Remote Features Disabled message

I got the message again on my phone today (Remote Features Disabled), even though I ran my car for ~15 minutes yesterday and for ~20 minutes on Monday ... 2 days in a row I ran it). I still have Location set to 'While Using the App' and stayed out of it after running it yesterday, but somehow the app updated itself overnight to give me this 'disabled' message today (so it does still "talk" to the car which is kind of a good thing to know that I will still get updates on alerts). This is crazy... something's gotta be wrong with my battery and will have to get it checked out. Hopefully just a bad battery they put in (build date was early October 2023, bought it in mid-February). Key Fob is about 100 feet away from it.

I have the same experience. Unless I’m driving for more than 1/2 hour per day (roughly) I’ll still get the warnings.

So something really scary just happened to me. I went out to drive it to get it 'reconnected' to the app and charge backup the battery and am on the highway for about 20 minutes (30 minutes total drive time at this point) when all of a sudden my sync screen shows the message: "System Off to Save Battery - Please turn ignition off or start engine' and I'm watching the countdown to shutting off while driving not knowing what it will do when it gets to the end. A bit panicked I pulled into the slow lane on the highway in case it decides to turn my engine off and I can then safely get over to the emergency lane. When it reached ground zero, the sync screen went completely blank followed by my digital cluster going really dim, but the engine kept going. So I continued driving on the highway and 5 minutes later both the Sync screen and cluster both came back online. Then 5 minutes later, the same thing repeated with the Sync screen message, then going black along with dimmed cluster ... AND this time it also turned off ALL my safety features (e.g. cross traffic alert, etc.). So I got scared again wondering if the engine itself would actually turn off ... it did not. So I continued driving on the highway and it repeated all this every 5 minutes until I got back home and safely parked it. Wow ... scary #$%@ 😨

I immediately called the dealer requesting service. They will call me back tomorrow morning. Gonna use the pickup and delivery option (a nice perk at least in having a Lincoln).

timmo, I will be interested in what the dealer finds. My internet diagnostics is a bad alternator or connection.

Hopefully you pulled over and got some pics or video. The dreaded, cannot repeat problem customer issue.

So I called for my first Lincoln service appt. and am not impressed (pretty angry actually). They certainly marketed the 'Pickup and Deliver' service with how great it is in owning a Lincoln, but it's not in my favor whatsoever. The earliest date they can do 'Pickup and Deliver' is April 23rd - what the hell ... is that normal? He says this is normal due to the demand of that service ... wow. He also didn't want his porters to run into an issue driving it (because of safety features shutting off) and suggested I have it towed there ... or I can drop it off myself to leave it there until early next week and they can give me shuttle service back home (no loaner available until 4/23).

I'm getting pretty sour quick now with this car and the Lincoln brand with how this is being handled in having had this car for only 7 weeks.

As others have mentioned previously calling Lincoln concierge seems to have helped several members.

So I went out to drive it to dealer and the car let me in with key fob… but … no power anywhere to start her up. Completely disabled again (this happened once before the day after I brought the car home). So I exited the vehicle and it wouldn’t even let me lock it… so i had to lock it using the built-in key in key fob. Tow truck called to have it towed to dealer.

This is normal as a dealer only has so many loaner vehicles to go around for people in your situation as well as those getting regular services like oil changes and tire rotations. They have to make certain they have both a loaner available as well as a driver to do the pick up/delivery service.

This is where your salesperson steps up and gives their demo they have been driving.

Fair enough and now I know - but they really should change their marketing materials so that new Lincoln owners (like myself) are aware of how the service actually operates so that it prevents the average consumer from getting pretty upset the first time they have a service issue:

Complimentary Lincoln Pickup & Delivery service is available for 2017 model year and newer Lincoln vehicles with the 4-year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Enjoy an effortless way to service your vehicle.

Additional bullet points should be added such as (they can use a small font size at the very bottom of the page to at least document it):
  • Note that this service does not apply for immediate service needs. It is intended for pre-scheduled warranty and service appointments.
  • For immediate service needs, please enjoy our complimentary shuttle service where you are treated as if you bought a Ford (I'm obviously being facetious here, but it's the harsh truth)
Anyways ... it's just frustrating going through this where my expectations were just totally shot. Just having a really bad day and it helps to vent ... I do apologize if this is too much sharing.

If able, disconnect the negative battery terminal and then reconnect.

Hi timmo. If/when a complementary loaner is not available, 2017+ Lincoln owners can also receive per diem compensation for a rental vehicle…up to the daily limit available for each individual Lincoln model.
That limit varies according to model.
EDIT: Calling Lincoln Concierge for specifics would be the best route to follow.

Hope this information helps and good luck.

You should really get a Nico Genius 10 or similar charger. I have one. It madre all the difference. Disabling all of the things you are disabling is doing yourself and the vehicle a disservice IMO. You want wifi so you receive updates. You want the systems monitoring the vehicle's health. Not charging the battery or only doing 15-30 minute drives just does not charge these AGM batteries sufficiently. I charge mine overnight with the NoCo. It takes 30 seconds to connect. Battery works great and so does everything else.

Just my recommendations.

Sorry I will respectively disagree. If you own a brand new vehicle regardless of cost and a battery tender is required to keep it operating properly. One needs to get rid of it. I would never keep a vehicle like that. There is something wrong with your vehicle. Let Lincoln find the root cause or the next owner.

No vehicle batteries keep a good charge when not driven enough. We didn't know it before an app told us and put the vehicle in a battery saving mode. I haven't charged mine in over a week because I have made several very long drives.

Funny I could leave my 2010 F150 for 6 months with out a battery tender in my Michigan garage when I was snowbird. It did not come to florida. Return home insert key start right up. I guess something changed.

The title of this thread is about remote features being disabled to save battery life until a long drive can be done or the battery charged. It has devolved into a "Ford batteries suck and fail" thread. The whole point of disabling the remote features is to simply save battery life. My 2020 and now 2022 never needed a new battery. The vehicle will start. That is not what the thread was originally about. It's not what I'm getting at either when saying a charger is a good idea in a modern vehicle with an AGM battery.

These aren't 2010 vehicles.

Oh, maybe in this thread but definitely elsewhere, I have mentioned that I needed to have my BCM re-flashed. That solved issues where the vehicle was not functioning correctly due to that module needing to be reprogrammed, basically. I have received no comments about that. Is my battery bad and needing to be changed? No. If so, no amount of driving or charging would allow me to start the vehicle and drive it.
