Outside door handle switches

Wow, this is the first time that I noticed the bottom part is actually matched to the body paint.

I had to go look. I had no idea, either. When someone was talking about something needing painted, I had no idea what they were talking about.

Wow is right. What a conundrum! My 2018 Continental (which I love) has just suffered the failure of the right rear door handle function. Opens from the inside, but not the outside.
As discussed throughout the thread, replacement of the handle is a big headache to say the least, and not inexpensive.
Just throwing it out there, but is rebuilding it even an option? Does anyone know what specific part within it, is failing?

Wow is right? The passenger rear door on my 2018 Continental (which I love) has just decided to quit. As with others, it does open from inside, but the outside is kaput. Just throwing it out there, does anyone know if the thing can be rebuilt, or is there is a switch that can be replaced?
Thanks!

I believe I have the solution to this problem. I have a 2017 Continental with just under 60k miles. I've had off and on issues with the rear doors not opening from the outside. It seemed to occur after driving in the rain or after a car wash. And then once it had time to dry out, the e-latches would start working. I noticed that the rubber gasket along the bottom of the stationary window above the latches was pulled away from the windows. That gap allowed water to run down the window into the door cavity. I sealed it with transparent silicone and haven't experienced a reoccurrence of the issue for several months now having driven through multiple rain storms and many car washes. So the defect seems to be in the window seals allowing water intrusion, rather than an issue with the latches themselves.
