Missing underside parts

Since I'm not handy at all, I was a bit nervous but I guess I can do that without killing myself or blowing something up!! Thanks for the suggestion. that does seem the simplest, quickest solution.

You do raise a good point…. Those bolts are near the gas tanks so there is a chance that undoing those bolts could cause a spark that lights the gas in the gas tank…. And explode and catch fire.

If you are not capable of twisting a wrench in a safe manner, I’d recommend calling the Lincoln Concierge and register a complaint.

Omg. That is terribly frightening. Praise God I did it successfully and it worked perfectly. Very kind and knowledgeable people at Ace hardware knew exactly what kind of screw I needed.

The burning question is why were the parts missing in the first place…. Pandemic supply issues most likely…. Or something else….

Parts missing from my 2023 Corsair. Led to wire being melted into muffler. Have a service call set up. I have the towing package.

When my dealer looked up my VIN, they said the parts were supposed to be included. So they ordered them and installed them. Why Lincoln is dropping them on some assemblies is beyond me.

I want to thank you and others for this information. I have a brand new 2023 Corsair GT with towing package which gave me a parking break alert and loss of all adaptive cruise control features including BlueCruise about 2 hours into my first trip. The wires were melted against the muffler due to the missing pieces.

I picked up a new 2022 Corsair back in February on noticed the rear wheel well liner was hanging low when a bit of ice built up on it. I also noticed the fender was somewhat floppy. (Her is a very short YouTube video showing it

). It turns out liner parts were missing on both sides. The parts attach to the back of the wheel liners and act as shields, along with firming up the rear quarter panels.

I brought the car into the dealer where we confirmed it was missing the parts. We checked two other new Corsairs and one had the parts and the other didn't. The commonality between my vehicle and the other one that was also missing the parts was factory installed trailer package.

The dealer ordered the parts and installed them. So my point is: check underneath to see if you are missing the rear underside panels.

BTW the bottoms of the mudguards are partially shown in each picture.

Update: Today (10/26/2023) I was informed that one deflector was on backorder until Nov 9th and the other deflector was being reengineered with no availability date given. Implies to me that all recent Corsairs are missing these parts which will result in wires laying on the passenger side muffler and melting.

Very helpful. Thank you for posting that. I think mine looks just like yours after it was corrected. I just picked mine up last week so maybe these earlier issues have been resolved by the factory.

Another update. I took my car, 2023 Corsair Grand Touring with tow hitch, into a Ford/Lincoln dealership and a mechanic (who was not certified in hybrids) told me in no uncertain terms that these cars do NOT have deflectors due to space. Doesn't sound right to me. Can anyone here give me an answer to this mechanic's statement?

Unlike others, I could not find another vehicle on the lot that looked any different than mine. I did, after seeing the photos of the melted plastic others have shared, look closely at the wiring and am happy to report that everything is anchored down on my vehicle.

I wonder if the units that have been seen with the underside parts installed were in an earlier batch (job 1 vs job 2?). Did they have 2 official runs this year? Mine wasn't built until July (even though it was ordered in Sept '22).

Yes I agree, I too am surprised that Ford seems to cut corners on its higher end Lincoln product. Such things as not including standard fog lights, puddle lights, engine appearance cover, etc. cheapens their quality standard.

Not much you can do other than to make sure you have a document that states you brought the situation to the attention of the service department and part has been ordered.
People change, things get lost without a document it becomes something that you said versus what someone else promised.
It has been 4 months, what it if takes another 14 months? Or 40 months or longer?
Will it still be at no charge?
You want to make sure the steps are in place that if someone drops the ball, you have documentation that you wanted the part 4 months ago at least. Or today if not back then.

It has been a long time since I worked at a dealership. If it is a supplier issue the part is back ordered. A part only stays on back order for a given amount of time and then falls off. Likely 90 to 180 days. I would be reaching out to the parts department every quarter so the parts & service department know you still want it. You don't have to behave poorly, just check in and ask. You paid for a complete car. You just want the car completed.

I recieved my 23 Corsair GT in September. Soon after I started hearing a noise at highway speed coming from the rear that sounded as if something loose was flapping. That's when I found the loose wheel liners. Armed with information from this forum I recently took my concern to my dealer. I was informed that the part exists and had a part number but did not and would not be included with my vehicle. I could order and pay for the parts at a cost to me of $138.00 for the right side and $700.00 Canadian for the left. Plus fastners. Yes I was shocked. I phoned the concierge who didn't help at all except to create a case number.
I think this is another example of Lincoln causing concerns for their quality reputation.

Using that logic, if the car was built without the Corsair emblems on the side of the car they would be good.

Since a Corsair is built in Kentucky and so is Escape, what if the Corsair was built with Escape wheels?

I've got a 2020 Reserve and a recently purchased 2022 Reserve. The 2020 is quiet at freeway speeds while the 2022 has wind noise/NVH at freeway speed. Took some pics underneath both cars and the 2020 has full deflectors on both sides, fenders good and rigid, while the 2022 has floppy fenders and no bracing/deflectors/heatshields at all.
I'll post the pics later, and take the 2022 to the dealer to try to get them to fix it.

Anyone think that the 2020 parts might fit the 2022? Might do the swap to see if that fixes the highway noise, especially if the local Lincoln dealers won't "deal".

They should be the same, the redesign was done on the 2023 models.
