I picked up a new 2022 Corsair back in February on noticed the rear wheel well liner was hanging low when a bit of ice built up on it. I also noticed the fender was somewhat floppy. (Her is a very short YouTube video showing it
). It turns out liner parts were missing on both sides. The parts attach to the back of the wheel liners and act as shields, along with firming up the rear quarter panels.

I brought the car into the dealer where we confirmed it was missing the parts. We checked two other new Corsairs and one had the parts and the other didn't. The commonality between my vehicle and the other one that was also missing the parts was factory installed trailer package.

The dealer ordered the parts and installed them. So my point is: check underneath to see if you are missing the rear underside panels.

BTW the bottoms of the mudguards are partially shown in each picture.

Thanks for this tip. My ears perked up when you mention factory installed hitch. On THIS thread, we've discussed how there is a felt liner with suspicious holes unattached. If you can provide the part numbers your dealer orders, that would be helpful!

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely look at mine when it arrives next month (fingers crossed). I ordered mine with the tow package too.

Awesome! Thank you. At $50+ each, I’ll check with my dealer rather than DIY. BTW, labor is spelled wrong on your work order. ;)

The burning question is why were the parts missing in the first place…. Pandemic supply issues most likely…. Or something else….

Or which less obvious oversights may have occurred

Or maybe some vehicles were being pre-built to a point, just like some vehicles waiting for microchips. They may have been set to go back and get them installed when parts came in and shipped out, but someone jumped the gun?

I have to wonder if more owners report this whether there will be some service campaign.

Btw, labour is spelled correctly 😎

I am not sure I understand. When my Corsair arrives I want to know what to look for. So there is felt insulation in wheel wells. And is it supposed to have a hard cover or shield bolted over it?

Just look under the car directly behind the rear passenger wheel well. If there are some open bolt holes on the underside of the fender and on the lower back lip of the liner, the parts are missing.

My exposed bolt holes are only on the passenger side on my 2022 2.0L Standard AWD model. Confirming we are talking about the bolt holes in the body panel not in the felt wheel well liner. I went to the Ford Parts on-line catalog and entered the part numbers Sharbotcom provided from his dealer’s work order. Accordingly those parts do not fit the 2022 Corsair models but are listed to fit the 2020 and 2021 models. I must assume that Ford discontinued adding those parts to the 2022 models as not necessary and cost savings? Similar to the Engine Appearance Cover which is no longer on the 2022 models or listed as a part for 2022 models. It is available and a listed part for the 2020 and 2021 models.

Also my rear passenger side body panel behind the wheel is not floppy like shown in Sharbotcom’s video even though it does have the two exposed bolt holes. It is fairly secure. I do not have the trailer hitch so maybe that has something to do with i?

The rear venders on the vehicle without the towing package that we checked at the dealer were fairly secure. It was only mine and another one (was just unloaded off of the carrier the night before) that have the towing package that had "floppy" rear panels. To be honest the driver-side panel was not as bad as the passenger-side panel. Both are acceptable now.

It is very disappointing when a Lincoln Corsair and Ford Escape are sitting side by side and the rear panels on the Corsair are floppy while the Escape's are solid.

I'm glad my dealer stepped up and got the parts from Lincoln and installed them right away.

BTW the dealer also affixed the missing 2.3T badging at the same time.

Oh glad to hear that thanks.

Yes I agree, I too am surprised that Ford seems to cut corners on its higher end Lincoln product. Such things as not including standard fog lights, puddle lights, engine appearance cover, etc. cheapens their quality standard.

I'm curious if those missing parts are only related to the Reserve. I was the one who started the other thread. Mine is a Standard with the 2.0.
