Sad to say.....

That's not the amount they're offering me, that's the amount of damages to my car before they tear it apart. Which they're not doing.

I'm still waiting to hear from them what the check will be directly to me...agree, it should be enough to buy a same replacement.
The most important part is you and your wife are still with us.

Maybe there is a different brand in my future? I have a refundable deposit on a red/beige 22 Highlander Hybrid Platinum FWD arriving in next few weeks. hmmm
Gasp!!!! (checks calendar; nope, not April 1 ...)

Just got the amount they want to give me. $51,046, which includes my $500 deductible, and a deduction for high miles. (15,000 miles, average is 6,xxx they claim, and that is $3,xxx) too tired to look again, so I just used Xs.
They included sales tax, but no title fees,or dealer doc fees

The MSRP of my 21 Corsair was $48,480.

Wow! Pretty decent... Id fight them on the mileage.

Yes I certainly thought so. I was quite surprised. And I'll be talking with them today on several of those issues and trying to squeeze out anymore $ I can get.

Update...Got the money from my ins co, and the police report showing the "at fault driver" and his ins co, who my ins. co. is now working with. This other co. has accepted the fault. so we now wait to see what happens.

Wife and I are making good physical progress. I even drove yesterday and today for the first time since the accident on 11/26. I had my wife, and our adult daughter drive me to an empty church parking lot, and I drove around for about 10 to 15 minutes to judge my ability to drive safely. Last thing I want is to put anyone in my car or on the road in any undue risk due to my driving ability. My plan was that they each had one vote, and I had...yes, one vote...so they could out vote me. They decided I did OK, and was "allowed " to drive home from there, about 10 minutes. After that, I got a "take it slow, don't over-do, but yes, you seem fine to drive". I drove several places today, and did fine.

More info....after one of my wife's doc appointments this week, our friend who drove us said he had some extra time if we wanted to stop by the Ford/Lincoln dealer...so we did. My wife sat in the Corsair, and had a very unsettling look on her face. She sad it brings back too many memories, so we will not be getting another Corsair any time soon.

It is a little bit weird, considering the current state of the auto business, that my dealer has had these 4 or 5 Corsairs for about 4 weeks...(Not GTs), but Reserves. ??? We went for a ride in a '21 Edge Titanium, it was nice, quiet, and has Sync 4A, BIG vertical screen like Mach-e... with wireless AA and Carplay. THAT should have been in the Corsair. I am considering an Edge. Rumors seem to indicate 22 will be last year for Edge and Nautilus, as the Canadian plant where they are made will likely be turned into an EV plant. Rumors....

That's it for now.

Actually it was news up here about the Oakville Assembly Plant that the Canadian and Ontario governments chipped in incentives for Ford to manufacture five (5) EVs as part of the Unifor contract negotiations. The latest speculation is that the new EV Explorer and Aviator may come here, but the current US Government plan on EV incentives for US made vehicles may be an issue.

2022 or 2023 should be the last year for the Edge and Nautilus (hence their update for 2021). The bigger screen and Sync 4 should be coming in 2023 for the next update for the Corsair and Escape. Friends who have had or still have an Edge love them.

The wait is over. Sunday, I drove home with a brand new RED 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum FWD. I was leaning toward a replacement Corsair, but, as I mentioned before, after sitting in the passenger seat of a red 21 Reserve with additional packages, my wife nixed that idea. It just brought up too many bad memories of the accident.

I liked the Edge, but ultimately its pending "end of life" was a big factor.

The Highlander Hybrid is EPA rated at 36 mpg city and 35 highway, and it is even quieter than the Corsair. MSRP $51,876. The dealer experience was fabulous, no "market adjustment pricing", and they agreed to waive most of the added cost of the window tint, clear door edge guards and door handle cup protectors. NO hard sell on extended warranties or other nonsense in finance. Even got a $500 rebate for financing a small amount (which I will quickly pay off). I feel this was a good choice, considering the fuel economy, Toyota's history with Hybrids, and of course the expected high reliability and resale value.

Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but I am able to drive a bit now. It's a painful reach to many things with my right arm, but I am seeing more range of motion almost every day. The arm/shoulder still hurts quite a bit.

I plan on staying somewhat involved here. Great group of people!

Congrats on the new vehicle, but sorry it isn't another Lincoln. Keep up the good work on recovery. For the record, you're one of the great group of people here ... :-)

Hi JB. Happy to hear you and your wife are on the road to a full recovery. 🤗 But sad to hear you left the Lincoln family. 😢

Hope you have a safe, healthy and very Happy New Year! 🥳

My wife and I were involved in a serious accident on Friday. A full size Ford van, (E250?) ran a red light at the end of a freeway exit ramp. Besides the van and my Corsair, another car was involved Five people taken to hospital trama center. My car is totaled. I am out of the hospital, but have many injuries. My wife is in ICU. I am typing this left handed with 1 finger, as I cant move my right arm.

Ouch. So very very sorry. That Lincoln saved your lives for sure. Heavier vehicle counters the forces of energy in an accident. That's why I don't buy small cars and prefer SUVs and pickup trucks from Ford/Lincoln. They are well built generally.

I just saw this thread and am glad to read your wife is on the road to recovery! I've been a firefighter (Fire Chief - Retired) for more than 40 years and have worked a LOT of crashes. From the pics you shared I know that the probability of a lot of serious injuries was very high. It looks like your car and the yellow one both held up well given the crash from the van. I hope that now you are both doing much better!

I wish my wife hadn't had the bad reaction after sitting in a new Corsair, but I DO understand it. The Highlander Hybrid is a nice car, it gets great mileage, but it is NOT a Lincoln Corsair. I REALLY dislike Toyota's version of lane centering and lane keeping. It doesn't do either well, yet beeps alot (rather than vibrating the steering wheel). It can be tiring fighting with the wheel as it bounces back and forth within the lane, then beeps when the car approaches the lane marking. I can turn them off completely, but it seems wrong to turn off a safety feature that might save me from a momentary lapse. Wish I had realized how annoying this behavior was on the test drive.

Dang. Sorry to hear. Think of it this way. Maybe by the time the refreshed one arrives in 2023, things will be different. Prayers up.
