Customer Satisfaction Program 24B54 - Certain 2024 Model Year Nautilus - Update Infotainment Software

Hi,
Adding some information. I had the dealer perform the upgrades. No one calling me has complained about the echo on the phone anymore.

When I go into the Lincoln Way App, it shows Recent Changes as of Jun 12, 2024: TCU-24.2.4.8.

On the vehicle itself it says there are no software updates available and I can't find the location to see what is installed.

It's been a little flaky. Yesterday I went for a drive. Two of the three panels were black. Only the clock in the far right was displaying. Soft reset and everything came back to normal with the exception of having to re-log back into Spotify.

On Haz's forum, he posted an update on 24B54, Detaied instructions are available to his forum through link.

My opinion - Let the dealer do it. If it is problematic at the shop, how can it be better OTA.

Example of key words from instruction:

4. Connect the Rotunda battery tester and charger and set it to maintain 12.6 to 13.6 volts. Monitor the voltage real time using the indicator at the bottom right corner of FDRS to make sure that it is within this range. The battery state of charge (SOC) must be greater than 50% to continue with this FSA.

Ford has issued CSB 24B54 Supplement #1 to Dealers, with a revised date for Owner Letter mailing...

...increases the allowable Labor Time to conduct the Service Procedure...

...and revises the Service Procedure to improve the programming success rate.

The updated Service Procedure with revised instructions shown in red text, formulated for dealership professional technicians using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to perform the software updates, is attached below as a PDF document...

Owners who opt to perform the software updates on their own, will use the Over The Air (OTA) automatic download and installation method.

In Canada, the only Supplement #1 difference is Canadian Owner Letters are expected to be mailed by mid-December 2024.

I finished another 700 mile trip and the only "software" related aspects was the vehicle confused on how was the driver. If you tag team, it is best to have all settings except seat position the same since sometimes the navigation can stop on profile change along with the audio settings. It seems you alway have to fix the audio source if not listening to one source.

I did notice if even if you turn off audio, when you restart it comes back on, One exception is that audio apps in AA have to be restarted as far as I can tell. It is events like this you have to spend time to just get in the car and play with aspects to figure out the logic,

So today when I opened the Lincoln app, I noticed the notification for this update has disappeared. There's now a ✅️ with NO CSP. Maybe the Ford dealership was right that my car didn't need it. I'll all Concierge tomorrow to check in with them since they saw the update listed for my VIN as well.

The CSP disappears when a dealer notes the CSP been applied. I had the case where the dealer did not complete the procedure and marked it as complete,, I had to get the dealer to remove that so another dealer could finish the update. This means that the indication does not mean you actually have it applied.

My 24 Nautilus is in the shop for the 24B54 update. In the morning they told me it would take about 90 minutes so I decided to wait. Five hours later they said that things are going very slow and might be another 2 hours. They offered an Uber drive home.
Talking to the SA, he said that the connection is very slow. I asked if they are doing some kind of OTA update or thru a USB connection from a laptop or storage device. Answer was that the update goes from the laptop to some kind of wireless connection. Even the word "satellite" was thrown in at one point. Now I think I am getting BS.
I also asked if they are running the engine during the update or if they are using a charger/power supply. He said that are using a charger so that they don't run down the battery. That would have been understandable, but when I checked the vehicle thru the Lincoln Way app, I could see that the distance to empty went down since I arrived at the dealership. So more BS.

Update
Got a phone call that they will not be able to finish today... maybe tomorrow. The I got 3 alerts from Lincoln Way:
#1
Your Connectivity Features have been
disabled for [My Nautilus (2024 Nautilus)]. You
will need to re-enable Connectivity Features
to access the full suite of Phone as a Key
features. All backup start passcodes will also
be disabled until connectivity is restored.
#2
All Phone As A Key access and Backup Start
Passcodes were removed from [My Nautilus
(2024 Nautilus)] due to Master Vehicle Reset.
A vehicle key fob is required for operation.
#3
Your remote access has been removed from
My Nautilus due to a master reset in the
vehicle.

I forgot to ask if the monthly payment was canceled as well.

I can confirm they updated mine with the engine running because they returned it to me with a full tank of gas. I left it with about 1/3 tank.

Hey Fuzzy John.

My dealer wanted to do a full refresh of the software before I picked it up three weeks ago. They needed 8-10 hours to do so. This included this CSP.

They said the refresh would flash everything new rather than just apply the update.

I have not had any of the issues stated in the threads here with the screens or software. I assume it’s related how the update was applied.

Sounds like they are doing the same with yours with those messages. Hopefully you have the same result.

It should be a clean update for everyone. I am hoping ford will continue to improve the update process.

I don't see how this update will be released OTA.

I watched a tech try to do it mobile and seemed primitive. I would have expected a special port to do it rather than the console USB port.

Another observation. Prior to 24B54, I generally dash/center display brightness on max. After 24B54, the max brightness seems higher so now I adjust it more especially at night.

So it's done over the USB Port not wireless and/of satellite like the SA was BSing me.

With the car running, this is what I saw. The engine came on sporatically (hybrid)

Tech had FMARS tool and attached OBDI port. He downloaded the software to his tool using celluar connection. This took time. He then formatted a USB key with the downloaded software. This took longer than one would think He then inserted it into the vehicle USB port in center console. He did this two times successfully to update window fix and the gateway module. The infotainment was much larger so took longer. When he put key in the enter USB it would not recognize. He wanted some time to see if it would kick off, He disconnected the battery for 5 minutes (to the second) and tried inserting the USB key. No joy, He left and consider it a blessing. He said he was monitoring the voltage BUT did not have a supplemental charger as stated in work instruction. I did not tell him I knew more than I did but just watched. I talked to service manager and the shop procedure is to set up and walk away to do other work so end to end it will take a day since not babysitting it. I learned they bricked one Nautilis earlier that week for same software when they tried to do an update. This happened over 4 hrs.

Thanks Angore. Sounds like a very inefficient procedure. Or maybe something you would do for an one-off job.

I wonder if doing what they call "the master vehicle reset" removes the previous updates. Having to do them again will increase the time.

The question is why some need a master reset. For those that got a master reset, was it an early build that maybe needed more software cleanup.

I am sure the code levels change over time but they do not push them all out unless absolutely needed.

Hi Fuzzy John. No, a vehicle owner performing a “Master Reset” does not remove previously installed system updates.

Good luck.
I (the owner) did not do the master reset. It was done by the service technician. Don't know if there is a difference.

Hi Fuzzy John. That is a tougher question.

It all depends on exactly what the Tech did and how accurate their wording/description is.

A Tech can perform a “Master Reset” similar to what we can do as owners. That will not remove previous updates.

They can also reflash/reset the entire system back to essentially factory specs. That would remove updates which were installed later. However, this type of reflash/reset would be a rare occurrence.

So as you can see, it all depends on how they are utilizing the term “Master Reset”.

Therefore, in a case like this, it is difficult to blind Internet answer what was performed in one particular instance.

For an accurate answer, the question would need to be asked of the Tech or Service Advisor.

Hope that is written in an understandable manner.

Good luck. 🍻

Got my vehicle back with 24B54 installed. I noticed the changes others posted.
Due to the Master Reset the tech performed, I had to go thru adding my phone, connecting to my WiFi, recreating my profile, select Ringtone and Notification sounds and more.
After adding the phone I have a generic Bluetooth connection box named "Lincoln Nautilus". Before the name was longer and included the word "Experience". Also at the bottom of the connection box was a link that opened the Lincoln Way app.
Also, before when connecting to Google I could use my email and password besides two other options. After 24B54 the only way I found to connect to Google was to scan a QR code with my phone and the provide the password on the phone.
One thing that I still have to look into is the WiFi icon on the right side of the screen. Now it shows that WiFi is connected at all times, even when driving.

Interesting… I just got mine back from the dealer yesterday (they had it for a week) where they did all the software updates replaced 12v battery replaced front brake rotors and installed the clips in rear seatbelts and all my settings seem intact.
