Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Nautilus

Since there's not a media shortcut button that directly brings us to a page with all the media sources, one of the other workarounds that I've used is to arrange all of the media app icons together in the app page. Then, to change media source, I tap the applications shortcut on the left side of the center screen, and then tap the media app icon.

Even with this screen, how about a HUD and add a power port on the back of the rearview mirror to plug in a radar detector. Just need the phone jack type. My wife's 2017 minivan has this for the love of God.

We should be able to see Trip Data in the 11" display and not only as a widget, and there should be trip data for the "current trip" on the non-Hybrid model.

My sons elantra has great trip data, this trip as well as mgp data since mile 1, since last refueling, this trip, etc. The info is awesome and readily accessible.

This would also be at the top of my list too. Once you’ve experienced the audible warning, you realize how many times it’s the audio that warns you before you even get a chance to look in the side view mirror.
Yes, my son's Elantra has it and it grabs your attention and that car is only $30k. My Aviator black label doesn't even beep, it should.

-Digital clock readout on the top of the main dashboard screen
-Add a close+lock button on liftgate next to close button like Subaru Forester so don't have to pull out phone or key or go to B pillar to lock car after close.
-Google maps shows distance and time to destination like Apple maps
-Waze works on the upper screen like Google and Apple maps
-Drivers carpeted floormat is secured at the top to avoid crumpling when exiting
-Car recognizes home garage location so headlights don't turn on during daytime entry
-Pushing the parking assistance button starts the program rather than calling up a screen requiring a selection to do so.

A close and lock function may be able to be added via software update . . . press the current button twice, or one long press to close and lock.
It would be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if there is already a setting that can be adjusted in Forscan. I just lock the doors before I open the hatch. It will open even when the doors are locked without unlocking the car. The mirrors will unfold but fold back and flash to indicate it is locked once you close the hatch.,

  • Retain the climate control state between starts, including the A/C button state and dash vent directional settings
It looks like Campaign 23U11 should at least take care of the vent directional settings (no idea if it includes retaining overall climate control settings).

From the reaction I see regarding the injector issue, I am wondering about the Lincoln loaner program concept. It looks like it is entirely up to the dealer so some may have no incentive to keep a lot of loaners available especially if the car is driveable (with risk).

For customer affinity and loyalty, the battle is mostly at the dealer level and the dealer can make or break it. Dealers are independently owned and operated so likely Lincoln can only offer positive reinforcement and not much it in the ways of punitive measures since in the end the dealers move the cars.

In the late 80s and again in the early 2000s the local Lincoln dealer had an arrangement with Enterprise for loaners. I always got a Lincoln to drive when I needed service for any length of time. Now I always find either nothing available or in a few weeks we can get one if you want/can wait. I really liked the old way better.
on extended warranties one can purchase first day coverage and upgraded rental coverage. Rentals need to be an option if the dealer has no loaners.

It might be dealer dependent, as we have not had any problems getting loaners and are still in one or their 24 Aviator's now for a Hybrid brake noise issue.

If Lincoln incorporates half of the suggestions price will increase about 10K per vehicle... 😁

Hi gang. This loaner availability/reimbursement issue comes up every once in a while, but then the rental reimbursement information eventually falls off the boards.

If our Lincoln Dealership has no loaners available for a service appointment, we can arrange with our Dealership Service Department and/or Lincoln Concierge for a rental vehicle reimbursement… Up to the limit allowable for our particular vehicle. This reimbursement amount varies by vehicle and can be obtained by calling Lincoln Concierge.

Hope this information helps and good luck.

Add tactile feedback for touch similar to phones with beep option especially for ac controls. I am not a big fan of the piano key setup but it works.

I hate the piano keys. It was almost a deal-breaker for me. You should not have to look down to shift gears. But those keys have become a signature design element for Lincoln, so I don't think there's much of a chance of them changing.

The color and clear plastic make it look cheap to me. If I just looked at the center console, it almost appears like the volume control is a selector button to support the functions around it. For example, if I push 360 camera,. the knob could cycle through the views,. for drive mode, it could go through conserve, excite, etc, for themes, etc. It could be a companion for the controls on steering wheel. I would put selections on 48in display not the center console display.

When I am parking in a tight garage, the backup and 360 camera are important to me but the 360 is not as useful as it could be since I am still learning to judge distances.

There's a surprising design miss with the plastic/crystal-like controller knob. It's obviously an important design element in the car and its center should be a Lincoln star logo, maybe lit. Big miss just putting the volume label there, imo.
