:drevil: I have NO plans this 4th. I am so excited. I get to sleep in and relax.. and finish remodeling the bedroom, and clean the house, mow the yard, and get all the extra rooms ready for company.

I\'m kind of pissed at myself.
I met this really cute girl this weekend at a friends party, and i didn\'t ask for her phone number, she even went out of her way to say bye to me when she was leaving, which gives me the idea she was interested.
She was damn cute too! Greek and Italian, black hair, brown eyes, and cute freckles. ugh, such an idiot.
I\'m kind of pissed at myself.

I\'m asking in general for other guys, but specifically b/c the one that I met in Vermont is dancing up there (ballet, etc for a summer program) and I might not be able to fly back up. I\'d like to surprise her with something, but I don\'t want to go overboard.

Jeez it\'s hot out today. I\'ve been outside replacing the alternator on my Jetta...
147k miles on an alt isn\'t too bad I guess... But damn that was a bear of a job. If I look at any other FWD vehicles ever again... Somebody SHOOT ME. I had to drop the AC compressor, then completely remove the belt tensioner b/c some genius decided to design a block of aluminum to almost completely surround the alternator, and put a bolt BEHIND the tensioner body. ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH. Add to that, I have to wiggle and shove and dance the stupid thing DOWN without damaging the engine fan which is right there...
Seems like everything in this engine bay is either solid aluminum (good) or high-heat PLASTIC (bad) and NOTHING is flexible! At least I didn\'t rip off anything else this time. Last time I was working on one of these plastic engines, the stupid plastic nipple where a heater hose connects to... Snapped right off. That was a major PITA to replace that one, and the power steering nipple on this car was the same way. I was VERY afraid the damn thing would crack right off too.
Stupid plastic cars.
Screw emissions. I want a Ford Diesel truck engine from the 60s or 70s. Those things were heavy, but you could fix them with just a few wrenches and maybe a welder. They sure don\'t build em like that anymore. :nono:

This should show how much we\'ve talked in just 2 days where we were both very busy, only about maybe 40 minutes together total.
I know she\'s:
got family from New Orleans, her mom still lives there.
She\'s living in Annapolis, Md right now, going to school (I think)
has been dancing for just about forever, and is a prima ballerina at this summer gig, in addition to being a counselor. I think she\'s a teacher in MD at a ballet school there.
we seem to have hit it off, but obviously there wasn\'t a lot of time available. As for places to go on a date... Have you ever heard of Johnson, Vt? Didn\'t think so. It\'s almost definitely smaller than where April lives. College town, but no movies, malls etc. Only one bar, and it sucks. Probably only about 1000 people in the town.
There wasn\'t any hesitation or \"possibly\" answer to getting her contact info, unlike with the girl at school.
As for living in the same state... Yea, that\'s a tough one. BUT, she\'s my age (a plus) and still unattached b/c she\'s also somewhat shy. So a long distance might have a possibility, and I\'m not adverse to driving to MD every once in a while. It\'s only a day away, or one tank of diesel. A hell of a lot closer to Savannah than to south Fl.
