Power running boards are not working

When opening the passenger door the passenger side RB deploys, pauses a few seconds and then retracts. Sometimes it actually remains deployed as it should, anyone else experiencing this behavior? Drivers side works normally.

I had a similar issue when the running boards look stuck, I used DW40 on the joints of the running boards and they are working fine now.

When I wash my truck, I make it a point to lower the running boards every time it runs through. I hope I'm not jinxing it, but after abut 5 washes, the running board performance improved to almost original. It's been month since my wife complained about the board not wworking. I used wd40 back in June, but it was still getting stuck after a few cycles. But I kept lowering them during car washes even after doing that. About a month of doing so, they started getting stuck less.

Did not read all the posts but was having the same issue intermittently. When in for last oil change spoke with my mechanic and he said he has seen tight pins, the ones holding the step in place, providing enough resistance to trigger the safety retract. So he pulled the pins, when removing the passenger side he said they were tight, polished lightly and lubed and reinstalled, I am two months in and have not had the issue again, and the system sounds quieter…. Might be an idea.

I had a similar issue when the running boards look stuck, I used DW40 on the joints of the running boards and they are working fine now.

Drivers side on mine would not retract to close position, i used my air compressor to blow out the sand and then liquid wrench on the bolts/rods that rotate and works fine. Looks like an every 6 month maintenance task.

I have this issue except mine is on the driver's side. My dealership says they can't duplicate of course so I sent in a few videos of it happening. Now my tailgate is not opening as well. I have to go inside the car and press the button for the tailgate to open.
