K, simple 5.0 v8 with possible 10 speed AT, and pull it under the Lincoln brand so it can be in their dealerships.

Ford Motor Company would not produce a car that competes in price with Mustang.
In that price range ($80K) it would compete with Mustang.

Given what Pantera was in the early 1970s, it was more of a race car than a street car. Today it would be called a Super Sports Car niche.
Entry HP for that market niche would have to be North of 600 hp.
The closest domestic competition would be a Corvette. (Which is at the lower end of HP for most Super Sports cars)
Well into six figure land.

If Ford produced a 600+ HP real super sports car for $80,000 many would buy it. The company would lose money.
And I would sell my stock in the company and buy one of those before the company experienced loses.

OR buy a Mustang Dark Horse. A base model is $64K to $69K. Nicely equipped is $80k. Only about 500 ponies and it has a back seat. But what the heck?
