How to auto lock when walking away from Corsair?

LOL ...My goal had been (I intentionally used the past tense) for the Corsair to realize I have left the car, all doors are closed, and walked away 10 -20 feet without hitting any lock buttons, and have the car lock itself.

I think for walkaway autolock to truly work as @jbdescribes in the previous post, the interior sensors (airbag passenger seat occupation sensor and interior alarm motion detector) must be employed to sense for the absence of passengers. Otherwise, it would potentially lock the doors and set the alarm with folks in the vehicle - an unwanted behavior. Unfortunately, dispite the owner's manual reference to the interior alarm sensors on certain configurations, it appears they are no longer included in any configuration. Without them, I can't see how walkaway autolock could work.

My 2 cents.

BTW I'd use the option if it were available.

Hi kingdre. Yes, what you are describing is normal behavior when the side-view mirror autofold feature is enabled. When you lock the doors with the keyfob the mirrors will fold. Or if you lock the doors with the outside touch door handle, the mirrors will fold. Or if you lock the doors with the inside door lock buttons and then close the door, the mirrors will fold when you close the door.

However that is not what the OP is discussing. The OP is saying their Aviator automatically locks when they walk away from the vehicle, without them having to do anything other than walk away. That is a feature not known up to this point.

Our Lincoln vehicles do not have a known (to this point in time) autolock feature that will lock the doors, just by walking away from the vehicle with no button pushes on something.

Good luck.
That's a very useful feature. I had a 2017 Honda CRV and it had that feature. I absolutely loved it. As long as you had the FOB with you when you walked away the car would autolock and beep so you can hear it from a distance. It was not much of a distance, only about ten feet or so. I don't understand how a Lincoln would not have that option. I love my new Corsair but miss that feature.

Yes, I wish Lincoln would add that to the Corsair. I love my Corsair as well. Even with some bugs people have experienced, I still feel it is the best I have ever bought in my 68 years. I've been buying Ford cars since the 1970's and have seen the quality improve and design/art get better and better. This tops the cake in my opinion. I do understand that the way we all judge cars is like judging art. Everyone has their art favorites. Example is a couple down the street have a 25 year old son living with them and just out of graduate school. Not working yet...go figure...another topic. He is madly in love with getting a Tesla. Of course he wants a model S at the most expensive level. Of course, he expects his fairly well off parents to buy it because he does not work and so far seems to be lazy or slow about landing a job in this great job market outside DC. He would not consider any other car. He was shocked when he saw my Lincoln and asked why not Tesla. I said I do not like Tesla as a car design. He nearly fainted in horror that someone would not like a Tesla. I had to explain to him that I believe in EVs but right now they are very much in heavy transition as battery technology and self driving tech is still in the infancy period. I don't want to lock myself into the EV world yet. Five years from now things will be vastly different. We'll see 500 miles or more where it will be easier to have an EV. Federal investment in infrastructure is just starting and charging networks are in growth stage. I told him Tesla cars are not big enough for my needs. I need the size of the Corsair or larger as we have 3 acres of land and need supplies sometimes that fill the back area. I used to have a Ford Sport Trac where we would haul supplies with the truck. So, the Lincoln Corsair GT is the bridge between both worlds. I can experience all EV driving most times but have gas as a backup for long trips. It's wonderful for now. This explains why hybrids and plugin hybrids are so popular. So a spokesman for Toyota yesterday who stated they are producing more hybrids and plugins than gas only cars and will be increasingly focus/invest in lots more of these and reduce production of gas only models. Ford is seeing great demand for these as well. They make more profit on them and we get to save over the life of the car.

Any bets on how many people on GM and other make forums complain about that feature and want to disable it because they think it is annoying or activates the door locks too much? :ROFLMAO:
My Cadillac auto locks… great feature! I wear it lock as I walk away. I was on this thread hoping to find it for my wife’s Corsair.

I see. Mine does well on my Nav, but I have to tap the sensor on the door handle. To clarify, you are saying you don't have to do that on your Aviator and the doors lock, anyway?

Not trying to be difficult here, I just have never heard of a feature where the doors lock by just walking away.
Cadillac does it

Okay. Wouldn't cause me to buy a Cadillac. Not even sure who you are since it is a guest account.
Apparently Honda has that feature available as well. I like hearing the click and audible tone that confirms the doors are locked. But if I ever wonder if I forgot to lock the doors the app makes it easy to send the lock command to the car and I don’t have to go back to it to hit the key fob. 😎👏

I’ve been told that the feature is enabled or disabled by using FORscan programing. The feature standard is disabled. You need to download the app to a laptop, buy the software license, register the software, wait for approval annd validation code, and buy the OBDLinxEX scan tool to access the vehicle‘s computer for programming changes. A tech told me the dealerships can‘t do it for you.

Hi Car-guy. Of course it is possible I missed something and/or am incorrect, but in many years now of looking over FORScan programming lists/ledgers, I have not seen any FORScan programming ability to allow "walk-away auto-locking" with Lincoln/Ford vehicles.

Good luck.
